This is a great hike, family and pet friendly, forestry and well maintained. Not really any "payoffs" but it's a good hike, about 2.5km loop with an additional 0.5km loop within the main loop that is a bit more challenging. Everything is well marked so you won't get lost.

Great place for a moderately difficult hike! I'm guessing the recent hurricane has caused a bit of damage as it doesn't seem to be overly maintained but as long as you have good footwear you'll be fine. Make sure you enter the trail on the correct side (right side of the fork), otherwise you'll be going in a direction that isn't marked and the trail isn't always obvious where you should go (found this out the hard way). Definitely don't skip the little loop, it's more difficult but worth the effort. No restrooms so keep that in mind before you go :)

Great trail! Did it in the winter so a little rough but steep hills and nice views. Dogs loved it!

I did this walk for the first time today and it was wonderful. I liked the signs posted with information, well marked trails, easy to moderate difficulty with a variety of scenes. Beautiful old growth. The β€œextra” .5km loop is worth doing. Surprisingly there were little to no flies!

Nice scenery, easy to moderate hiking trail that goes in an approximate 4 km loop. Forest hike with a few creeks that create small waterfalls. This trail takes between an hour to an hour and a half depending on your hiking capabilities. If you go too early in the spring, expect a few muddy spots at the beginning if you go clockwise on this trail. Hiked this in May 2020. It's recommended to wear bug repellent depending on the time of year you visit. In our case, the blackflies were getting thick. They used to mine manganese here and there are interpretive signs that highlight various aspects of the area from former mining, to explaining about flying squirrels.

Fantastic place for a hike. Pristine Acadian forest with many different ecotypes. Many babbling brooks and observation points. Great for wildflowers and birds. Medium to difficult trails with a good amount of uphill and downhill uneven terrain.

The trail itself was excellent! The beginning of the trail has a sign which was pretty accurate. However, we entered the trail in a counter-clockwise segment which must have been incorrect because once we had crossed the stream and began ascending, the trail markers were only on the other side of the tree. They were well marked from that angle, but not from the angle we entered the trail at, so for that reason we could not complete it in a circuit and had to turn around. We don't mind rough terrain but it is good to note that many trees are currently down across the trails which could be hazardous for less experienced hikers. However, the trail is a beautiful hidden gem in Mapleton and we loved the views! I would recommend traveling in a clockwise pattern and others will be okay. Also worth noting is that parking is only on the side of the road in the winter.

Moderately challenging (three steeper sections) but clearly marked trail, with a small 'waterfall'. Lightly trafficked. Is on the site of a former hillside mining operation.
