Absolutely gorgeous! I always love coming here. Especially when I get to see these gorgeous elks. Such majestic creatures.

Beautiful long (I think about 8 miles) trail for walking, jogging, biking 🚴🏼‍♂️ or rollerblading. Tree paths, grassy path, bridges, water. A few are near to the city and homes— so not very removed from city in some parts- other parts are immersive. Very lush. Several bathroom stops (average cleanliness - smelly). Several picnic benches, great for large groups. The Elk reserve is a cool little stop, you really need to look to find them at times. We saw 4 on our recent hike. Track your journey and pay attention to markers to avoid getting lost. Close to the mall, theatre and restaurants for dinner or other activities too.

There is elk in this park and we saw one! The trails were nicely paved and the park itself was beautiful. We didn’t quite get to see it all but we were rewarded with an elk sighting. Do not feed the elk😂 The bathrooms here were not super clean so make sure you don’t need to go to the bathroom during your time here.

Best time to see Elks are either early morning or in the evening. I went there in the afternoon and couldn’t see any of them, then I went again in the evening and could see 4 of them. I wish they have many.

First time visiting this park with my fiance and our dogs and we loved it. From the amazing scenery to the nice walking paths and we were lucky enough to have the elk come up so close as they did. We will definitely be coming back more often

I drove past and did a double take because I thought I was losing my mind seeing elk in Chicago! What a cool herd establishment!

Excellent bike trail. A lot less wild than I like but I wanted a place I've never been before with a 7+ mile loop. Whole loop is paved so you can see lots of children on bikes... made my heart happy.

If you get lucky you might see an elk or two. It’s a nice area for biking and running but if you have a little one you will need to be careful with them as there are a lot of cyclists.

And the ticks are alive! Took my dog for a walk over by the Elks. I had to go a little bit into the woods a couple of times to sit (I have copd) and take a small break as there are no benches next to the fence by the elks. Didn't even think about bug spray. Hence, I found 2 ticks on myself! It is tick season (warm/hot) so go prepared!

This is a nice park to get out and exercise as well as go observe elk inside an enclosure. I’m unsure of the complete length of the walking/bike path but it definitely is in excess of five miles. Much of the path is shaded due to the trees which helps during hotter days and there are few bridges that you can cross as well as a longer bridge that is actually a pedestrian overpass. It’s worth an afternoon outing.

7.5 ish mile loop on the red trail. Paved trails good for walking, running, and biking. Careful, it has a tendency to be crowded on the weekends!

A good sized group of elk brought in from Yellowstone in 1925. The bring in a few cows occasionally to help the biodiversity. They where bedding down and had to see, because it was raining. I'll have to go again before I leave Chicago
