I simply loved this place. I loved it for so many reasons like ambience, quality of food, cleanliness, authentic South Indian food, the quick service and digital way to place and pay for your order. I definitely recommend this place. #satisfiedSoul #satisfiedTummy

Food was good. Loved the spice level on the chili chutney. The surprise was pineapple rasam, yummy. The online ordering and payment was so good. I feel some clients who are technologically challenged may find it hard it without a menu to look at.

We were on a road trip to East coast from MN. Authentic South Indian restaurants like these are rare in the Midwest. And they all invariably serve a brown color watery liquid masquerading as Madras Filter Coffee and they swear by their life that it is a freshly brewed Kaapi. So, when we decided on an East Coast trip, the very first thing on our list was not Niagra, not Times Square, but to have a proper Kaapi at HSB (Hotel Saravanbhavan). For starters, HSB is one of the biggest chains of restaurants in Chennai, India. The brand is more like an identify of the city. Although, HSB is losing its sheen at home, their restaurants in the US still have the same charm. We were here on the day of Christmas for Lunch time and they had South Indian Thali as well as the default South Indian breakfast items - Idli, Pongal, Dosai and Vadai. They were served in a traditional way on a Banana Leaf. Washed it all down with 2 Coffees (yes, they were so good that I ended up having 2) The Vibes this place was giving, the presentation of food and the amalgamation of aromas of Sambar and Kaapi immediately transported me back to my Chennai days, where having a Sambar Vadai and sipping a Kaapi in HSB was all the fuel you needed to kickstart the day in Tidel park (My office location). The restaurant was packed. But considering the crowd, the service was pretty fast. Pricing is high, but given the authenticity, taste and the quality, I do not mind this burning a hole in my pocket once a while. H We have been to the ones in Lexington Avenue and West Windsor. Although we didn't have any complaints over there, this is our favorite of the lot. Highly recommended if you are looking for some authentic South Indian Tamil style food.

Saravanaa bhavan is one of the best restaurant for South Indian food. The food was prepared freshly and delicious with beautiful ambiance. The staff was nice and helpful. The service was quick. They are using contactless ordering and payment for dine in which is amazing in this Covid time.

The food was delicious, and the service was quick. I cam here for lunch around 12 and many booth were available, and around 1 pm all were taken- so keep that in mind. This restaurant's primary appeal is that it only provides 100% vegetarian cuisine, which keeps people coming back. The majority of visitors to Saravanaa Bhavan come for the Dosa. One of the most prominent South Indian restaurants. I strongly encourage you to try their Thali, masala dosa, paratha, and idli wada.

Now, if you’re in Edison, you’re bound to visit this place. Either your overly ambassadoring friend pestered you, or you read the most illustrious reviews on Google, you end up visiting the place. Well, impartial reviewer that I am, I still say that the place deserves the honor it’s been showered upon. The food is impeccably scrumptious, the serving size is unbelievably perfect and the food standards are as high as they can be. With this monopoly, I don’t lie, they have stretched the prices a bit higher than what I believe they can be, but alas, who else worries about the extra bucks you spend for an amazingly authentic South Indian cuisine at your Edison doorstep!

Came here for brunch on 4th of July. We waited 5 mins before being seated. The food and the service was excellent. Saravanaa Bhavan holds true to its brand value and truly had the power of invoking nostalgia!

The onion rava masala dosa and paper dosa were delicious and crispy. The chutneys and sambhar were decent. I have tried kothu paratha and idli before, and they were well made. Tastes best when eaten at the restaurant, straight out of the kitchen. The quality of the food has improved significantly from a few years ago

A hidden gem for authentic South Indian cuisine! The uttapam was flawlessly cooked, and the sambar was a flavor explosion. The ambiance is inviting, and the staff is attentive. A must-visit for authentic South Indian flavors! They also have tasty paan for after lunch refreshment.

We love the combos they have. It’s a weekend go to brunch place. The food here feels home. They generally have availability so you just walk in. The maximum wait is around 10 minutes during weekends.

One of the cleanest Indian restaurant with elite interiors and heart warming ambience. I am a vegan had lunch with my friends and ordered their special Thali, fortunately most of the items in the thali is Dairy free and the right amount of spice, consistency, flours was lip smacking and authentic.Their new weekend special Idiyappam with( Black chick peas masala korma and sweet coconut milk) luckily we got to eat today, not to exaggerate was the best one in the whole of US continent. Please don’t forget to try on the week ends.Such amazing staffs were kids friendly and very well organized.Within 12 minutes we got all the food on table for a pack of 14. Keep up the Good job team, big shoutout for the chef and the administration 👍

Went out for dinner. Their food is average in taste. Ordered cheese masala dosa and tomato onion chili uttapam. Was astonished to see cheese masala dosa with mozzarella cheese instead of Amul cheese. The Mozzarella made the dosa more like a pizza. The uttapam was good but lacked spices. The service is very well and excellent. The atmosphere is great as well and they have plenty of seating. Parking could be tough at busier times with other restaurants sharing the same strip mall.Overall hygienic food with average taste rating.

Ambiance, service was good. Ordered cheese dosa, which my daughter liked and was good when it was warm. Mini Thali and Full Thali was not as expected. We did not get the south Indian tast given that this is a South Indian hotel. Even water they offer bottle and charge not good at all. Still lot of hotel offer water for free.

We ordered south indian thali and masala dosa. The thali was good, specially the poori and kurma were yummy. Dosa was really very light and crispy, the chutneys were delicious. We ordered coffee as well which was not that great. Would definitely visit next time to try other items when in the area.

Unfortunately no longer a good south indian place compared to other options available. There is a significant drop in taste and quality of food in recent times. (Medu vada was so hard, Parotta was not cooked well, pathetic plantain bajji, poor rava khichdi and very poor podi dosai). saravanaa bhavan was not like this before 😞. We used to travel from Jersey City to Edison for eating from Saravanaa Bhavan only. Also, charging for drinking water and not providing water is a poor quality service I feel. Come on , you are charging for food. But can't understand the logic of charging for drinking water. Days are not far where you will charge us for electricity and seats. I hope the restaurant see this, and will put some effort to improve the taste.

One of the most popular places for a South Indian meal. Love the dosa and idli here, they offer many variations within idly/dosa. The service is pretty quick, the ambience is very clean and the taste is very authentic. I like all the chutneys provided with the dishes. One of my recommended places on oak tree road.

Delicious food. Heavy wait time. The manager was very rude. He wore a mask and called names for booked tables, which was not audible. Upon that, there was a huge crowd that we had to stand outside, and we didn't even know that he called our names. After half hour we asked what's wrong why is the wait so long and the manager there replied as if he is a dictator that he will decide when to call and whom to call, which in my opion is not hospitality and disrespect towards customers. We ended up getting a table, and the order took long to come on the table. There was a kid with us and was hungry, but his order didn't come on the table even after several reminders. It was just a plain dosa that he wanted. After all the elders finished their food, that plain dosa came on the table, which he felt was a little disappointing. There was another supervisor who saw our situation, and as a complimentary, he gave the kid a mango Lassi just to make him happy. We thank him.

Food was good and service was very fast. Every thing you have to order from your phone. Only thing that disappointed me was they were charging for water. Only bottled water was available for 50 cents each. Nice ambiance and has good amount of parking in front of restaurant.

We have been coming to this location from last few years and the food and service was excellent, today after a long time we decided to bring some friends for good food, and what a disaster, They have the most clueless staff, the food was absolutely a disaster, how can samber be cold? We all ordered food with Samber and it was room temperature, medhu vada was full of oil? They don’t take the orders from you anymore, you need to use the phone, after ordering they bring the food at intervals, and nobody ever came to check if everything is okay? and they automatically add gratuity?

The first thing that hits you is the cleanliness and the bright ambience. The front desk and the servers are very welcoming. We did not had to wait for a Saturday afternoon & we’re given a booth upon entrance. The open kitchen shows the amount of confidence they have on their diligence towards hygiene. The food is very well portioned and value for money in comparison of other Deccan speciality eateries around the area. We enjoyed the rava masala onion dosa, chole bhature, cheese masala dosa, filter coffee and an additional point for the wonder mango lassi!

My go to spot! love the idly and coffee here, nothing compares to the standard of authentic South Indian food you get here in Jersey. Fast service, great food, great experience I recommend!

Specialist in South Indian food…waiting could be longer on prime time….very well known brand in India…usually less spicy…they don’t even serve WATER for free…might happen that they could park the trash cart beside your table while cleaning the other side.

Authentic South Indian food. The service was so quick. No waiting time even on Friday & that too Diwali time. We had Pongal, paneer chilly, chetinadu cheese masala dosa, filter coffee, rava dosa, chole bhature and my most fav dish of this place is bisi bele bath and idli. If you are visiting this place must try bisi bele bath. Even though South Indian restro but paneer chilly was also good in taste. Must visit this place. Loved it!!! Would visit again here. The only thing I felt was the chutney was not good and sambhar was not served hot.

Excellent customer service and very hygiene. No waiting time when we went for dinner. We ordered combo-3, poori ,south indian meals & filter coffee. Curries are not upto the mark in thali as we are from south we expected more. poori is made with wheat flour which we liked it. But coming to tiffins section vada, pongal are excellent. Highly disappointed with sambar. It’s just bland.. definitely recommend for those who loves to eat tiffins.

Great spot! We got a bunch of food and everything was delicious! The only thing I’d say is some of the stuff wasn’t as hot as we would have liked by the time it came out - not sure if a bunch had been made in advance and kept out for a bit or what. But overall, had a good time and would recommend it to other folks.

Loved the food in this restaurant. The food evokes the feeling of being back in my homeland, and the menu section was fantastic. Though we loved the House specials and the South Indian menu, Loved the hygiene and courtesy. Most special is that some older family members who eat garlic and onion free food had many options to choose from. One of us vegan. In all, the people and place make you feel special, and for a big family with many kinds of food choices, everything was available and delicious. More than five stars!! Excellent and courteous staff handed our pack amazingly in a very busy schedule !!

We were in Edison and craving South Indian food. This place was one of the top search results. We gave it a try. Best decision made. We ordered two dosa, absolutely delicious. Huge serving perfect to sample/share on the table, good seating area, little to no wait time to be seated. Staff was very friendly. I want to try the puries next stop.

The food is amazing here especially the coffee. I have never seen coffee presented this way. Also the service is outstanding from the front office to our waiter. Also place is maintained very well and it’s very clean.

I feel the quality has been degraded so much when it comes to all the chutneys and sambar. None of the chutneys and sambar were edible because all of them has SO MUCH SALT. Even the idli's were soaked in sambar and we're so bitter. Quick note: not everyone who is getting food from here loves Salt... Bottom line:.. They should now change the name from SaravAnna bhavan to SALTY bhavan

Visited this place last Sunday for late lunch around 3 pm. The ambience , atmosphere is good . It’s a huge place. We find the table quickly and we got the food within 5 minutes . The service was super fast. We ordered veg thali with puri and it was super hit. The food was yummy they only give one puri and lot of rice . You can order additional puri/chapati at extra cost but there I no extra cost for the curries . We loved the aloo sabji, beetroot sabji, green beans curry . Overall a good place for veg thali. I was only disappointed with the cheese dosa . They put so much cheese that it was not tasting good ! My kid Cudnt finish it and was not feeling good after eating even the half cheese dosa. One request with the restaurant to reduce the amount of cheese. Don’t ruin the taste with lots of cheese . Plain dosa was good with the chutneys !!! Definitely recommend this place if you are in the area. I am going to visit again soon 😀We also tried mango lassi and buttermilk .

It is an excellent place for South Indian vegetarian food. Rava dosa, kimay idli and vada sambar is a must to have. Rava kesari is best desert. Both filter coffee and masala chai were excellent. Ambience is perfect. We were served by Priya and I must say her hospitality was a refreshing change. Must place to visit.
