My
first
visit
to
Heidelberg's
Toniq
Club
yesterday
was
a
mixed
bag.
On
the
plus
side,
there's
a
fine
selection
of
music
and
friendly
staff,
especially
behind
the
bar.
In
principle,
the
club
is
well
suited
for
partying.
And
here
comes
the
problem
with
Toniq.
It's
best
to
come
with
as
large
a
group
of
friends
as
possible.
You
won't
meet
new
people
there.
One
reason
for
this
is
that
all
seating
places
(besides
a
few
at
the
bar)
have
to
be
rented,
which
has
the
effect
of
groups
separating
from
each
other.
With
my
friends
not
of
the
outgoing
type,
I
often
have
no
choice
but
to
go
out
on
my
own.
The
atmosphere
in
the
Toniq
does
not
invite
socializing
and
flirtation.
It
is
hard
to
pinpoint
why,
but
In
other
clubs
it
is
generally
much
easier
to
connect
to
strangers.
Here,
every
attempt
at
conversation
was
instantly
terminated.
People
seemed
just
not
interested
in
meeting
others.
I
saw
plenty
of
singles
standing
around
the
dance
floor,
holding
their
drinks
in
their
hands,
for
hours.
Some
women
appeared
to
be
waiting
for
men
to
make
their
“move”,
which
some
did.
But
as
far
as
I
could
tell,
not
much
came
out
of
it.
It
was
just
not
the
right
setting
for
a
flirt.
Or
any
kind
of
contact.
In
summary:
Recommended
for
groups.
Avoid
it,
if
you
are
on
your
own
and
single.
