I pass by it every day while going to my school. Such a great building. I wish the medical school was in this place but it is not possible. You can't move all these hospitals to the centre of the University.

Cairo University (Arabic: جامعة القاهرة‎, romanized: Gām‘et El Qāhira), known as the Egyptian University from 1908 to 1940, and King Fuad I University from 1940 to 1952, is Egypt's premier public university. Its main campus is in Giza, immediately across the Nile from Cairo. It was founded on 21 December 1908; however, after being housed in various parts of Cairo, its faculties, beginning with the Faculty of Arts, were established on its current main campus in Giza in October 1929. It is the second oldest institution of higher education in Egypt after Al Azhar University, notwithstanding the pre-existing higher professional schools that later became constituent colleges of the university. It was founded and funded as the Egyptian University by a committee of private citizens with royal patronage in 1908 and became a state institution under King Fuad I in 1925.[2] In 1940, four years following his death, the University was renamed King Fuad I University in his honor. It was renamed a second time after the Egyptian revolution of 1952. The University currently enrolls approximately 155,000 students in 20 faculties and 3 institutions. It counts three Nobel Laureates among its graduates and is one of the 50 largest institutions of higher education in the world by enrollment.

One of the best universities in Egypt. One of the country’s oldest institutions, the public university was founded in 1908 and has about 230,000 students of whom about 3 per cent are from overseas. Just 2 per cent of staff and 2 per cent of students at Egyptian universities come from outside the country. International students living in Cairo enjoy relatively low living costs and have some of the country’s ancient attractions on their doorstep. The University of Cairo has more than 25 faculties, including engineering, medicine, agriculture and archaeology, with undergraduates programmes in subjects stretching from pomology to physical therapy.

The number of its Nobel laureates graduates is 3 and was ranked globally in 2004 in the list of the largest 500 universities in the world and more than 155 thousand students graduate annually. [1] With the intensification of the Egyptian national movement in the early twentieth century, an elite group of national action leaders and pioneers of the Enlightenment and Social Thought movement in Egypt such as Muhammad Abdo, Mustafa Kamel, Muhammad Farid, Qasim Amin and Saad Zaghloul emerged to achieve a dream that long caressed the imagination of the people of this country, which is the creation A university that rises in the country in all walks of life, and is a beacon of free thought and a basis for scientific renaissance and a bridge that connects the country to the sources of modern science, and a crucible in which the necessary cadres in all disciplines are prepared to participate in the world in its scientific progress, but this wish has found strong opposition from the British occupation authorities, especially from its dean who Re Cromer, who realized that the establishment of the University in Egypt, means finding an educated class of Egyptians realize that independence is not merely liberating the land, but it is the liberation of the Egyptian character and starting in the hypochondriac city and civilization. In spite of this, this opposition did not stop among the enthusiasts of the idea, as a committee of patriots who made sacrifices and endured hardships quickly took the matter until the idea came to light and became a reality, and the Egyptian University was opened as a private university on the twenty-first of December 1908 in a ceremony Majestic was held in the Hall of the Laws Shura Council attended by Khedive Abbas Hilmi II and some of the statesmen and dignitaries. The first president of the university was Ahmed Lotfy El-Sayed. On the evening of the opening day, she began studying at the university in the form of lectures, and when he had not been assigned a permanent headquarters at that time, the lectures were given in separate halls that were announced in daily newspapers such as the Law Council, the Law Schools Council, the High Schools Club, and the newspaper house until the university took her place In Saraj Al-Khawaja Nestor Ganaklis is currently occupied by the American University in Cairo. As a result of the financial hardships that the university was exposed to during the First World War, its building moved to Saray Muhammad Sidqi in Al-Azhar Square on Al-Falaki Street as an expense economy. The fledgling university struggled to stand on its own feet, and in order to be able to prepare a core for its teaching staff, it initiated sending some of its distinguished students to European universities to obtain a doctoral degree and return to teaching modern science in it and was headed by these envoys Taha Hussein, Mansour Fahmy, and Ahmed Dhaif. The university also established a library containing the precious books that were dedicated to it from inside and outside the country. As a result of the high expectations of the Ahlia University, which expressed the aspirations of the Egyptians, the government considered in 1917 the establishment of a public university and established a committee, which indicated that the existing high schools should be included in the university, and it included the schools of law and medicine to the university on March 12, 1923, and an agreement was reached between the government and the university administration Eligibility to integrate into the new university, provided that the Faculty of Arts is the nucleus of this university. [3] On March 11, 1925 a decree was issued for the law establishing the public university in the name of the Egyptian University and it was made up of four colleges: Arts, Sciences, Medicine, and Law. In the same year, the School of Pharmacy included the Faculty of Medicine. In 1928 the university started to establish permanent headquarters for it in its current location, which it obtained from the government as compensation for the land donated by Princess Fatima Ismail, daughter of Khedive Ismail, to the university. On August 22, 1935, he issued the Royal Decree Law No. 911 to merge the schools of Engineering, Agriculture, Higher Trade and Veterinary Medicine into the Egyptian University. On October 31, 1935, a decree was issued attaching the Aquarium Institute to the Egyptian University. In 1938, the School of Veterinary Medicine separated from the Faculty of Medicine to become an independent college. On May 23, 1940 Law No. 27 was issued to change the name of the Egyptian University to Fouad I University. On April 24, 1946, Law No. 33 was issued to annex the Faculty of Dar Al Uloom to the university.

(Translated by Google) If we talk about buildings and history, and what university did the geniuses and successful people come out, it is sure that they deserve all the stars of the world. Unfortunately, the educational level has declined a lot. Filling and preserving system, no need. I think the expenses have to increase a bit to keep up with the times. You do not stay at the level of private universities, of course, but those who pay now are farce. I wish the unhelpful coordination system be canceled and the application will be direct to the college, according to the student. I want to study (Original)
