Beautiful, quiet, romantic place for a date night. I love the design and atmosphere , it is very intimate. The food is delicious, menu has a lot of vegan options, humus is one of the best I’ve tried. This restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol, but they have a lot of non-alcoholic options. Big choice of desserts. Service is nice, attentive and fast, they don’t assign a certain waiter for you, any of the staff can help you, so it is pretty convenient. This place might not have a full dining experience, because they don’t have much dishes for main course, but you definitely will not leave hungry, 2 appetizers and a gyro completely filled 2 people.

A great unique date night spot for a romantic dinner. Feels very intimate and cozy. Wish I knew the place was BYOB. Had the Dharma sundae (green tea & vanilla ice cream w red bean) and hummus platter. Both were very good. The iced chai latte was also great choice.

The menu is so basic. Barely ANYTHING to chose from. If the owner is reading this, please figure out a way to change this. The place is absolutely beautiful. And what I mean by beautiful , I mean the most perfect place. BUT the food throws you off big time. People will love looks for the first 20 minutes. But it’s the food that will bring them back. I personally am not coming back until an actual menu is created the contains more then just 10 items.

“It’s a cave” 🍽 Archetypus 📍Edgewater, NJ ⭐️ 5/5 💰 $ The ambiance at this place is amazing. It gets pretty dark but it gives it more of a cave feel. The food is so delicious and healthy. There’s a variety of options to chose from. No alcoholic beverages served. Plenty of desserts and drinks to chose from. Definitely recommend it for a date or one-on-one. . . #edgewaternj #njrestaurants #coolplacesnj #njeats #foodinnj #placestoeatnj

This place should be on the show "Most Expensiviest". Seriously...went into Cafe Archetypus to get the GF some hot chocolate being she had a craving and being we were in the area. Doing a Google search for places that serve hot chocolate Google showed Cafe Archetypus. Reading a few reviews it was decided their hot chocolate sounded worth trying. In we went and noticed the atmosphere was dark, with very low lighting, like entering a cave. Certainly not your typical decor. We were greeted by a warm and friendly hostess who offered to seat us. We sat in the front which had more lighting. After a short while or eye adjustment period, another of the host brought us the menu and we chose the hot chocolate, green tea, and apple pie as a shared item. The hot chocolate was good and spicy but made with almond milk. The green tea was the Chinese variety, I had to settle on this style being they didn't offer Japanese Green Tea. The apple pie was good, nice, and warm with the slice in the center offset by a scoop of ice cream topped with a sphere of walnut compote and flanked by 2 mounds of whipped cream. Enjoyable was the atmosphere and the snacking and then we got the bill. Whoa...it was just apple pie, hot chocolate, and green tea! So here's my takeaway...your paying for location, ambience and creative menu items. As I said it was good just not really great.

Perfect for a late night date with your partner. The place is very romantic especially if you reserve for the caves. The servers all do work together so they really do not rush to get you out. Just be patient with them. I do recommend 100%….. Also, perfect place to give your partner a promise ring. 😉

Very cozy vibes here. It’s quiet and calm, but very immersive. It feel like you’re in prehistoric times. Super cool to bring friends or family to. Will definitely be coming back.

Cafe Archetypus holds a special place in the hearts of both my daughter and me. It has become our go-to spot for indulging in delightful teas and savoring the flavors of the Mediterranean. The moment we step inside, we're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the perfect tone for a memorable experience. Their selection of teas is exceptional, with each sip transporting us to a world of aromatic bliss. As for the Mediterranean delights, they never fail to impress. From flavorful hummus to scrumptious falafel, every dish is a testament to their culinary expertise. Cafe Archetypus is a haven where we can unwind, relish delectable treats, and create cherished memories together. It's truly a place we hold dear.

I celebrated my one year anniversary with my boyfriend here. It was his first time here and he LOVED IT. The food was very fresh. The staff was very friendly from the moment we came in and the dessert was amazing. Definitely recommend for a special cozy and quiet dinner. The decor is very fun and intimate and it gives a special feeling inside.

I’d say an interesting restaurant, never knew it was locally in NJ. Romantic vibes too but the food was solid for sure. Loved the tiramisu desert! Would come back again for sure.

Came to dine for my birthday, and it was a great disappointment. First, it took over 35 minutes for one salad to arrive at the table. We informed the server that the salad didn't arrive, and his response was that the delay was due to the kitchen being overwhelmed. A few minutes after the server left, the salad arrived. It appeared as though the server simply didn't put in the order because 1) it could not logically have taken 35 minutes to make the basic salad, and 2) other tables that ordered after us were getting their food. For my birthday, I reminded the server that I wanted the brownie cake dessert, and the server tried to suggest something else, reasoning that the chef was forced to do desserts and doesn't want to make brownie desserts. I informed the server that I don't mind waiting to receive the dessert I ordered. The server left and returned too soon after with the item he suggested, not the item that I requested. Clearly, either the server or the aggressive, back-of-house chef was under the false belief that I could be coerced into accepting an item that I did not order. I told the server that I would taste the dessert that he presented, but I would wait for the dessert that I ordered. Moreover, I reminded the server that it was my birthday. Other guests had candles and birthday songs, whereas I was without them. When I finally received the correct dessert, the servers that were gathered to sing were mostly interested in 'getting it over with' and moving on to cleaning tables. The evening was a spiral downward as my guest and I became the receiving end of toxic, passive-aggressive, back-of-house feuds that made their way to our table and diluted my evening. I spoke with the manager, a bald, older, white male, and he wanted to play word / semantics games with me by making long-winded philosophical statements about the word "manager" in a failed attempt to confuse me. I directly informed the manager about the evening, and he made the discussion about himself, and essentially said, in a long-winded way, that he doesn't care. Disgusting service, lack of proper food handler safety, and unprofessional management and staff. This restaurant's service is akin to a fast-food joint. No class.

This place has some spectacular interiors and perfect for a date night or hang out with your group of friends! We got the dark desire and the portion size was huge! The dessert is good for 4-5 people!

Unusual spot. We went for dessert and boy did we get dessert. Very big and very yummy! Decorated like a "tropical cave". Great for a romantic date.

My wife and I had chicken quesadilla and the falafel platter. Both dishes were decent for the price it was a lot of food but lacked some flavor. The atmosphere is amazing and definitely a reason to go and eat at this restaurant. My biggest complaint is with the service. We had about 3 waiters, but we never saw them. It seems like we always had to go looking for someone to help us. I was surprised because it wasn't really a busy night but it seemed like we could never get anyone's attention. Overall a place I might eat at again, but they definitely have to have better wait staff.

This place absolutely has an aesthetic, and if you aren't ready for it, it's gonna be a shock. Personally, I hated every bit of the atmosphere, but that's on me... eating in a literal cave just wasn't what I was expecting when we accidentally stumbled into this place. The 5 star rating is purely on how good the food was. Next time, I'll do takeout.

Had a mixed experience here, the Servers were kind but took a while to serve us, portions are massive and honestly mediocre, The Gyro was decent but had a plate of unnecessary salad to go along with it. I love Salad but It should be an option rather then the norm. Their drinks were great though simply enjoyable. They were also very flexible with our reservation as we had gotten stuck in traffic and arrived late. Lastly the Dessert was beautiful, a chocolate cheesecake with bits of homemade brownie and a raspberry sauce on top was delicious. SO to finish this of, Cost:3/5(expensive for unnecessary large portions) Service:3.5/5 Entree's:3/5 Dessert:5/5 Drinks:4/5(Made in house drinks not fountain soda or anything ) Atmosphere: 4/5 Final rating:4/5(rounded up)

I get very skeptical when the inside of a restaurant is VERY dimly lit. What are they literally hiding? I went on a rainy satuday night without a reservation and was immediately sat in a cave/booth table in the back. I am not kidding when I say this restaurant is very dimly lit. The only sources of light were candles. Now the food. We had the hummus, the chicken gyro plate and the falafel plate. The hummus comes with something like 8 pieces of pita and was delicious. Both the chicken gyro plate and the falafel plate were gigantic and came with pita and a salad. The dressing on the salad was fantastic. The chicken and the falafel were ok. Nothing special. We had the tiramisu dessert which was great. The price is fine since they give pretty generous portions

I was Amazed the minute I walked in. The staff were amazing, so polite!. Food was great. I didn't like the Tiramisu though, BUT the chocolate cake! Omg it was literally the best chocolate cake ever!. Definitely coming back ♥️
