I’ve eyed this place for a while now and I’m so glad I finally made my way here! When you walk in, you go to the right and place upper order on the computer and pay. Came with my friend and we ordered the chili Mac n cheese tator tots, fried sweet corn nuggets and mozzarella sticks with a side of ranch. The chili Mac n cheese was pretty good, the chili could’ve been seasoned better but the Mac n cheese and tator tots were cooked perfectly. The fried sweet corn nuggets were surprisingly really good, it was my first time ever having that. But the mozzarella sticks were so good! They were fresh and melted in my mouth as soon as I bit into it. And their ranch here is so delicious! I think they make it from scratch. The Reece’s peanut butter shake we got was also pretty good! Nice and dense like a shake should be. Over all Pretty good food. My only complaint is that the staff made me feel like I was bothering them when I asked for water or the ranches we ordered.. we dropped our fork and I waked up to the counter to ask for another one and kind of waited for a good minute.. it wasn’t j til I said excuse me that they acknowledged me there..

I got the OG burger with everything on it and Cajon fries. The burger was medium rare like I ordered. The fries were crispy, hot, and well seasoned. The service is fast and there is plenty of seating. Parking is tight. There is stool seating at the bar; there is beer. A+

Although I saw the big sign out front proclaiming it to be San Diego's best burger and loaded fries, I still checked with a couple of locals who confirmed this to be pretty good. It was ok. The burger lived up to the hype, the fries, not so much. I did ask for a recommendation at the drive thru window, but the young lady was pointing me towards something with chicken in it. Sorry, these two things I ordered was way too much food already, and I didn't think I'd want chicken in my fries WITH a burger. Still, all the food was delicious, and cooked correctly, but the real reason for three stars instead of four was the customer service AND THE PRICE. Granted I ordered two beers to go as well, but $45 is too much. It wasn't that delicious. The wait time (+25 minutes), the messy bathroom, the lack of smiles and no feeling of being welcome, the beer keg problem that was more important than the customer, the leaky beer cups, no silverware I included (see the fries); all of this led me to leave one of my lower scores here. I hope this score doesn't keep others from trying the food. Instead I hope the management sees this and shares with their staff. You only get one chance to make a first impression. I won't be back.

Burgers were pretty funky alright. I wouldn't recommend this place. Unless you like dry old patties. If this is the best burger in San Diego, then San Diego has a big problem.

This, is, amazing. Came here because I just wanted a burger and got so much more. I couldn’t start with what I liked most, but if I really had to get into it the Oreo freak shake was so good and just an experience. Everything is made to order so it takes a minute! So be patient because it’s so worth it! The staff were so so friendly and worked so hard I’m just glad that we were able to have such amazing food and a great experience. I would definitely recommend the freak shakes if you’re dining in!

Been ordering from here since they opened but todays experience was disappointing. Uber eats diablo fries with extra sauce, which is normally phenomenal but I did not receive the sauce that they charge for plus the fries came so undercooked I had to put them in the air fryer. I was told they were soggy because they were sitting but the other order of fries I placed was totally fine and full of sauce. Called the store to see if I could come and exchange my order but was told to send photos to a number instead and to try calling back because they were too busy and that they would not be able to do the exchange. Not sure who is running the business but seems like there are no longer ethics involved

It's impressive how Funky Fries can get with so many choices to make fries a meal. If there is a combination that exists, it is likely here. I only ordered the jalapeno poppers and small cajun fries. Although stingy on the small fries, the seasoning was on point. I would recommend whatever fries deal you purchase ask for the cajun seasoning. As far as the jalapeno poppers, these were plump and filling. Perhaps wrap some bacon to amplify the flavor. This was my first time at any Funky Fries joint. I entered and was not greeted by the woman at the counter. When I asked a question, she appeared to be inconvenienced. On the upside, each customer that entered after me received prompt service and questions answered with a cheerful smile. I wanted to try a delectable shake but I wouldn't finish it because it's so large. In general, it's a cool establishment with draft beer, televisions, outdoor seating and indoor dining, and unique fries combinations with ample topping choices.

Posting five stars for the milkshake alone. The food did not feel stale even coming in fifteen to twenty minutes before closing. Everything was freshly tasteful and the service from all the staff including cooks and cashiers was attentive and welcoming :)

I would give this place a 4.5 rating, if I could. My bbq bacon burger was excellent, a 5 rating. Sweet bbq sauce, good burger, good onion ring, tasty bacon, and crispy lettuce. The fries compare to In-N-Out, not my favorite, but they did season with salt and pepper, something different, still only a 3 rating. I did like them having a “Stubborn Soda” machine, good interesting flavors. Very nice service provided and the place was clean. Highly recommended.

All around great place. Right off as we walked in a worker greeted us to assist with picking what we wanted from menu. Shee explained itemsoff the menu. Answered every question we had. Gave us recommendations. Plus showed us the popular items. Food was awesome.

They have a variety of crazy combinations that are delicious together! The pastrami fries with waffle fries were amazing! The pulled pork fries were tasty too. The serving sizes are hearty (enough for two to share) and the prices are average for what you get.

Delicious HUGE burgers and huge shakes! Very good prices too! The staff is very nice and always checking up on you to make sure you have everything you need if you dine in. This is my 1st time here and they treated me like a restaurant customer, not a regular fast food joint!

The place was marketed to us as best burger in San Diego. The food did not disappoint. The portions are big and the cost in not too bad. They have unique burgers and side options with lots of different varieties of soda available. We went there late at night and it was delicious!

I'm shook, but in a good way. Parking is limited, so put that into consideration. There's a drive thru, so that's a plus. When you order, its from a touchscreen kiosk. We ordered the pastrami fries, the mac and cheese pulled pork fries, and the kids strip meal. The food came out in 11 minutes, very fast and courteous service. Food reactions: ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! The combination of flavors was insane. Food was priced well and they definitely earned another return. I can't wait to try another item. Everything on the menu looks so good lol.

Right from the beginning, this was a bit of an iffy visit. We arrived and were not greeted by anyone at the register so we figured the only option was to use the kiosks on the side to order which was fine. We used them to place our order but had to walk up to the register to pay as the card reader wasn't working. Had to beg for drink cups and the cashier had to triple check the receipt to make sure we ordered drinks. Then, there was no ice in the machine which they knew but didn't bother telling their customers nor did they offer the option of a cold, bottled beverage in lieu of warm fountain drinks. Getting the food was chaotic. They brought it out in several small installments believing they were done with our order each time. We ordered the cream corn bites which were delicious and came out first. A kids Mac n cheese with tots and a chocolate shake which came out last and we had to ask where it was twice because everyone but my youngest already had their food and was eating, but it was good Mac n cheese and the tots were good. Kids burger and fries with a chocolate shake had a very dry and overcooked patty and over seasoned French fries. Mac n cheese burger was my favorite bite of the night even though, again, the patty was over cooked and dry(I even ordered mine medium but it definitely came out well done!) The fried Mac n cheese was really good! Pizza burger toppings were also delicious even with its equally dry burger patty. The onion rings were only OK. We also ordered the gigantic chocolate overload milkshake which turned out to be 50% whipped cream and very runny/ thin milkshake. Overall, I think this place has great concepts but needs to work on their execution.

The worst Fries I've ever had they were wet and soggy in the box and even before opening you can smell a big hint of garlic. When calling back they told me they don't have a Manger to help me had to laugh. Then they would not refund my order they guy called wow his manger I was on hold for 30 mins. To find out will take 7days for my refund on my card. I would never eat nothing at this place. I just took the loss but would say to people it's the grossest fries I ever had.

Best Burger Joint in Town. Ate there Saturday with my daughter and grandson. My grandson loves this place more than me. Great customer service. Very clean store. The smash burger with Diablo sauce was the best burger I have ever eaten.

The food is great, the service is good too except for this one time i used the drive through and the guys greeted me but then forgot about us for 15 minutes. I would have just left but there was a car in front and behind us so we couldn't leave. Eventually the car behind us left but by that time the guy came back and took our order. Turns out it was a new guy, can't really get mad at the new guy but still, they should have done a better job on their service.

Food is amazing, great staff. Any business with no prices listed visibly on their menu is an instant two stars. This is a common trend for business. To get people to commit to an item's price that's gone up rapidly. Then when you hear the price, if you say nevermind, you basically embarrass yourself and so, most people will commit to an overpriced meal at least once.
