Eduardo was so attentive and all the servers always asks if we needed a refill for coffee. ‘Twas our first time and we’ll be back for sure, first impressions lasts. My steaks was done perfectly, flavorful dishes, and of course one of the most important for me is the portioning which made me happy. My 6 year old enjoyed all of her food, happy while eating. They give fun activities for kids which is very helpful. A little delay from the kitchen which is understandable at that time, and hey! The food was great! who cares about the delay after all.

Wonderful place. I was not feeling well and as a result, not that friendly. The waitress tried to read me and did her best! She was patient and helped me through my order from finding the menu (It was right in front of me), to keeping our drinks filled up to going the extra mile for these 2 picky kids, to taking time out to make sure we were good, and we had our boxes, and so on. She really locked it down!! Food: So much food, per plate! On point on point on point! Hot, fresh, and delicious!!

The wife and I wanted brunch, but it was a Friday, so we ended up going to Black Bear Diner. There weren't that many people we got a table right away there. There was no wait. Our food came out fast. Everything was good. Except the bear claw was hard like an idk a rock🪨. The service was excellent, though 👌 everything else was good

Had a really good breakfast at Black Bear Restaurant recommended by a new couple at the doctor's office!! I had the Calif. Bacon Benedict which hit all my breakfast likes -- thick cut bacon, eggs, avocado & muffin with hash browns. Sooo much food had to take home half! Definitely one of my fav restaurants in Elk Grove!

When I saw the Black Bear Diner I gave out a sigh of relief, now I didn't have to think about where I was going to eat. I had helped my pal Mr. Peabody and his boy Sherman move his Wayback machine to their new house in Elk Grove where he plans on running a tour service of past events. It's always nice to find a Black Bear Diner in a new town, they always have just what you want. 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

Was greeted by a young man who was generous & very cooperative with us by getting us a table, seconds later to find out he is also our server. Bryan seemed very knowledgeable & good natured. I must say he was everywhere! It had seemed if he was the manager by his work ethic but not! He provided outstanding service and was super attentive. We will be coming back very soon for lunch & dinner.

The restaurant was clean, friendly and homey as always. For lunch I had a BLT with Sweet Potato fries and my friend had a Cheeseburger Salad and Iced Tea. Our server was attentive and it was really pleasant. It is a little pricey and a splurge on the calorie side but the food and atmosphere was nice- exactly what you'd expect. Love that this Black Bear is consistent. I never have room for dessert but their bear claws look amazing! 😊

Great coffee shop type restaurant . Good size portions. I had a patty melt. Good flavor. Rye bread with swiss cheese. Restaurants don't always the rye bread. Service was excellent. Kept coming back filling water attending to requests. Grandaughter had a birthday and waiter brought her a dish of 3 scoops of ice cream! My husband had the turkey super bird and it included ham and it was bigger than Denny's. So he was happy. My son's bacon burger was gone quickly so I guess that was a yes he liked it. All around thumbs up!

Had a great time! The food was good and the service was good too. It is a little expensive, though. We had 4 people, and the bill was over $50!

Great atmosphere but poor quality food. The place seemed good and for some reason the ratings are quite good but the consensus from the 5 of us was that it wasn't worth it. As you can see from the pictures, $127 for 5 very simple meals (and 2 sodas) is simply too much, especially for the quality. Unfortunately I cannot recommend.

WOW!!! The food is amazing, the atmosphere is great, and the service is great but could be a little quicker, but the server was really friendly. We ordered fish and chips and a taco salad. The fish was awesome and big pieces, more fish than batter and flavorful. The hush puppies were the best I ever had. When the food came out, we were like, "WOW!! That's a lot of food. " It's nice when a restaurant chain follows its promise, about quality... very rare. The taco salad was nice, the deep fried taco shell was really good, crispy and not oil which was a good surprise. I'd definitely recommend family and friends to go here. I just wish they had more chicken or turkey options available for breakfast.

Friendly staff, clean environment, atmosphere uneventful…. The coffee is a Guatemala blend. However, it is horrible, very burnt, dark and bitter. I use six creamers and still didn’t get relief from the burnt taste….. The food was Bland lukewarm, I ordered eggs, Benedict hollandaise sauce was bland. It tasted like yellow gravy, no lemon, nor zest Fresh, seasonal fruit was disappointing as well There was no salt or seasoning on the food, flavorless . which was surprising considering this was one of their premium meals options when I asked the staff if they have any other coffee, they said no this is the most popular coffee they have…. I only ate three bites, and was very unsatisfied

The food is delicious. They served big portions which I love. Their coffee is the best. I love the coffee there is strong. Their customer service awesome Nicole was our waitress and she is super nice. I’m very attentive. Definitely recommend this black bear diner.

It's always clean and the vibe is always welcoming. Our server once again is Nicole she's an awesome waitress. We ordered the two Vegetable Omelette with a side of medium hot sausage patty and as always the food was served always heat hot and tasty. Our hats off to the chef. We will return again.

Black Bear Diner is a breakfast staple in Elk Grove. While I prefer to go places that are locally owned, the food, service and pricing are all decent here. The kids meals are under $5– huge portions and my kids love them! My husband loves their Chicken Fried Steak— that portion is the biggest I’ve ever seen! And the Benedict Special I tried was pretty good. The service is very quick, the restaurant is clean, and there is ample parking.

I highly praise this place’s food, customer service and aspect. I dined in here for a celebration and was pleased with everything, before eating here for the first time I believed it to be a run of the mill American diner, such as Dennys, but no it offers so much better. I ordered a dinner plate with steak and fried chicken, served with chips and and garlic cheese toast.

Food is amazing so deliciousand flavorful! Love the atmosphere, the menu choice, portions and service. The deserts are so good. My favorite is the chocolate cake

This was an amazing experience! The food was very rich and delicious, with an outstanding price. You won’t need to worry about not getting enough food. The service there is amazing. The workers are highly trained, and will give you the service you need. The workers are kind and very respectful. Your food comes out within 5 to 10 minutes. If you ask for a fork or coffee you get it right away. The atmosphere is very nice and the restaurant gives out a nice cabin/lodge feel in the theme of lakes and bears. There is a lot wood sculptures in the theme of bears and overall the inside is very fun. Overall, I would give this restaurant 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. You should really come to Black Bears Diner!

I think that the people are really nice and the food is exactly,but when I ordered from the kids menu they just assumed that I wanted scramble eggs. When everyone else ordered they asked them if the wanted scramble or over easy. The point is that since I'm a kid they assumed that I wanted scramble and not over easy so adults get more choices.

I must say Black Bear Diner was really good at one point, but lately it's like they are trying anymore. Today my family and I went there for breakfast the wait was fine. But our food on the other hand wasn't as expected. My son ordered a cheese burger fries were Luke warm the cheese wasn't even melted, it honestly looked like it was placed on it last minute. My mom's, sisters, and grandmother's food and the country potatoes and most of them were under cooked and they had ask for sourdough toast, but got white bread instead. My hashbrowns weren't even done all the way either. Our server said that the manager was the one cooking today. I think he needs to either stick to managing the store or practice on his cooking skills. Don't get me wrong they have there good days, but this wasn't one of them.

I have a "love hate relationship"! After numerous tries, I have never had a edible piece of beef from this restaurant! Always too tough! They do an acceptable job on breakfast! Although last time we are there, I got a snotty waitress! They do a good, actually great, job on Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner! The restaurant is less than two miles from our home!

Grandson requested! Great food, clean restaurant. A little pricey for breakfast, but delicious. Would have given a 5 but Hostess was HIGHLY perfumed. Why? Can we smell our food, please and not be overwhelmed by your unnecessary amount of stinky chemicals?

Visited Black Bear Diner again and the ham breakfast with country potatoes, scrambled eggs and English muffin was tasty as usual. The thick ham and the rest of the order was plentiful and took the rest home for dinner. Service was very attentive and ensured our orders were as requested in a timely manner. Will return again.

Always love coming here. The staff was great, quick and friendly. Restaurant was clean and the booth was comfy. I had a salad and sandwich, others had salad customized with steak even though it typically isn't served during breakfast, and breakfast customizations off menu. No issues with pay or service.
