A groups of friends and I bought our tickets and waited patiently in line excited to try this club out after lockdown. Unfortunately after a 30 minute wait, one of the two bouncers rudely told us to go away once we were to the front of the queue because apparently one of us was “too drunk.” We had only had two pints. Unless you don’t drink, I don’t see why you would show up to a club stone cold sober. Even then we were not drunk. Other people who were in far, far worse states than us were let in. The other bouncer told us to come back in a bit. So we rejoined the queue and waited an another hour. Then once we got to the front again, despite doing what was asked of us, we were still told to go away. This time in a practically insulting fashion. Horrible wait. Horrible treatment. Got to Atik instead,

It would be nice if this club puts more specific entry guidelines, such as, you won't be allowed in the club, if: - your obese. - you lack a sense of humor. - you look gay. - you wear contact lenses. just anything. don't waste peoples' time booking and confirming. then rejecting them at the door, I understand it is an exciting part of the Security personnel's job. but it might come off as offending to some individuals. Suggestion: Why not make it a members only club. and have an interviewing process to get membership. seriously that might work. I'd actually think of applying if you would do that!

Club itself is not bad, but people and the attitude is not one of the bests here; I suggested a drink to one female individual, she declined so I walked away, but then security comes and takes me out and asks me why I suggested a drink to that girl (is there something not OK in that? ), then I went back to a club and another guy approached to me and “on friendly basis” informed me that girls nicknamed me as a “stalker” guy… If you want just to relax yourself and/or with friends the club is totally fine, but making new friends or trying to have any sort of communication is not a good idea

HAPPY TO TAKE YOUR MONEY BUT NOT TREAT YOU AS HUMAN My friend and I booked a table for a birthday party and spent lots of money on drinks to then be chucked out for no reason. Moreover, we were refused our belongings which were still inside. They told me friend to call a taxi despite her saying multiple times her phone was still in the club. My Mum had get out of her bed and drive us back - they gave her it back along with some fabricated story the bag was handed in to lost property at 12:30am which it could not possibly have been. Devastated and will never be going back.

t was Friday night, There were too many people, the cloakroom was so full so we had to dance holding our jackets. The bouncers are rude, they were treating people like prisoners. On my way out, I wanted to have a sit on the chair but bouncer approached me and told me that I am not allowed to do it. The queue in the cloakroom made me feel uncomfortable as the bouncer kept moving me away from my friends. The music was good, I won’t deny it. But the capacity should be managed and people should be treated like customers ( allowing us to go to the cloakroom and sitting on the chair). Mostly, I was upset with bouncers because I didn’t do anything wrong to be treated like that.

Absolute joke. No gents loo- so don't need to pee guys- and aggressive bouncers. Trying to leave the garden area with my friend and his girlfriend, we had trouble moving because of people coming the other way, whereupon a bouncer started swearing at my friend and telling him to move, threatening to knock him out when my friend said he couldn't. Not sure what we were supposed to do? Fling people aside? To be honest, a night club shouldn't even be open without a functioning gents loo-, and bouncers threatening assault add to make Why Not a complete waste of time and a hazard to health.

Worst bouncers of any club, reject multiple types of proper ID and considering I paid £15 for a ticket would expect a lot better to be honest, however when reading the reviews I’m not that surprised anymore

Friday night after standing for 45mins me and my group of 14 mixed aged men were turned away as ' You are a bit old for in here' People that they accept is 18 to 30. Shocking way to treat people not mention ageist. Just save yourself the hassle and head to another club or bar.

This is my first time in Scotland. I came from North Yorkshire to have a good time in Edinburgh. Me and my mate waited in the queue and at the entrance bouncer checked my Id (Driving License) and said I can go in but because my mate didn’t bring any physical Id he can’t go in, I can understand that so I told him I’ll walk my mate to the hotel then I’ll come back. Later, when I came back, he asked me to see my Id again, I gave him, but this time he checked and refused to let me in then he asked me to show him any other documentation to prove him that the Id (driving license) I gave him is real, so I showed him my uni card, bank card & Yoti app where he can see and match my name, DOB & photo. I didn’t get it, I showed him my real Driving License and he refused to let me in a second time. Didn’t expect to be treated like that in Edinburgh.

Fun place, good music. In a week day was still quite crowded. Service still fast. They have a small yard - smoking area. Entrance on a weekday was free

The location is really nice but what they make of it is absolute catastrophic. The entry (10,5£) is far too expensive, the security is very unfriendly (we were a mixed group). The DJs were absolute incapable of properly mixing songs together without cutting from one beat to a complete other. Also the genres mixed together were very weird. The people consisted of mostly 16 y/o youngsters (prob 18 but looked 16) who very mostly aggressive and were all in for bashing on the floor. All in all a bad experience i wouldn't recommend. Won't come back

I tried to get in last night and refused access I was sober as a judge and the bouncer couldn't justify why he was turning me away.i can only assume it was because of the way I look which is wrong.if I was a young woman I would have got in no drama .Typical bouncers using what tiny shred of power they have to boost there egos.

Since we came in and after having one drink being kicked out for being ‘too drunk’ when even the bouncer said that we weren’t drunk at all, I would strongly do not recommend Why not, we traveled for 2 hrs just to get into this party, spent a lot of money for nothing, I will strongly advise not to everyone that I know to not come in here and we definitely won’t be back here again. This nightclub is a joke

Made my staff party the worst nightmare ! Firstly Around about 20 of us showed up after work night , got told to stand to the side as we didn’t have tickets , few minutes later I was told I can’t get in as I’ve had to much to drink…… when all of us had the equal amount to drink … “Steven & Derek “ the door staff told me get a burger and chill out … so Unprofessional you need to laugh , I’m 20 standing out side by my self as refused entry .

See a lot of bad reviews about the bouncers at WhyNot and they couldn’t be more accurate. Booked tickets to stay for 2 nights in Edinburgh and also booked tickets to attend WhyNot’s Deadinburgh on Halloween 2021. I brought driver license, bank card, got my mum to send me a photo of my passport as I live 1 hour away (photos match on both passport and drivers license) and also had my vaccine passport of which showed my name. The bouncer had looked at both my ID and vaccine passport and I was refused entry with a swift ‘i’m going to say no’ from one if the head bouncers, meaning that I did not get an explanation as to why I shouldn’t be let in, i'm guessing it’s because they thought it didn’t look like me. However, I provided sufficient forms of ID and was told that the bouncer did not have time to explain why he said no. Total incompetence and would not recommend going here

Probably the worst club I’ve ever been to. Coat people had so much bad attitude that I had to leave. I was there before prime time and there was no line, initially the bouncers were nice and I had no complaints. But when I got inside the club (and paid my entrance fee) I went to the coat room and this is where it all went wrong. Seems like a money laundering scheme as they only take cash and they make sure to separate the jacket liners and the jackets to get paid double. To be honest it’s the principle of the whole thing. I could have paid for five drinks but I was so annoyed at the attitude shown by the coat people that I just turned around and left. Enjoy laundering your cash you scabs.

My daughter was at the club last Friday. Her drink was spiked. She was very ill over the weekend. I believe the only 2 people that touched her drink was her friend and the bar staff. I know 100% it was not her friend. I did not want to put this up on the page but after 1 week of no reply to messages to the club I decided I have no choice. But to worn people to watch there drinks in the club as this has not been the 1st and it will not be the last unfortunately..

It's such a shame that what could potentially be quite a good nightclub is ruined by the overgrown 'lads' used as bouncers. It's a shame to see grown men bullying 17-19 year olds when most other Edinburgh clubs have more professional door staff. However, management doesn't seem to care about this as you can see bad reviews relating to these bouncers going back for years- yet nothing has changed.

Overcrowded, queues to get into the courtyard, queue from the courtyard to the ticket door, queue from the ticket door to the inside, queue to the cloakroom, and queue to the bar. Venue is relatively nice however bouncers act aggressive and do not make attendees feel like paying customers, more like prisoners. Music is alright-ish if your thing is overplayed tik tok songs but hey, I guess they're trying to appeal to all the clearly underage girls they let into this place, but refuse entry to males with 3 different forms of identification. Has alot of potential but right now of you're visiting Edinburgh I'd miss this one.

Normally I like why not. But I went out with friends for a 21st birthday last night & it was absolutely disgraceful. We paid £350 for the booth & drinks, roughly £40 per person. I had one drink, most people had 2 drinks, as we didn’t get any more mixers or cups brought to us throughout the night. It was rediculously busy so busy that there was condensation on the walls, we had to que for 10 mins to get to the outside/ smoking area and even longer ques for the toilets. The staff were not bothered about us, never checked in or topped anything up. It cost £5+ each to get in because we got on the guest list for discounted entry. But that was after we had already paid £350 . Don’t get a booth at why not for your birthday, pointless. Just get your own drinks at the bar or preferably any other bar or club in Edinburgh

Why do you only accept Driving licences and passports but not PASS hologram proof of age cards, despite the fact that driving licences can be forged just as easily? Also, PASS cards are fully supported by both the government, police and SIA and are a legitimate form of ID. Shame on you. You obviously must hate disabled people, especially those that can't apply for a provisional licence on medical grounds e.g. Epilepsy. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!!!

Me and my girl Nadine come here almost on a weekly basis. The beer garden is amazing that’s where we meet all our friends to laugh and cry after a long week at work. The cocktails are class they are some of the strongest in Edinburgh, the music is quite good too I often find myself bobbing and weaving to the beat of the DJs chosen soundtrack of the night, and the crowd are good looking like us and we like it that way. It’s not the Ritz, but it’s not The Hive. 4/5 for us. See you there this Saturday for some quality banter.

They randomly change the prices in the middle of the night without warning : vodka redbull going from 3.5 to 9.5 and they act like you're being a karen when you get mad about it. + at one point they should stop letting people in because on some nights you can barely move! it could become dangerous!

To be honest security staff is literally RECIST because I booked under guest list and on event day I visited and on security desk I showed my original id card BRP and they says that that image on security card and real face isn’t similar because on id BRP image with short beard and hairs and current beard and hair is long that’s why security staff isn’t allows us in seriously it’s sense less. I’ll tell them I’ll provide you everything like Original id BRP / Student card whatever you wants but they’re not allow us in. And then I’ll plan to go another club with my guest and they allow us in see that’s the mind set of the people. Trust me I’m delight and I’ll definitely RISE that issue every single time publicly because it’s my one of the best experience ever and it’s disrespect of mine t in front of my guest. #shame 👎 #racismisevil

I was there on new year. Club was good but staff, particularly the “bouncers” were some of the rudest workers I’ve ever met. One lady in particular spent the night in the smoking area swearing and hurling abuse at anyone within ear shot. At one point she threw a glass bottle at a bin which smashed everywhere and started laughing. The male staff member on the door was also very rude and was being in my opinion verbally aggressive to wrist-banded guests. He claimed two of the people in our group trying to get in was lying and wasn’t with us when they were. Some of the members of staff made this a hostile environment.

At one point for a while, this was my regular. But since around July 18 the door staff simply now take a look at me and my friends, check our id and say "find somewhere else pal" I don't even drink, I personally feel as if they see coloured boys they automatically reject us now. The place next door (shanghai), gets too crowded so we try not to go there often, but I once tried to go in there after being told no by the staff at 'why not'. The staff at 'shanghai' told me that if they said no then i'm not getting in there either. So we now just go to lulu's down the road, its not too bad I guess.

THE WORST service and THE RUDEST staffs I have ever met in my entire life! A male staff member even pushed me !!!? I left my black puffer jacket in the cloakroom, and paid for the fee, but the staff told me that my jacket was not there at the end of the party. All of the staffs acted very rudely to me and said that my lost property was none of their business. At the end of the day, I have to go back home wearing only a tank top in almost 0 celsius weather.

THE BOUNCER!!!!!! i always went to why not, was my one of my fav clubs. But i went this weekend on the saturday. All my friends got in and when it got me. I showed my ID to the bouncer( i am 20) he said that isn’t me and was telling me i need to another form of ID. See tbf i think he is just picking and choosing who he wants in. None of the staff was there to help me when i asked for a manager. Terrible service

Yet another night where you have to queue outside for over half an hour (sometimes over an hour) to get inside and find a half empty club. Once you get inside, the drinks are far too expensive, it eventually gets so crowded that you can’t move and you listen to the same playlist that you’ve listened to every time before, yet the DJ seems to be mixing it? At the end of the night the bouncers force you to move without actually justifying why you have to move, then get very aggressive and call their mates over to make you move, even if you’re waiting on your mates getting their coats- which also takes over half an hour. Overall, worse than average night and it’s extremely expensive.

Ageist or racist ? I was out on Friday , 15th April and wanted an entry to the club and the bouncer at the door didn’t allow me and said that the club was not for someone of my age . He said that crowd in the club was between 19 and 24 and not for me. I told him he can’t be ageist and I was out for a drink . He clearly thought I was too old to be out enjoying myself !!! I am 47 and for goodness sake how can anyone deny my way of life in day n age . It was very very offensive to be told that I was old and should go somewhere else . Quite appalling and shocking . I am also originally from India and so not sure it thay was a factor too. The colour of my skin that is

Exactly what is the big problem, the door guard Verdi is so rude and racist that he didn't even explain to me the reason for not allowing me, I asked him several times to explain and he didn't give a reason. In this country, I think that place does not deserve all these costs and disrespect.

Usually a good night but staff were awful last night, had one member violently pushing my back, barging me through a corridor full of people who couldn’t move because it was full, wasn’t happy when I asked her to stop so told the bouncer I punched her and got me removed. Luckily they realised that wasn’t the case and let me back in. Staff need to come off their high horse and treat customers with respect. Won’t be back for a while, and hope the member of staff gets pulled up on this.

Capacity is poorly managed as far too many people are allowed in during special event nights especially when opening back up after restrictions are lifted leading to over crowding, pushing and shoving in queues. Bouncer inside thought it was acceptable to grab my arm and move me away from my friend when I was waiting to get my jacket in the cloakroom queue making me feel extremely uncomfortable. Only time you’ll have a good night here is when it isn’t busy

Too many people in at one time to be fire safe. Bottles and cups are left all over the floor, serious trip hazard. Entry fee overpriced. Drinks priced as expected in Edinburgh.

False Advertisement, advertised that the club was open till 5am and closed at 4am. After arriving at 2am, being told the club would close at 5am and paying the £10 entry fee, the manager of the night couldn't see the issue and was not willing to give a refund or even half a refund. Been to whynot many times through the week and never had any complaints but I feel in this case this is out of order and morally wrong.

This place is a joke. They decide not to let in people at random even though I was sober. Sack the bouncers and get a more responsible security team, clearly they are inexperienced and need training.

Wouldn't let mate in because she had no drivers license based because of disability but still had 3 forms of valid ID with PASS hologram issued from government. Discrimination at its finest

Anything good that happened in that club was ruined by the cloakroom. We queued for over an hour to wait at the front as they lost my ticket. Some bar staff tried to help but others clearly didn’t care. All round ruined my night.

I’m not sure why entry is so expensive. The inside is nothing special and the music choice is pretty boring. The place is basically one massive VK and Elfbar advert and the people who go here look you up and down when you walk in. Unwelcoming and unimpressive.

Me and my mate came last month, first time and was amazing highly recommend this place, bar staff was cracking away to us, music was top notch, had no issues with bouncers either. although I nearly took a heart attack on the spot when in the toilet I was asked for £5 by one of the staff in there, that needs resolved .

Do not go here!!! Paid £15(!) for a ticket to experience awful behaviour from bouncers, staff and people in the club. We saw completely sober people with tickets be refused due to being ‘too drunk’. Was physically harassed by the same guy multiple times in the club and the security staff did nothing despite the guy being pointed out. Bouncers were very aggressive and antagonising to people who had done nothing wrong. To get our bag back from the cloakroom, my friend was told to ‘turn on the waterworks’ by a staff member as the only way to get it back before 4am (which actually worked). Overall the worst clubbing experience of my life!!!

I have a complaint with one of the guards. He hasn't let my friend and I enter the door without any problems for two days. If they don't fix our problem, I will file a complaint. You can check the camera from 22:35 to 22:45. He caused trouble for no reason. Even the other security knew he was a racist and would betray us

I came here for the first time with some locals that know this place and I’ve gotta say this was the best club I’ve been to in the city. I did a few pub crawls and there’s some good bars and clubs in the city but this one’s my fav. I came on a Monday and it was really busy, drinks are super cheap and the music was some of the best I’ve heard. The remixes were awesome. Defo one of the best djs I’ve ever heard in a club and really glad he didn’t play the full songs. Staff were really nice too. Only thing is that it seems to be mostly a young crowd, like a bunch of 18/19 yo, as a 22 yo I felt a bit old. But maybe that’s just the day I went. Overall one of the best clubs I’ve been to.

Went 2 days before Xmas, far too many crammed into the club, couldn't move, dance, hard to fight Ur way through the crowd to go to the toilet, cigarette etc, 5people deep at the bar. I feel it was all about making money for the club, not managing numbers so we can have a decent night.

Ok so I am quite frequent with this place my previous experiences was amazing but recently what gone wrong with this place management, From past few weeks I am paying entry charges and as I enters in club the same bouncer is always asking me to go out. Even if I am not drunk not troubling anybody still this is happening with me which is really sad things which feels like racism. It is really not good.
