Out dated. Nothing is clean or organized. The gym layout isn’t efficient, have to walk far to get weights and take them back to your square. They are missing weights and not enough variety. nothing is packed away after use. The bathrooms are outdated and not clean, the toilets were out of order, a lot of the machines are out of order too. Personal trainers not complying to covid regulations. Cannot understand why this is a highly rated gym compared to other virgin actives across the country.

Sales person whole sold me the gym membership package lied about the package and when I went to cancel it I was told it would take 20 business days and the idiots that manage the place took so long to do the cancelation that I was still being charged 2 months after I had my membership closed. What a scam, worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life.

The sales associate at this branch mislead me about the membership package I signed up for as well as being able to cancel for free. Virgin Active increased my monthly debit order with no fore-warning either. Be very careful when considering joining. It's a pity as the gym itself is a good and safe place to exercise but this experience has thoroughly ruined my affinity for it.

You need to keep a careful eye on your accounts as this gym will overcharge frequently. Also, they provide zero assistance when you file a request for your money back or for any other sort of request you might have. I had an awful experience with this gym.

The sales associate at this branch mislead me about the membership package I signed up for. I was charged an additional 1600 r with a promise that I would get a refund. It has been 4 months now and they have not refunded my money. Every time I spoke with someone, I was passed to someone else to communicate my issue with and a different excuse of why it had not been processed yet. I asked to speak with a manager several times and was told they couldn't do anything because it was a admin issue. Judging from some of the other reviews this is an ongoing issue. The front desk is nice and the gym itself is great. The cleaning staff does an outstanding job to make the facility sparkle. If you are signing up make sure you make sure all the paperwork in place is 100% accurate. Honestly I hate leaving negative review but I'm hoping it helps someone be more thorough if they are considering signing up. Or I'm hoping management gets more involved with monetary discrepancies instead of brushing them off.

Probably the worst customer experience I’ve had in my entire existence. The front desk staff was rude and quite frankly unprofessional. She did not seem To know anything. I asked about a day pass to try out the gym and they quoted me 360 then when I proceeded to ask about the other options they have for membership, said she didn’t know. She called the manager on duty, Mathew and he did not know anything either. He said and I quote, “ we don’t know those things, only sales does, we just have to be here and watch over”. Safe to say, probably the worst customer service experience at this virgin active in the entire country

There are only 5 lanes in this swimming pool and most of the time (particularly during peak training times) 2 of these lanes are reserved for swimming coaching, leaving only 3 for the rest of the gym to use. How on earth is this allowed when we all pay our membership fees? Why are swimming coaches allowed to cordon off 2 of the 5 lanes so that they can make themselves some money? Do we not pay our fees? Personal trainers are not allowed to put a sign on machines to prevent the rest of the gym from using those machines, so why are swimming coaches allowed to do that? We all pay, we should all have equal access to the pool the same way we have equal access to the machines and weights. Classes are booked off but anyone can join a class, not anyone can join the swimming training, it is paid for - so it is completely unacceptable for them to block other paying members from using those lanes unless they agree to pay the coach. The coaches do not own the lanes, so why are they given ownership for that period when we pay membership fees? leave 3 swimming lanes for the rest of your members...fantastic attitude by Virgin active, really putting the customer first.

Worst service ever. Signed up my daughter in April and in October the team has no managed to open up an account for her. After registering her 3 time. We still nowhere. If virgin would not be supported by discovery there will be no reason to come here. Maybe the link to discovery made them too comfortable. Maybe if that link is cut they actually start caring more about service level.

I have a complaint against the Wembley Virgin Active- I have communicated my issue with them not logging written down visits after load shedding 4 times now, and asked the manager Craig to call me, but still no action! Im fed up with the total lack of communication and competence of this club’s admin and reception staff

There is always some problem with this gym. It's either air-conditioning or badly maintained equipment or facilities not working.

It’s Sunday morning and the gym is packed. You then have cleaning crew with buckets of water poured red out over the floor with electric cables going through the water and gym members not even considered once. When you ask why the answer is to ask manager. Manager did apparently ask them to stop and this was simply ignored. Cleaners clearly owned the gym today. Besides the potential slip and trip incidents that could have happened in a gym where every apparatus has a danger warning the more serious shocks could have been fatal. Not sure who runs this place but I would fire this cleaning company. What happened to the crowd that cleaned unobtrusively and were very polite? I love my gym and seeing it deteriorate like this is very sad.

Joined this gym about two months ago. During that time, I often experience no hot water in the showers, very low water pressure and recently a day where the air conditioning was not working. These are all a part of the core offering. Other than that, I never wait too long for the equipment, the environment is clean and the equipment is maintained in good working order.

The sales associate assured me that on package would fit my requirements only to find out all the terms changed. I was falsely sold a product. I would never have joined if they were transparent. SHADY BUSINESS ETHICS.

Your best choice for a perfect body, the staff are friendly, the cleanliness of the place is at the highest level, and the pool water is really clean. This is what I was looking for. Thank you.

The best gym in the whole of South Africa in my point of view. Believe me as a ifbbpro bodybuilder i have been in my gyms in South Africa but this gym is special, from the staff, personal trainers and members i wish it was the first gym i came to when i moved to Capetown. It would have made me feel welcomed. I recommend nothing but this gym to anyone from or coming to Capetown.

The Virgin Active gym at Wembley Square in Cape Town is a great facility for fitness enthusiasts. The gym offers a wide range of equipment, including cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights, to cater to all types of workout routines. The gym is spacious and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and clean environment for members. The staff at Virgin Active Wembley Square are friendly and helpful, making it easy for newcomers to feel at home. The trainers are knowledgeable and provide excellent guidance, ensuring that members get the most out of their workouts. The gym also offers a variety of classes, including yoga, Pilates, and spinning, providing options for those who prefer group workouts. The amenities at Virgin Active Wembley Square are impressive, including a sauna, steam room, and swimming pool. The pool is well-maintained and a great place to cool off after a workout. The changing rooms are clean and spacious, with plenty of lockers and showers available. The only downside to the gym is that it can get crowded during peak hours, which can make it difficult to access certain equipment. However, this is a common issue with most gyms, and it is usually possible to work around it. Overall, the Virgin Active gym at Wembley Square in Cape Town is a great place to workout. With its wide range of equipment, knowledgeable staff, and excellent amenities, it is easy to see why it is a popular choice for fitness enthusiasts in the area.

Wembley Square Virgen Active has excellent staff and good facilities. The staff members are helpful, knowledgeable and always friendly. I plan to contact the Wembley Square VA manager to share how much we a appreciate the extra mile one of the Club V staff members goes - she is beyond awesome.

One of the best gyms I workout at since moving to Cape Town. And I need it too, thanks to all the yummy food I've been eating non-stop across the city since my arrival. Having a place to focus on my fitness really helps especially since I'm job-hunting and the exercise helps relieve my stress and anxiety. There's enough equipment so you don't have to stand around waiting for something to become available so you can get on with your workout and finish in appropriate time. Because let's face it, the best part of gym is going home after a good workout. 😉 Also, do yourself a huge favour and download the Virgin Active app where you can claim free smoothies or hot drinks (+ all sorts of other discounts) just by scanning in and out of the club.

Gym with lots of potential - lots of floor space, nice location, friendly staff, very clean and well-looked-after, and 2hrs free and plentiful parking. Just fell short with what I found to be a lack of equipment (unless its leg day), an inoperable steam room, and an underwhelming, lukewarm sauna. Apart from those issues the gym left a decent first impression

I love this gym a lot. But I’m starting to become frustrated by the facilities not working. The water facility by the kettle bells hasn’t worked properly in over a year. The sauna and steam room hadn’t worked in almost 2.5 weeks. Very annoying

Only 4 stars coz it's pretty nice. Not 5 stars coz they don't fix/maintained equipment enough. Also consider not cleaning the treadmills at peak times. Because there been a few time I don't get treadmill coz they cleaning some and the rest of out of order

Good gym with a pro sized swimming pool. Registration and all Admin related work however is a nightmare. System is archaic. You would think to register and manage a gym membership in 2023 could be easily done via an app or website. Not Virgin Active. But besides the administrative headaches the gym is great. 👍🏿

Great gym, I'm feeling free to do anything and with anything I mean literally every kind of exercise, because they have so many variation of sports equipment. This gym will let you forget the time. .

It is very big, diverse and inclusive.. It is very clean and smells good that's why I keep going back. It may be expensive but the truth is that it offers a lot more than the gym because you can go with your family there even kids, most gyms do not allow kids

Friendly staff and state of the art equipment. Signup process is simple enough. Has a nü inside for members only. Non powered equipment and areas can get busy during Loadshedding as they do not have a generator.

Great gym, friendly and helpful staff. My only negative note will be the lack of equipment. Definitely need more plate loaded press machines. There’s only one for chest. Those are the quintessentials of every gym. Besides that, the equipment is clean and maintained regularly.

  • 1/5 Megan 1 year ago on Google
Would prefer more yoga/pilates classes in the evenings. Definitely not enough options for the cost of this membership.

One of the best maintained VAs in Cape Town with great equipment too. However, all VAs need to sort out the amount of on-shift mobile phone usage happening with staff members (especially cleaning team).

I am so tired of instructors not turning up for classes. Especially the abs classes. I even come to expect a non-arrival so i remind reception as i enter to send an instructor up for the class that's being offered, and still noone turns up!.It must have happened to me 50 times. It's UNacceptable. Not to mention mind boggling.

😠 Terrible gym. Way to many members for the size of the gym. And with all the members you would think they will have more than 4 benches. Very small weight area (you will rarely get a weight you are looking for). Very few machines. WiFi is almost non existent. Even if the gym isn't that full. Can not...
