Such a fab hidden little gem. We went for lunch and didn't need a booking, however we may have been just lucky as it was very busy. The food is good and we opted for the tapas special. I enjoyed what we picked, especially the black pudding with the cold chutney, it was an unusual, but surprisingly nice mix. Great place for lunch or a bite before a show. Ideal for get togethers as the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable.

Phenomenal tapas. Non-existent service. We sat al fresco (big mistake) and the THREE (!) outdoor waiters tonight spent the entire evening comparing muscles, chatting to each other and ignoring any and all guests. Felt too awkward to remove the service charge from our bill, but should have. Please sort your staff, they really ruined an otherwise great meal.

Straight out of. Barcelona!! Viva Espana 🇪🇸☝🏼 This place was soooo good on so many levels I don't know where to start. If you're ever in Edinburgh, Scotland and wanna taste of Spain, you have to go to this place. The ambience, the music, the service, and the food was all excellent. We had more tapas than we originally planned to but it was all good. I have been to the final restaurants in Barcelona and I can tell her that this place competes with them all. It is a little unorthodox the fact that it is right in the heart of metropolitan Edinburgh. Needless to say, I recommend this place for sure!

This place was one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Every single tapas dish was beyond delicious. I would recommend the £24.95 set menu, in particular. The chorizo and the goats cheese stood out to me as being particularly delicious. The service was excellent too, and I found the staff to be efficient and friendly, even though it was super busy. At one point they took slightly longer to bring me a Coke Zero, but then apologised and said it was on the house, without me even asking them about the drink twice. I thought that was very decent. The restaurant also has a lovely vibe, and I was surprised time and again by the quality and large quantity of food we got. When the coffee came at the end, it came with a piece of tablet, which I appreciated as a tourist! I’d definitely recommend this place and I will be back next time in Edinburgh for sure!

Each of the top as we ordered were super tasty. Very kind staff, and an excellent ambience. We had a nice little booth by a window overlooking the sidewalk and it was nice and quiet and we could hear each other talk

A very nice place and good food. That said it is expensive. We were 6 ppl (4 adults + 2 kids) and our bill was 200£ with soft drinks only. We had Paella which was ok. It was dry with just 2 prawns and 5 mussels. So expensive for 29£. That said other dishes were quite nice. We had - Tortilla espanola - berenjena al Horno - pollo marinado - pollo Al ajillo - calamres - gambas picantes - gambas rebozadas - bolo fresco - pan fresco - acetunas alinadas - patata fritas - pomegranate sling, Shirley temple, coke , Fanta, - gambas pili - pescado Adoboda - churros - creme Catalan We had so many things that can’t remember much. Except that food was very tasty and nice. Only thing to get a star down was that the serving sizes are quite small for the value. But then this is Edinburgh.. Definitely can visit again when not so hungry 😉😉

Delicious food with friendly staff and characterful interior. We ordered the menu especial and weren’t disappointed! The aubergine with couscous was divine as well as the goats cheese. Would definitely recommend to anybody visiting Edinburgh!

I don’t say this often, but I really did not enjoy the food. It was really low quality. Four waiters walked past me multiple times and didn’t even look up to take my order. I had to ask three different waiters if I could order before someone finally cane. The meat tasted so old on a few of the tapas. The only two things I can recommend highly here are the Scallops and the cappuccino (with the sweet treat they gave you on the side). Go with caution and read the reviews before you order dishes.

My first experience eating tapas! They have a wide range of vegetarian/vegan selections. I would recommend the couscous with aubergine; I liked it the best out of the three veggie options I tried.

This is a very pretty and bustling restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh city centre. I came here with my partner after trying to convince her how good Spanish food can be but unfortunately cafe Andaluz didn't seal that message for me. We got the mixed chicken and seafood paella which honestly I was expecting to be wonderful and just like you'd get in Spain but unfortunately it was not. There was no socarrat on the paella, the squid and prawns were very overcooked and it overall lacked seasoning and depth of flavour. We ordered Catalan pan to go with and whilst it tasted okay the tomatoes tasted tinned and portion size was too small. The sangria was nice as were the churros. I'm underwhelmed by my experience however I might give it another go at some point in the distant future and try tapas rather than paella.

I stopped here for a quick bite and a throwback to my time living in spain, and the atmosphere did not disappoint. The restaurant is very big but they made it feel very cosy and its all decorated in southern spanish style. They offer food from all over spain on the menu, from phil phil in basque country to the paella in valencia. Good quality food that reminds me of spain. Definitely, I would recommend it, although it does not stand out. Service was also fast and friendly, but it seemed a big disorganised. Definitely, I would highly recommend this place for a good tapa or drinks with your friends and family. They also serve cocktails. I am coming back to this one!

Gambas pil-pil⭐⭐⭐:roasted prawns with garlic, olive oil, and chili (the sauce is quite unique, I've tried several prawn tapas, and this is a new taste for me ) Spanish thick omelet ⭐⭐⭐⭐: eggs with potatoes, and some veggies in sauce Mix paella ⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Tasty paella, perfect 💯 I love it

Lovely restaurant with very tasty dishes. Service and staff are friendly and helpful but I don't like to be told we can only have a table for 90mins. We would have ordered more food but our dishes and plates etc were taken away while we were still eating our last mouthful. Such a shame as the restaurant is very nice.

We had a great celebratory meal here with quite a large party of about 14 of us and the food and service was excellent. Despite a couple of difficult questions about the menu and some picker kids in our group (and a packed restaurant), the waiter was patient and took our order well. The food was brought out surprisingly quickly considering our party size and just how busy the restaurant was, and all of the dishes were absolutely delicious. I had the fried haddock, a chorizo and black pudding stew and padron peppers and they were all perfect. Everyone else in our group was very happy with their choices as well, and I'll definitely be coming back again!

The restaurant is really nice, people speak Spanish but the paella was not as good as the location.

Came into this welcoming restaurant on a rainy afternoon and enjoyed many fine tapas and paired with both Rioja wine and regional beer. Very satisfied with the food, service and atmosphere.

This is a lovely spot for dinner, 6 tapas (1 meat, 5 veggie) and two drinks for £30 each, including tip. They were very busy, but kindly seated us at the bar so we could order drinks and look at the menu while we waited for a table to open up. The wait was shorter than expected, and the drinks we ordered in the meantime were great. I had the pomegranate mocktail which I would recommend! Of the tapas we had, the goat cheese with marmalade and the lamb tagine were the standouts, both fantastic.

Came here after a bad experience at Miller & Carter. I was welcomed by very friendly staff, the service was attentive but not in-your-face, the food was very tasty (could have been a tad warmer) and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommended.

It’s not the first time I was there, I love the Spanish food. We asked for a table without a booking and we were lucky to get a cozy table, friendly staff that talk to you in Spanish if you want. The atmosphere is amazing and the food a good taste, we were served prompt and from time to time the waiters checked if everything is right with your dishes. I recommend this restaurant if you visit Edinburgh and want to have the taste of Spain 🇪🇸.

Surprisingly very busy tapas establishment on a Friday evening. This business looks to be very popular and I can see why. Aside from the expected variety of tapas items the service is very quick and efficient and we were actually able to walk up and get a table for two without pre-booking. Very lively environment due to the number of dining groups. My only reservation was the patatas braves which I usually expect as lightly fried but here the pieces were steamed. Apart from that observation it was very enjoyable food experience.

Really enjoyed the food and wine there. The waiter was super friendly and accommodating but it was ridiculously loud. I was practically shouting to talk to my friends. Clearly a very popular place with the locals Lots of food options for veggies and meat eaters.

What a great place this is! We have been customers since Cafe Andaluz first opened and have had many family occasions here. A light lunch yesterday on my wife’s 65 birthday was yet again another success. The food is always superb and the staff are so friendly no matter how busy the restaurant is. Love it !

Lovely food and a beautiful ascetic environment, staff could have been a little more friendly and engaging but they weren't unwelcoming. Possibly just down to the mask mandate - making conversation between server and customer a little difficult! Did not dissapoint though, had a lovely meal.

Great food, good service and nice atmosphere. Range of tapas dishes were excellent and supremely tasty, huge wine list but we went for a good old San Miguel. Other options are available if you don't fancy Tapas. Can definitely recommend a visit.

Great ambiance, with Spanish tiles on the walls and tables, a fabulous list of wines and cocktails (so many types of Gin!), And delicious tapas served quickly. I was stuffed (probably because I added albondigas even after I was full......)

Very cosy and lovely ambience. The customer service was top notch and the tapas was delicious. We had a long day post travel but the staff made sure we were well looked after. I would like to thank Freya who was really grand to us in her service. Their selection of wines are really good and I would highly recommend their food.

Service was excellent we had a young gentleman, also the most helpful accommodating lady who really couldn’t do more for us. If I am honest she made the experience so much better. I think she was polish she is based in there other site. The goats cheese was just delicious I wish I could of purchased the marmalade to take home it was just so good. The only problem it was so loud we couldn’t hear each other. That was no way fault of the restaurant but the fact it was New Year’s Eve. From the minute we entered restaurant to minute we left we had amazing service. Thank you for making our new year tasty

A really cute restaurant and the food is quite tasty. The menus are a really good deal. The reason why I am dropping a star is because the menus and online booking are misleading. Online booking said bread and olives were included in the price, but at the restaurant they said it wasn’t. The waiter kindly gave us the bread and olives on the house, but if going by what was stated on the online booking, these should have been included in the price anyway. The menu also states that the paella is cooked fresh, but when asked if I could have the seafood paella with meat stock instead of seafood stock because of allergies, the waiter said this was not possible as everything was cooked in the morning and only baked to order. Quite a misleading claim on the menu, and this should be removed. Overall, would recommend and will still be coming back as the food is very delicious.
