A picturesque lake placed amidst the green hills of Thekkady. We visited the lake as a part of the nature walk by the Forest Department. The guide was really good in explaining the details and the history. The boat ride in this Lake was truly magnificent. Though sighting of wild animals is purely on luck, we did sight few of them. The serene look was the jungle is something to look forward to.

Periyar, IPA, is the longest river and the river with the largest discharge potential in the Indian state of Kerala. It is one of the few perennial rivers in the region and provides drinking water for several major towns. The Periyar is of utmost significance to the economy of Kerala. * Wikipedia*

The scenery is very very good in the banks of periyar river. The serene environment makes it ideal for everybody. Go in the summer seasons to visit periyar so that you can take a dip in it and feel the cold water wash away your stress. Must visit place in and around kochi.

Beautiful river of Kerala.. Powering most of hydroelectric projects in Kerala... You must go to the highranges to find where this river get all this water from... You will find umteen number of waterfalls enroute to Kattappana... It is actually the life blood of Idukki, Ernakulam, kottayam and some part of Trichur district and also Tamilnadu... Periya means big...aar means river... It is a very prominent river indeed...

Most beautiful place is Azheecode Munambam Beach. The confluence of Periyar river is beautiful. But the transport facility is very poor. There is no bridge and ferry service is not always available.
