1st time here for breakfast! I ordered the omelet, and it had turkey, cheese, and sweet peppers. It came with potatoes. My husband got the biscuits and gravy he loved the flavor.

Yummy desserts. Ordered the last chocolate chip cookie and glad we did the sweet and salty combo was delicious. Kids loved the donuts!! Looking forward to trying some cupcakes next time. Those are delicious flavor combinations. Highly recommend this beautiful bakery. Service was excellent 👍

My experience at Courageous Baker my has always been a pleasant one. Located in a quaint downtown area it stands out with colorful logo and large plate glass front. Inside the whole restaurant is neatly arranged. While relatively compact, management does quite a bit to balance a seating arrangement that makes for a comfortable breakfast. This venue does tend to get crowded, and while it does get loud, you do not lack for space to move around whether than it for a family breakfast or a Sunday brunch date. Decor is tasteful and cute, bright color scheme matching well with the brunch theme. Clean white shelves, polished hardwood floors and tables, and a variety of artwork on the walls. It is a light and playful environment that allows for a relaxed meal. It's fun that despite having a robust cupcake business I more often associate CB with my favorite breakfast food, biscuits and gravy! They clearly have placed effort behind their menu and work hard to make each option delicious and visually appealing. If you are unhappy with a dish management bends over backwards to remedy the complaint. While you do not have a server, rather you place an order at the counter and it is brought to your table, their staff is readily available. In that regard I have to say their really did excel. Andrea was wonderful! Fun, and lighthearted, she displayed a real professionalism and dedication to the business. It was just the cherry on top of an already good experience, but really made the difference in how memorable it was. If I could cite any fault, my one point might be due to pricing. Portions are plentiful, and with such a diverse menu worth it, but just we ready to pay a little more for an exceptional meal. There is an effort to create, more so than to simply make food. Dishes that are a blend of American and Mexican, like Choripapas, roasted herb potatoes with cherry tomatoes and onion, served with eggs and salsa. Even writing about the food makes me hungry!

-Ham and cheese croissant: 4 stars; loved the added touch of everything bagel seasoning. -Breakfast burrito: 5 stars for the fresh ingredients, perfectly made eggs and accompanying hot sauces. Charming, unassuming little spot in elmhurst with friendly, helpful service, around 15 or so tables, a constantly full pastry case and really fresh breakfast. They even gave us complimentary donut holes while we waiting for our breakfast. Will definitely revisit!

Fast and fresh! I thought at first that the yogurt quantity seemed small for the price point. I was very wrong- I should've saved some for later! 😂 Healthy options as well as delicious pastries. Gluten free options as well. Incredibly friendly staff.

Can imagine myself coming here on a weekend for a coffee and pastry, and relaxing with a magazine by the window. My cappuccino was on point and the cake donut was delicious. Beautiful hint of lemon and wonderful fluffiness to the dough that's crumbly but not dry.

We came for our Sunday coffee and I found their seasonal drink, I brought my own cup so they could prepare it for me. Breakfast was a success. Their elf accompanied me this Sunday.

I’m not even talking about the cupcakes - I’m sure they're good but they’re just the cherry on top. You gotta try their breakfast items! The flavor, the quality ingredients, the freshness and consistency of the food every single time is just unreal! I truly love coming here for a late wknd breakfast. I usually get their Chilaquiles Verde and a side of short stack pancakes! I’m telling you that this place is the truth when it comes to exceptional customer service, and food taste! Do yourself a favor & skip your traditional breakfast and brunch spots. This is the one.

OMG - my husband and I both had the Breakfast Burrito today. I initially posted to my FB account that it was the best Breakfast Burrito ever. Edited to say it was the best tasting breakfast we have ever had. Truly - hands down. And we eat out breakfast a lot!! Cannot WAIT to go back and try other menu items. Such cute ambiance and an inspiring story as well. 5 stars are not enough!!

My friend and I stopped in not knowing much about Courageous Bakery and Cafe, and were immediately greeted by a friendly, upbeat and colorful setting (love the floral oilcloth coverings on the chairs and vases filled with sprinkles!). We both ordered omelets and were served delicious donut holes while we waited for our orders. My California omelet was chock full of bacon, roasted tomatoes and topped with perfectly ripe avocado. It was accompanied by seasoned potatoes--so yum. My friends omelet was equally as tasty and came with the best toast--full of grains and good flavor. I ordered two donuts to take home to the family-the best we've had in a long time. I look forward to visiting the cafe again when in town. The coffee is wonderful too btw.

Such a cute little breakfast place (they serve lunch too)! I've gone a few times and the service is fantastic! All the people there are welcoming and the food is great! The breakfast tacos are definitely my favorite and an easy go to goe breakfast or brunch! The atmosphere is super cute too and perfect for families or guest of any age!

Every time I order from this restaurant I always have issues receiving the wrong items or missing items. The employees working there really need to pay attention. My order had my name on it, but it wasn’t my order it was something completely different. I emailed the manager and they did reply fairly quickly and stated I was going to be refunded but it’s been over 10 days and no refund has been issued to me... I would suggest Egg Harbor Cafe that’s close by they always get my order right and they have a lot more items on their menu.

Great cafe! Met up with friends that we haven't seen in a year and this was a perfect mid-point! The ambience, food, staff, and price was on point. When we went up to the cupcake showcase, we talked to one of the staff and he was very friendly and personable. I didn't even know this place competed in "Cupcake Wars" so that was a huge surprise and a bonus, so we bought 4 cupcakes to go and they were delicious! Highly recommend this place!

The experience was horrible, I asked for one thing just to end up with something else. I asked for egg whites which wasn't separated correctly and Turkey sausages just to end up receiving pork. I'm extremely dissatisfied with the whole experience

They provided cupcakes for my son's wedding which was a complete hit with all the guests...they also provided cupcakes for several birthdays for my granddaughter, and she just turned 5 last month. Needless to say, we LOVE their cupcakes!! They are not too sweet and have just the perfect amount of decadence!! It's hard to choose just one flavor to eat, so I'm a big supporter of their cupcakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Life is short...eat more cupcakes!!

I've only ever gotten coffee or cupcakes from here (highly recommend both!) But I just recently tried their breakfast... I ordered their funfetti pancakes, and they were SO good! Highly recommend!

Wow! I stumbled upon Courageous Elmhurst yesterday, and was pleased with how many delicious-sounding options they had on the menu. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich on multi-grain bread, and it was very tasty! It came with tomato, onion, and greens, and I had it with a side of home fries (and a pickle comes with the sandwich). Prices were very reasonable (about $13 for what I ordered) and there are quite a few drink options also. Friendly service, and FAST too - the cook started making my sandwich within seconds of me ordering it! I'll be back before too long!

As a cancer survivor, this place hits home to me. Food is exceptional. Great place to come with my toddler. The BLTA is phenomenal and the survivor cupcake flavor is the best. Everyone is so nice.

I have been going to different places to try cupcakes and this place was on my list. The first cupcake I tried, the strawberry one, looked delicious but I wasn't a fan of the dried strawberry on top and the filling tasted like jelly from a jar. So, I saved my banana one for the next day and failed to notice it was gluten free. To my surprise, however, the banana cupcake was actually tastier than the strawberry, which definitely surprised me, especially with it being gluten free. However, as much as the atmosphere is nice, the workers are friendly, the price for a regular size cupcake that is just okay isn't worth the trip.

Amazing brunch food!!!! Incredible! (I’m a pregnant foodie/super judgmental LOL). I used DoorDash, the food came quickly. I guess it makes sense that they make such good breakfast food since they’re a bakery (all homemade breads etc). But still very impressive, they clearly have a real deal chef. The croissant sandwich, biscuit sandwich, omelet, breakfast burrito, pancakes, and the hashbrowns - ALL DEVINE! And the maple bacon , omg!

We’ve had great experience at Courageous Bakery! The food has been great when we’ve gone there for breakfast. We also had had my sister’s bridal shower there and they were great to work with. Annie, the manager, helped us customize a menu and checked in on us leading up to the event. She and the staff were ready to help us with decorations during set up, and were extremely accommodating during the event. I highly recommend them for meal or event!

Okay I absolutely LOVE courageous bakery and cafe. The food is wonderful (biscuits, cupcakes, coffee....yuummmm) and the manager Janike, wow, she is spectacular. She is so super friendly, but not the fake friendly. She is such a sweet person. Always smiling, even under the mask. Janike is really a very wonderful special person, and she is very deserving of much recognition!! Good job courageous bakery!!

I adore this bakery! The cupcakes are delicious - great cake and great flavor combinations. Whenever I have a reason to bring desert somewhere I always pick up a dozen. The cafe menu is great too for breakfast and lunch - lots of variety, fresh ingredients, and good food.

This was my family's first time at courageous. We ordered chocolate chip packages, a Country Sammie, and a Vanilla Bean Cupcake. My son loved his pancakes! My wife's sandwich was supposed to be on a biscuit, but we received it on multi-grain bread, so it didn't meet expectations, though it had potential. Hash browns were well seasoned, but somehow not as flavorful as we thought they would be. Lastly, we were unfortunately disappointed with the cupcake, quite dry and dense cake, but the frosting was fresh and delicious. I wanted to love this place, and seeing other 5 star reviews makes me think this was just a fluke. Not sure if we will try Courageous again. ☹️

Fun eclectic place with a cool vibe and excellent food! Haven’t tried everything but the coffee is solid, ham and cheese croissant and the apple tart were delicious. Will definitely return to try everything else.

Used to my go to breakfast place in Elmhurst. The main reason for this was the options they offered. For example turkey sausage instead of regular sausage. Not to mention the omelettes. Now with the menu change it’s just eh. Not as many options anymore. Not sure as the reason with the whole change. Definitely will be on my back end of breakfast options.

Nearly $4 for a cup of below average black tea. Plain black tea. I totally understand an overpriced cupcake, but this doesn’t make sense. Service was also whatever. Store decor was cheerful and the background music was not intrusive; the store is clean.

Great food and service

Food is okay. Regular items seem kind of greasy, especially for a place that seems to present as healthier/GF/vegan/less preservatives. My husband and I blamed it on other things until we realized it had to be our greasy breakfast that was upsetting our stomach after several times of ordering from here. Coffee is excellent! Presentation not so good. I usually get my food to go. I understand if the to-go containers aren’t perfect (food wise) things can get messy. However the last three times I had coffee to go it was put in a cup so haphazardly. So much leaked down the sides that the biodegradable cup is literally flaking off and falling apart in my hands as I am writing this review. Hope they can make a few tweaks so they are able to stick around for a long time.

Courageous is a regular place for my family. The staff is friendly and always smiling. The food is amazing! My favorites include the bacon melt sandwich, Chiliquiles and the breakfast burrito. If you want a treat the strawberries and cream French toast is special!
