The reviews were shining. Space was pretty unique. We stayed in the villas. No A/C and limited air circulation made sleeping a little uncomfortable. But the town is super close and easy to walk to. Great customer care and service. Best suited for younger travelers. Or in need of less amenities. Great for groups of friends.

Highly recommended. I’ve stayed in surfing villas / houses all around the world (Sri Lanka, Philippines, Mexico, France, UK), and Laneez is right up there with the best of them. The sunset views from the terrace are phenomenal, rooms are clean, instructors are cool but also very professional (shout out to João!), and the private bar is well...a lot of fun ;) The usual guest crowd is laid back and the right balance of outgoing / social and independent. It’s a little older than your typical hostel (~25-35s) but that’s exactly what we wanted. If you can book a spot (usually sold out!) then grab it - you won’t regret it. Enjoy!

First thing I want to say: this is not a hostel. I'd say is more like an AirBnB, where you are staying in a house with a bunch of people and you need to learn how to navigate the place by yourself. Nobody is explaining how the house works, neither you will find signs or a board with news. The house itself is beautiful, nicely decorated, beautiful terrace and the view is breath taking. Besides that, it has been a terrible experience for me. I arrived and literally no one was there expecting new guests. No check-in, no questions asked (anybody enters this house? yes). Got someone to show me where the room was and just took a bed. The room smelled to humidity and even had some mold in the corners. I found later that this was also happening in the bathrooms. Little to no storage space. Lockers? Nope. 6-bed dorm should be 4-bed due to size. The kitchen was a complete mess all the time, which was extended to other common areas of the house. Blame it on the other guests, but also there was no one there to prevent this from happening since there was only a lady during the morning. Getting someone on the phone? Impossible. They don't pick up in any of the provided numbers. Due to the bad organization, the lack of information and the bad behaviour of other guests, ALL my food was thrown away from the fridge, even when it was correctly labeled with name and check out date. Then some of it appeared in a secondary fridge (staff one) and got an apology, but at this point I had already decided to leave the place. I paid the nights I stayed (minus the food) and went to a proper hostel. If you don't mind all of the described things above, this might be your place. If you do, like me, then better find other accomodation.

Extraordinary surf house in Ericeira with breathtaking ocean views, where you will totally disconnect, meet great people and surf. The owners are very welcoming and friendly, as are the people that stay there. The rooms are nice and clean. Multiple surf lessons are organized on daily basis, with transport to and from the beach. Boards and wetsuits are included. The surf instructors have a very professional and fun way of teaching. After a few lessons you will actually see progress in your surfing. Laneez Ericeira Surf House is situated a few minutes from the city centre, where you will find very cosy café’s, bars and restaurants. My friend and I had an absolutely unforgettable surf holiday and we will definitely go back there!

Exceptional house with stunning views and wonderful people. I did not want to leave Laneez and will definitely come back. The volunteers and people who work there are super friendly and helpful. The surfing lessons are fun and a great way to make friends!

I recently visited Laneez for a weekend and it unfortunately turned into a complete nightmare when I discovered a bed bug infestation in the room I was placed in. Upon check in to the room I dropped my bags and raised initial concerns as I noticed a dead bug in the room and asked staff to check it. The staff assured me after checking the room that it was not a bed bug and that there were no issues. Not wanting to overreact or cause a scene I listened to them and stayed in that room and tried to enjoy my holiday. The next evening I returned back to the room and immediately went to sleep but encountered a distressing situation when I woke at 3am to find a pool of live bed bugs in the bed. It was an incredibly traumatic experience. I panicked and went downstairs to the common area in the middle of the night and relayed this information to who I later discovered was the owner who informed me that the room had a history of bed bugs for years and a recent incident. He provided me with his number and I moved from the hotel that morning when the sun came up. After returning home the next day, the nightmare continued as bed bug bites began appearing on my face, chest and back. I had been careful with my luggage however I immediately organized an inspection of my home to ensure I had not brought anything back with me. Unfortunately I was alerted that there may be bed bugs that had hitchhiked from Laneez and I was advised to go through an extensive and costly extermination process to avoid an infestation from developing in my apartment. I alerted the hotel and the owner to the matter along the way to ensure they dealt with the situation however they have refused to take responsibility for the matter denying that they have an issue. I strongly advise against staying at Laneez, as this has been a very distressing and costly experience that I do not wish on anyone.

I did not stay in this surf house, but in the cottage which is 100 meters away from the surf house. However I had an access to the surf house and had to go there for a breakfast. Breakfast is simply (bread, ham&cheese, jam, yoghurt and fruit bowl, coffee, tea, orange juice). The cottage has four bedrooms and only one bathroom. The bedroom has got shelves, hanger and table with a chair, windows have a blinds and shutters. There are quite well equipped kitchen and living room. I would say that he cleanliness could be improved. There is no cleaning during the stay, bathroom can get a bit messy when up to 8 people use it.

I had the baddest experience with them. They arranged a tranfer from Lisbon airport to the hostel for me because my flight was pretty late. Everything was fine till I got to the hostel. I rang the door to check in, nobody anwered. Rang a few times, called them a few times.. without respons. Luckely my taxi driver knew how to open the gate and let me in (if my taxi driver didn’t help me, I ended up sleeping on the street.) In the hostel there was nobody, it was 11:30pm and I was really tired. NOBODY PICKED UP THE PHONE WHEN I CALLED THEM 10 TIMES ON 3 DIFFERENT NUMBERS, NOBODY WAS THERE. I waited for 40min inside still no response. I was very angry, sad and tired so I just went into a room and slept (it was late and I booked one so). I couldn’t sleep well because of the situation and called the number again at 06:30 am. They told me they were sorry, and that I could relax in the room I slept in. Somebody would come at 07:30, to give me my room. At 07:30am I went downstairs, the lady (WHO WAS VERY FRIENDLY!) said that I could sit down, eat breakfast and relax but all I wanted was my own bed where I could put my stuff. At 09:00 am they still didn’t gave me a room, so I left and let them cancell my stay. I needed to look for another place because of them. At the end they cancelled it, and didn’t charge me. (It was their fault so it was fair of them to not charge me) That’s it.

Super friendlyplace .. one of the best option if you want surf (if you want to learn every day there are lessons) or ifyou want meet some one to go surfing with . There different option of accomodation breakfast is included Great.valuen

Great place for single travellers. You will feel like home after day one, meeting easy going, mature and kind people. I mostly met people from Netherlands there. Its really close to the square full of restaurants and bar. There is offer of surf lessons for all levels usually including transport, boards and wetsuits for 40 euro. There is 1 teacher per 5/6 students, lessons are ok, but not the best I ever had. I was a bit sad that there werent any organized events the week I stayed there. Definitely will come again :)

Welcoming hosts. Exceptional atmosphere. Excellent surfing lessons with transport to and from the beach. The house is ideally located with surfing spots nearby and a bus stop just in front to bring you to other spots when you want to try surfing on your own. They have private rooms and dorms. Another way of transport is Uber, it's quite cheap.

Very familiar, very beautiful furnished “living room” With fireplace, remarkable view and terrace over the central ericeira surf beach, and enough relaxing/working areas. The 6 dorm was simple but fine and cleaned up every day. Breakfast was good with bread vegetables fruits and cereals. I was travelling alone but due to the familiar atmosphere I didn’t feel alone for one second. I really can understand the people I met there visiting the Hostel Every year.

Stayed in both the villas and the house. Both were lovely with lovely people, breakfast was lovely, activities were lovely, location was lovely. Very lovely place.
