Like the idea of a museum within a museum really cool. Went to Brooklands Museum today was a great day out. Went around to were the buses were and it was a museum within itself. Really fascinating all the history and information available and the different era in buses on display and well preserved. Loved the black and white old info films.

Excellent museum within the grounds of Brooklands detailing public transport in London from the beginning through to the TfL of today. Plenty of exhibits and interactive pieces for smaller people. Very well run by the team of knowledgeable volunteers.

Went here as part of the Brooklands Museum. You pay to enter the Brooklands museum and the London Bus Museum is inside a part of the museum space. Lots of old London buses and interactive elements. Opportunities to go on some buses too. Well worth visit.

Finally took my Dad to Brooklands and he loved it. Its a massively important site for racing and aviation and the £18 entry fee is dearly needed to help maintain all the immaculate cars, buses, motorbikes and planes. The volunteers there have alot of engineering experience and are so happy to tell you stories about the place that you wouldn't know otherwise. Please go and donate if you can afford to.

We had a nice family time there and the volunteers are friendly and extremely prepared. To get there you need to set your satnav to Lidl otherwise you will end somewhere else.

Title says it. This is a much better display of London buses than the TFL Museum. Large, modern building holding 30 or so London buses from all eras. Large displays of posters, ephemera, equipment also. Well recommended.

Took my son and grandkids, of which I was highly surprised that they ALL very much enjoyed themselves on a fabulous day out. Even for a relatively small area, there was so much to see from: bicycles to F1 motorcars and more, aircraft from the very early 1900's throught WW1 and 2 to Concord. There's an array of busses throughout the generations plus an early London taxi and ambulance from the 50s/60s. This is also a 'lving working' museum where restoration and maintenance work is carried out, which is also featured on the TVs Yesterdays Channel, 'SECRETS OF THE TRANSPORT MUSEUM'. The areas, mostly indoors, were highly clean and very well kept, all in keeping to the Brooklands era. Each area had 'mature' members of staff who assisted and gave narrative in good detail - just like your favourite grandparent 😉 There are also some exhibits that you can sit in and interact with. Plenty of toilets/wash areas and good axis areas for the disabled. The main cafe served hot/cold food and snacks with plenty of hot/cold drinks to choose from - all quite reasonable plus the obligatory gift shop. All-in-all my, Welsh, family had a very full day out! HISTORY Apart from the Brooklands Motor Museum, Brooklands STILL has part of the original first purpose-built motor racing track ever built with its famous 'banking' corner. Brooklands was the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation. Many aviation firsts are associated with Brooklands, which soon became one of Britain's first aerodromes. Many thanks to a wonderful day 😊

This is a lovely collection of London's Buses. It is completely separate from, but complementary to, the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden. The London Bus Museum is located within the larger Brooklands Museum which means that it does not need to run its own restaurant/cafe or toilets as visitors can use the general museum facilities. This allows the London Bus Museum to turn over more of the space to displaying and restoring its large collection of large vehicles. It also means that admission is included in the overall admission fee. As someone who grew up on a 'proper' Routemaster and has an interest in seeing old vehicles (such as the breakdown tender built on an old AEC Regent 1 chassis) being recycled as well as preserved I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The volunteers on duty on the day I visited were all both friendly and knowledgeable.

On the museum's Facebook page it advertised vintage bus trips every Friday throughout September. On that basis I booked. But upon arrival, no bus trips, which is a big disappointment. I've been to Brooklands many times before and seen all the exhibits, it was the bus trips I was interested in. In all a 100 mile round trip, £17 and a rare day off wasted.

Absolutely loved my visit to the London Bus Museum. For those confused it is inside Brooklands Museum. We've been a few times before, but there has been a recent shift about which has created more space. Unfortunately some of the buses are a little crammed in and not easy to take photos of, but nonetheless it has so much to look at and learn about buses, even an interactive area for kids!

The London bus museum is a museum in a museum lovely place showing the evolution of London buses from horse drawn to the famous route masters and even up to electric buses it is an extremely interesting place to visit . Filled with lots of information and interesting stories about former employees and the London bus company . Plus you can go for a ride out of the museum on a historic route master for a small cost . Lovely place and some interactive things inside for you to pretend to be a bus driver . Well worth a visit some great staff very helpful and knowledgeable.

Bus Museum: Fun for All I recently visited the bus museum, and it was a wonderful day out for the whole family, from grandparents to grandchildren. The museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of buses, and it's a great way to learn about transportation through the years. The exhibits were well-maintained and showcased a wide variety of buses from different eras, including vintage models, double-deckers, and even some iconic buses from London. The kids and the grandparents all found something of interest, whether it was the interactive displays, the informative plaques, or simply reminiscing about the buses they used to ride. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, happy to answer questions and share their passion for buses. There was also a lovely gift shop with bus-themed souvenirs for all ages. Overall, the bus museum provided a memorable and educational experience for our multi-generational group. We left with a deeper appreciation for the history of transportation and some great family memories. It's a must-visit attraction for anyone looking for an enjoyable day out with the family.

Interesting place. Great if you like buses and history. I personally preferred the planes at Brooklands, which this is part of. There are interactive displays here that kids enjoy.

A small little bit of the bigger Brooklands museum site, but is really quite nice. Staff are super friendly and hugely knowledgeable. If you get an annual membership for the bus museum it includes access to Brooklands too, but is an awful lot cheaper.

Didn't think I could get as excited about buses as I did on this visit. Lovely presentation, lots of interesting things to see, and some beautifully restored vehicles on display too. A lot of effort was put into this hanger and it shows!

I had the best time! What an experience. I went with my son's school on a trip and I'm intending on going back ASAP with the rest of the family. The staff were magnificent, interactive with the children and made us feel so welcome with a wealth of knowledge about each thing. There are plenty of interactive activities. If you're a home ed family this is a wonderful place to visit too. Lots of parking and easy to find

What a fantastic space. A trip down memory lane indeed. As a prolific bus user all my life I found the Museum thoroughly interesting. The kids had a great time on the simulator and hoping on and off of the buses.

A cracking day out at Brooklands. Free car park , if arriving before they open you can watch the Mercedes cars on the skidpan experience next door. Worth looking online to see which experiences are organised for the year. London Bus Museum is part of the facility.

Brilliant museum, so interesting. Concorde experience is a must. Great for all ages. The cafe is a little pricey, we had the sunday roast £13. All lovely however the beef was a little tough and the knives a little blunt. Shame.

A very interesting and well presented place to visit. You don't have to be a "Bus Spotter" to enjoy this place, it brings back memories from your childhood or holidays which puts a smile on your face. It also gives you the opportunity to explore the social and transport history of London and its surrounding areas.

  • 5/5 Andrew W. 2 years ago on Google
A wonderful collection of old buses to take you back to your childhood, and beyond. Free entry with the option to make a fixed £2 donation to the Bus Museum on exit. A 30 minute bus ride on the bus of the day is available for a small fee.

This was a nice surprise because the last time I went to Brooklands this museum wasn't there. For me it was the highlight of my visit. Fantastic examples of periods buses laid out well in a very up to date museum. Brilliant!

Excellent nostalgic museum. Good value and variety of buses.

  • 5/5 Jason G. 3 years ago on Google
This place is beyond cute, retro and emotional. It is like taking an active step back into a real history. I think that some of the people who work or volunteer here literally used to work in the times when these buses used to operate. It is like an emotional lets pretend play through a moment in history.

Bizzarely interesting. Found myself being drawn into conversation about bus restoration and spent quite a bit of time looking around all the advancements in the transport network. Definitely worth a visit, regardless of what you might think🤔.

  • 4/5 Manny A. 3 years ago on Google
Last visited this museum in October 2019. It's a reasonably sized museum with plenty of exhibits and events around, but I find it a tad on the steep side, but £10 for entry plus any other fares to be paid on excursions makes me more grateful to funding the museum.

Good time to go atm, not busy and plenty of space to wander around. staff and facilities are good. Recommended the bus ride, kids love it and it's nice to see scenic weybridge. Only downside is that none of the buses are excessible due to the virus.

  • 5/5 Brian R. 2 years ago on Google
You don't have to be a bus fanatic to enjoy this place everything from the earliest bus to the latest. You can get on most of them as well so it's interactive. A bus trip of 30m runs on one of the old buses, only 2.00 extra and well worth it. Note it's part of Brooklands Museum so I am not sure why it's listed separately. See my review on Brooklands Museum.
