I’ve had a couple romantic nights with my wife at Culpepper. Incredible value for the same you’d spend for a sterile hotel room. Cleanliness rivals any five star hotel anywhere. Close to great restaurants and breweries. Short drive to the Outer Banks. Owners are on-site and genuinely care that you have an amazing experience. I’d go out of my way to stay at Culpepper again.

This is our second trip here and our go to spot to celebrate our anniversary. We love being so close and being able to walk downtown to all the restaurants, breweries and water. There is so much to do in the evenings there ! The inn is very comfortable and our favorite place. Michael and Holly are very nice and sweet. They always include small touches. This time we had the pool room and loved it! Only complaint was that we couldn’t adjust the thermostat. We will be back!

Fantastic downtown stay! Frequently visit the Culpepper Inn in downtown Elizabeth City! So close to the local shops, coffee & breweries, there’s tons to do in the area! The owners do a fabulous job of upkeep, delicious accommodations & a beautiful property with displays throughout the year for so many occasions! (Christmas & Halloween are our favorites 💜) If you get the chance, give this B&B a try—You will treasure the stay!

Beautiful inn with tastefully decorated rooms. Beautiful during any of the holidays. Food is amazing! Walking distance to downtown and the water. Owners are active in the community and had deep patriotic spirits. Love this place!

Good quiet location and nice room. Stayed in the Green Room. Beautiful location with the backyard area, the shower was big, the bed was comfy. Cleanliness was okay. Only dilemma is the food for breakfast wasn’t fresh. Moldy bagels, and expired juices. Besides that everything was good.

This venue is a wonderful quiet getaway but walking distance to multiple restaurants, shops, and breweries with live music occassionally. It is exclusive in they only have a select number of rooms and only those staying in rooms are using the venue. The grounds are well kept with flower and vegetable gardens and plenty of outdoor seating. There is a Tavern Room where continental breakfast is available in the morning and a work desk is available in the afternoon. The breakfast is your typical continental hotel breakfast except there are farm fresh local eggs available to make. The rooms are comfortable with private bath, tasteful decor fitting the room name, and either electric or gas fireplace (we have stayed numerous times in different rooms and have loved them all). Mike and Holly are more than willing and able to help you, providing dinner or activity recommendations, giving history of the town and the inn. They are also very genuine: their faith is on display throughout the property, but not in your face to where all would not feel welcome. Policies to maintain the inn's quiet atmosphere are posted in nunerous places. I had seen reviews getting upset about some of those policies, but they are all communicated in advance either on the websites, with self-check in sent to your email, or on the signs. We love our stay everytime and cannot wait to stay again!

The good is the room and that’s about it and even that we had issues with the water not going down after a shower so I had to stand in the water from my husbands shower. As I write this review I will preface it by saying I have been a super host for Airbnb since 2014 and over 400 guests and my reviews have been spectacular because I treat everyone with respect. I have traveled extensively my entire life and have never been treated or spoken to like the woman who owns the Inn. Her name is Holly and the one thing I know about her for sure is she is very RUDE.. She told us if we wanted an early arrival it would be 1/2 the cost of the room. We decided to find things to and arrived at 2:37 with no intentions of checking in until 3. Well out she comes on her porch and says…” ARE YOU RITA?” I responded YES. She rudely yelled, “ YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE TILL 3!” I told her we had no intentions of entering the room early and we just found the place and parked on the gravel where we were instructed to park and we just needed to sort some things out in the car. BTW everybody we were THE ONLY OTHER CAR THERE BESIDES HERS! She yelled “ JUST GO IN NOW THAT YOUR HERE YOUR ROOM IS READY!” No way in hell was I going in that room till 3 PM. I will say the room was lovely but THAT IS IT!! If this was her true self that she showed us then she most definitely needs to be in a job where she doesn’t interact with people!! My husband is really laid back and he’s not bothered by much but he couldn’t get out of there fast enough.. nor could I. Think before you go is my advice.

The Culpepper Inn is super cute and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Poolside Room. Upon arrival, the self check-in was so easy and we were greeted by a personalized welcome package just inside the community Tavern Room. The Poolside Room is beautifully decorated and the attention to cleanliness and detail was evident. Shortly after we got settled, we had the opportunity to meet Mike, who was so friendly (and Bruno!). At our hosts’ recommendation, we enjoyed a quick, scenic walk to the waterfront for dinner. After settling back in at the Inn, my husband and I had a great time enjoying the hospitality and fellowship with both Mike and Holly by their beautiful pool. Check-out was just as easy after enjoying the breakfast goodies provided for us in the Tavern Room. Having made some new friends, I have no doubt that we’ll be back to visit The Culpepper in the future. Thank you so much!
