Worst experience. During check in time and getting your luggage checked in was awful! They will lie and take you money. We have the worse experience. They took $335 bc our luggage was 2kg over weight and they even charged us for our carry on being 1kg overweight. The guy in customer service and the Indian girl were back and forth trying to figure out how much to steal the money. They send us 3 times to pay $135 dollars with no receipt or any proof that we paid. I watched the customer service kurdish guy put the money in his wallet and when I asked for a receipt he said you don’t have time you’re going to miss your flight because it’s going to take couple hours to get your a receipt. I hope they look into it! These ppl are stealing from people.

Customer service is the worst. Boastful staff and know nothing about customer service. Quality of service way too poor. If your flight gets cancelled, be prepared because not like other airports to get accommodation and transportation. They all thieves here. Regarding airport Taxi, it will cost at least $10 for one kilometre. More expensive than major big cities such as DC, Tokyo, NY, Berlin,.. etc. and only one company Taxi. No options. Straight forward monopoly. Do not be fooled by those reviews. Mostly local people and people at the airport or authority people. People never seeing other airports.

Needs a lot of improvement and the employees need training on customer service. The airport was dirty! there were cockroaches everywhere the restrooms were dirty broken doors no soap to wash your hands and people were disrespectful! It was a horrible experience. It's such a shame that the government doesn't take care of the first place that everyone sees when landing in this country!

Very professional airport, the staff are very friendly and its highly secure. They try their best for you to get maximum satisfaction. There was really very few downsides to it, so i believe it doesn’t deserve to lose a star. I truly hope i can come back again soon.

Rip offs, There are some coffee shops and refreshments facilities, compared with the local pricing is just absolute rip off, I inquired with the some officials aparantly some of this corners of the airport have been converted to little shops and they are charging people any price they want. It is well known that the price at airports are more expensive than the local shops but pricing higher by 500% compared with price per item outside the airport is not acceptable. I can tell more about how these shops been rented out, and who can put a hand on one of them, but this is outside the scope of this review!

INHUMAN. Today my mother and my sister were treated in disrespectful way during the check-in as well for the boarding, they asked my disabled mother to stand up many times while she is not able to do it properly, checking their luggage twice, including disagreeable behaviour. At the boarding, the pulled my mother’s hand to stand up again, to change to another chair resulting a lot of pain to her, while my sister was trying to explain that her bones could break easily.

I recently had the opportunity to travel through Erbil International Airport, and I must say that it was an outstanding experience. From the moment I stepped into the airport until my departure, everything was well-organized, efficient, and exceeded my expectations. Without a doubt, I give Erbil International Airport a perfect rating of five out of five stars. First and foremost, the airport's facilities were impressive. The terminal building was modern, clean, and spacious, providing a comfortable and pleasant environment for travelers. The seating areas were comfortable, and there were ample charging points for electronic devices, which is a crucial feature for modern travelers. The airport's cleanliness was exemplary, and the maintenance staff ensured that everything was in top-notch condition. The staff at Erbil International Airport were friendly, helpful, and professional. From the check-in counters to the security checkpoints and immigration, the personnel were efficient and provided excellent customer service. They were knowledgeable, courteous, and always ready to assist passengers with any inquiries or concerns. It was evident that the airport management prioritizes customer satisfaction, and the staff's positive attitude contributed to a stress-free experience. Moreover, the airport's amenities were extensive and diverse. There was a wide range of dining options, from fast-food outlets to local and international restaurants, catering to different tastes and preferences. The duty-free shops offered a great selection of products, including local handicrafts, souvenirs, and renowned brands. Additionally, the airport provided free Wi-Fi, ensuring that passengers could stay connected throughout their journey. The security measures at Erbil International Airport were stringent, yet the process was efficient and well-organized. The security staff conducted their duties with professionalism, ensuring the safety and well-being of all travelers. The airport's commitment to maintaining a secure environment without causing unnecessary inconvenience to passengers is commendable. Transportation options to and from the airport were readily available. Taxis, car rental services, and public transportation were all easily accessible, making it convenient for travelers to reach their final destinations. The airport's location is also advantageous, with good connectivity to the city center and other major attractions. In conclusion, Erbil International Airport provides a top-notch travel experience. Its modern facilities, excellent customer service, and wide range of amenities make it a standout airport in the region. Whether you're arriving or departing, this airport ensures a smooth and enjoyable journey. I highly recommend Erbil International Airport and wholeheartedly give it a well-deserved five out of five stars.

*It's the first airport, we must take off shoes and most of our clothes. *We are not allowe to bring coffee in paket or other things like that. *Staff members not that good, they should have more respect with tourists.

This airport is by far the worst experience I've ever had and it's due to the staff working there. Everything is a mess with no set standards, mad faces all over the airport, rude interactions, no one speak Arabic or even English for that matter, that is present at the entrance or around the airport. This is not a real representation of beautiful Erbil and or the arabic culture. Please look into improving this because this is an international airport and its a reflection of our culture and the region of Kurdistan. Peace.

It is a very nice and organized airport the airplanes are very good and travel worldwide the workers are very helpful and friendly in addition to the quick and simple procedures without unnecessary difficulties and delays. Also you can find your travel bag quickly and without transit problems. It contains markets, resting places, massage chairs, as well as hotels for sleeping. I highly recommend traveling through it and trying it.

Staff in the airport was surprisingly rude here, would not help me find my gate, almost would not even look at you to give you the time of day, if not for a local who spoke English I probably would have missed my flight. Security was also very rude, they even charged me extra for my Vesa because I was American very rude

Hi Erbil International Airport (IATA: EBL, ICAO: ORER) (Kurdish: فڕۆکه‌خانه‌ی نێوده‌وڵه‌تیی هه‌ولێر), is the main airport of the city of Erbil in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq. It is administered by the Iraqi Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government under a committee consisting of the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani,[citation needed] and is one of two international airports (the other being Sulaymaniyah Airport), with a third in Duhok being under construction. The new modern airport opened in 2010. The airport has one of the longest runways in the world.

Good service, very helpful staff. Just you need to take a bus to get to flight zone from departure zone as they are two seperate buildings which is annoying. Over all it's good service airport.

Google employees or representatives aren't reading the posts, usually. The volunteers provide the answers to queries and help & guide the other community members in resolving the problems faced in Google Maps. The answers are through the information available in the official help documents, experience in using Google Maps & tryouts.

Unless you go thru the VIP Lounge Arriving and departing is a HUGE headache! Arriving here international you will wait 1+ hour for your bag/bags to come off the carosel. It never fails... Then if you are a foreigner plan to have your bags checked shortly after when you are walking to transportation. When you get here for departing you will go thru 3 or even 4 different types of security checks. I get it you have to be strict in this country but completely overkill with some of this stuff. Staff is rude, doesn't even try to help you and again ... hopefully you get your bag before you file for social security.... 👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿

I strongly recommend that you do not buy anything from Erbil Duty Free. If you ask why, if you bought a product sold there in Erbil, they also confiscate the product after Duty Free, in X-ray that is, before boarding the plane. As a protest against this injustice done to us, I invite everyone not to buy anything from Erbil Duty Free. Because today us, tomorrow to you. That is, Until they apologize and correct their wrongful attitude.

My passport was stolen at Diyarkabir airport during an unplanned stopover there due to technical problems on the plane. Once at Erbil airport, I could not be admitted access to enter because my passport was missing and, for obvious reasons, my view of the airport was limited as well. But the staff were very helpful and nice in every way without forgetting that they are the authority. A perfect balance between being helpful, pleasant and authoritarian, so all respect to them. They helped me in any way they could and did research for my lost passport, but since the passport was nowhere to be found, they did what they had to do, to send me back. They helped me personally with the whole process. So all credit to the staff at the airport. I was really looking forward to seeing Erbil, this event with all the nice meetings with everything from, the staff at the airport and people on the flight has made me just want to get there even more. So now i'am back in Sweden, gonna fix a new passport and plan for my new attempt to visit.

One of the worst airports in the world. Controlled by militias and it feels like you’re in North Korea. They confiscated my drone for not having a permit while on their website don’t mention anything about drone not been allowed into the region.

The airport is very good arranged, policemen are very polite, however the shuttle bus should be more frequent and also the management of airport should check with employees of airlines specially that have sell disk inside the airport, and to be more precise the turksih airline employees are very bad bad and purposely make problem for clients there service is bad and it will negatively affect on airport environment please always check the employees and who is managing them and don’t accept from them any bad respect to local people

Appalling services and completely irrational security set up. We couldn’t get through passport control because we only had digital boarding passes (which the airline advised us to use) so we were told to go to the check in desk and get them printed. Check in desk refused. We went back to security and they sent us back to the check in desk. Eventually, after the third request (we were literally begging) they printed them. Complete waste of time. The staff are racist too - if you are any nationality but Kurdish they will treat you with disrespect. I won’t be using this airport again. Ps watch out they will do anything to find an excuse to take stuff from your bags - thieves.

One of the worst experience I have ever had. To start with the first was they try to charge me double for the COVID TEST. After explaining to them they don’t need to do that and I also had my own test. My bags got lost at the airport.

Erbil International Airport A distinguished and well-served airport, and the authorities there deal with travelers in a polite and respectful manner, and this gives the impression that the Kurdish people are civilized people and they have a distinguished deal with all ethnicities

Worst airport I ever seen!! Arrival and departure in the same hall .. passengers are unable to reach security check because of the crowd and ppl pushing each other really disgraceful .. its shame that after all these years and they still know nothing about civilization and queues!! No soap in Erbil WC’s !!! Thats shame!! .. terrible experience!

  • 3/5 omer k. 1 year ago on Google
Three annoying things I have to mention here, the two separate halls between arrivals and departures, the shops are limited and expensive as well as and the most important thing is the transportation from the airport is limited to one company and they don’t allow to any taxi entering the arrival park alone. So I hope they have these in their consideration.

The airport it's not bad. Small but you can find a place to eat, duty free, etc. One of the bad things will be, people cutting in the waiting lines, that is very annoying. Almost like they had not get the memo on this side of the world, that the line starts at the back and not at the front.
