Please note that this review is by a US tourist and not a local guide. Fun place to spend a few hours. The butterflies were beautiful. The guy running the place gave nice explainations about the butterflies. It is small, but worth the nominal charge (unlike some tourist traps here - beware of the snake place and the new visitor's center who are out to fleece you!) It is worth stopping by the Butterfly Haven if you have a few minutes of down time. Lost one star just because it is small and there were limited varieties of butterflies. There is also no gift shop or other tourist trappings, which actually is quite refreshing

Very nice guided tour! It stars in the room with microscope explaining the biology and development of butterflies, following by walking tour inside the Butterfly Haven house where you see in real life them eating, laying eggs and developing! You will need a good camera here to capture those beautiful butterflies.

It's called Butterfly Haven, as it is a safe haven for these animals, but it wouldn't be wrong to call it Butterfly hEaven, as it is heaven for butterfly lovers and anyone curious to see the beautiful animals up close. The entrance fee is 5 to 7 dollars per adults, depending on your residency, and includes a tour of 10-15 minutes with one of the guides. You can skip it, if you so wish, but you'd be missing out, as it is very informative about the different species of butterfly and they point out small things you wouldn't be able to see on your own, like butterfly eggs laid on leaves. There are over one thousand butterflies in two separate spaces, so that they can separate the ones that wouldn't "go along" with the others and safeguard also old and weaker butterflies. All can feast on sugar water and sliced mature tropical fruits, which are vey rich in sugar and which the butterflies love especially when they are starting to go and ferment. It is also a rather unique possibility of taking pictures of butterflies from so up close, be it with a camera or even with your smartphone. Highly recommended.

The Butterfly Haven is a beautiful place to visit. The butterflies were so pretty and so much fun to photograph. The dome is pretty and intimate. The staff were knowledgeable and spoke English so we really got to learn a lot. A must to visit if you're in the area!

Great quick stop to experience something different, many species of butterflies and a quick lesson on their life cycle. You get to see also how they raise them in this environment. Entry price around $5 per person (not to high, but it supports their work)

Came in May 2023 with my sis. We had a lovely time. The young lady helping us, stayed with us for a good 15 minutes, explaining the different stages of the butterflies, the type of butterflies available here and the difference between each of them. Very informative, and friendly staff. The owner showed me some plants and even send me off with a piece of a species I did not know I needed. 🥰

I really LOVE this place. The staff are friendly, funny and professional. We learned a lot about butterflies. We had fun. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL!!! Take pictures. Lots of pictures. Our guide told us to take our butterfly videos in slow motion. That is a great tip.

Beautiful species of butterflies. You can't escape if they land on you, so if one does, you might was well give it a lift to the closest flowers and wait until it leaves your side

If you like 🦋 Butterflies Haven is the place for you. I loved the visit so much. You can enter the casa butterfly and all the butterflies flying freely around and you can spot and discover the different typs. Was so fun - just do it and thank me laters.

We also went to Butterfly Haven 🦋 This little place are actually heaven for this beautiful species. That was a wonderful experience to have them so close to us and we get to see their beautiful shapes and colors. We learn a lot about this local species, how they survive from predators and their metamorphosis. The keepers are very knowledgeable even though some of them have no college education at all. The place is run by these biologists, lovers of butterflies and insects. I loved the fact that they transmitted their knowledge to their helpers. That was very impressive. 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Nice place with hundreds of butterflies all around you. The guide tells you a little about the different species of butterfly and also lets you touch the caterpillars at the end. A bit pricey ($7 for foreigners) for entrance when the whole thing takes about 30 min to get through.

What a great way to spend a few hours, for adults or kids of just about any age (even our 15m old liked it)! Lots of butterflies, and knowledgeable, multilingual, staff are extremely helpful. We have been to similar enclosures in the US, but this was better, being just netted in but otherwise outdoors. Not sure that I would drive a great distance just for this, but if you're in the area I would highly recommend this be on your list. Open every day except Tuesday, $5 for adults, $1.50 for kids 11m and up.

Cool place, you will see many butterfly species (15-20), the area is quite small, but they also explain the whole life of butterfly from egg to caterpillar to butterfly. Entrance is $7. It is close to city centre, if you have a spare hour in your schedule, this place will fill in your space.

Great place to visit. The staff and your was superb. They really love their butterflies and take good care of them. Was like a family experience to go around the farm and learn from the owner. I highly recommend this visit.

I’ve never been around so many butterflies. The staff was friendly and explained a little bit about each butterfly and their process. It is small and in our opinion a bit expensive for what you get. But I would recommend it

  • 5/5 Anibal L. 2 years ago on Google
A good place, they teach you about the different species of butterflies and their metamorphosis process. It is quite inductive.

  • 2/5 Jogchem de G. 2 years ago on Google
Misleading sign at the entrance. 5 USD entrance only for "residents". Foreigner entrance is 7 USD. Too much, butterfly gardens like these can be enjoyed all over Central America for less.

  • 5/5 Hymer L. 1 year ago on Google
7 dollars each for foreigners, 3 for under 12. So amazing butterflies, I would say about 12 or more different species, but the quality of the butterflies is huge, so it's so charming for taking videos. Employees are so friendly and kind. They held an umbrella for us to walk to our car when we are leaving and it was raining. Very appreciated.

One of the most interesting and great places to visit in Anton valley, such a butterfly haven, you will have a short video explaining your experience and everything you need to know about the amazing world of butterflies, very generous nice people and very professional and experts in what they do. This place is a must see if you are ever in this area.

  • 5/5 Nick O. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful place. A special shout-out to the staff, not only we’ve been given a tour through the place but we’ve been allowed to touch the caterpillars! To top it off they had the education movie in the Czech language as we learned the owner of the place is Czech as well

  • 5/5 Martijn van M. 1 year ago on Google
They take you into a say 60 square meter space where they have hundreds of butterflies, about 10 different types. The butterflies get to sit on you, on your hands, clothes. Afterwards there is a short explanation on how they breed the butterflies and how much the caterpillars really eat. Enjoyable. Costs 7 dollars for us outsiders. You're outside in about an hour. There is also a short educational video on how the butterflies get their color from the structure of their wings. They're not pigmented.

It was pouring down rain for our visit BUT all of the staff were very friendly and hospitable. The one girl who showed us around told us that her English wasn't the strongest, however, she explained things very well about the caterpillars/ butterflies presented. There was a nice variety of butterflies that were seen, some even landed on my friends. It's a small space and due to the rain, our feet did get a little wet but if you wear the proper shoes it won't be an issue.

(Translated by Google) A small butterfly garden very useful to get to know Panama's butterflies up close. Then you see them in nature and thus it is easier to identify them (because you see them everywhere). I really liked the explanation, they give the common names of each butterfly, although I think they should also indicate the scientific names and then be able to search better if you want to expand information.
