Government owned hotel. Overpriced and under maintained. Historic but otherwise not worth the money.

One of the oldest hotels in Eritrea and is one of the tallest buildings in the capital. It's government owned and officials and elderly likes this hotel. There is internet cafe inside the hotel. The restaurant is usually used for meetings and wedding purposes. Needs renovation and enhanced customer service.

Pros Cheap Very clean Cleaning staff are nice Good and cheap food Nice cafeteria and amazing atmosphere Room window over looking very good scenery Nice location. Ice cream shop near by. Cons Electricity works at night only. No running water only baskets Elevators was not working. Staff is nice and sweet but the restaurant workers are kinda lazy. May be make you take the food upstairs. ( 7 floors 😭) Food take so long to be ready. Overall good experience

My memories of Nyala date only from 1985-6 - stayed there many months- during the famine - even then the lifts didn’t work properly then and the rooms very basic - good nightclub on top floor. Ground floor bar was good each day Outside was the best places to eat nearby . Good restaurants and cafes - Very interesting city going through difficult times - was still part of Ethiopia then
