Good restaurant to try out authentic German cuisine. The food is tasty, and is not expensive. One can spend time drinking beverages like beer, wine, apfelwine also. The staff is very Cordial. Always expect crowd at the place. I would recommend the restaurant and will visit again.

Great German restaurant. We visited it because our friends recommended it. It was worth to go there! The food selection is perfect. You can have traditional German food, furthermore you can try traditional dishes from Frankfurt. They have daily offers as well so it is easy to select something from the wide range. The chef has very good taste. The meals we had were perfect. And the dessert (fried apple rings with cinnamon sugar and vanilla ice) was like a dream. People! You must visit this restaurant!

Went a couple of weeks ago and it is a very typical German restaurant. I tried some of the local Frankfurt dishes and drinks. I can say it has a nice ambience, the food is very traditional and has a lot of variety (not my favorite in terms of taste but it is worth trying new, typical things), it gets very full with locals so making a reservation is recommended, finally the prices are fair and service is kind. Would recommend!

One of the best German places to eat. Super friendly staff, quick service and quality food. It feels really authentic and their portions are perfect. Their to go service was perfect in lockdown last year. We keep coming back because we love it so much!!

Large restaurant with three rooms focusing on Frankfurt dishes. The main room can be crowded, especially on the weekend. The back room seems to be roomier and has large windows. There is also an outside seating area. The food is very tasty and our order arrived quite fast even while the restaurant was fully occupied. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes.

One of the typical traditional Apfelwein joint locations with rustic German local foods. A well visited place, making reservations for weekends and during sunny weathering strictly recommended. The joint has great outside sitting area and a corner for children to play which is really great in the summer. We always enjoy to come here for the Frankfurt Schnitzel

Super tasty German food and very nice authentic atmosphere. One star less only because of unfriendly Bartender and one of waitress . I come often with my family to this Restaurant, we like food and they have children corner but some employees could be more polite to the costumers….pity

This restaurant offers traditional German and local Frankfurt dishes. The food was tasty and different. They offer exquisit radler beer which I really reccomend you too try. Staff is really polite and the ambient was a bit oldfashioned but still lovely.

I've been there twice. First experience was super good. Other a bit less good. But the food both times was great. Really appreciate the quality. Serving was very quick for the first time, and pretty slow for the second. We got table in the first room last time, but really liked atmosphere in the last room. Staff is friendly and polite. There are menus available in English.

German food is definitely not my kind of food, but I've been here a couple of times and was always pleasantly surprised. Service is fast, portions are big and reasonably priced and everything tastes well. Supposedly it's one of the best, is not the best traditional German restaurant in Frankfurt, but as I don't really have a comparison, I'll trust them.

Super original Frankfurter Restaurant. Nice selection of good food for any taste. Typical Hessische Speciality dishes. Friendly personnel and ample space inside and outside. Can only recommend.

The Lahmer Esel Restaurant is a quaint, authentic and heartwarming reminder of how modern gastronomy can help bring families and friends together in times of hardship or happiness. This small restaurant offers ample seating outside and inside. The dining rooms are well lit and there is no distracting music played in the background. Chairs and benches are comfortable with multiple pillows at the disposal of the guests to help with seating. There are very clean and modern male and female bathrooms in the basement. The staff is incredibly kind, helpful and very patient. The menu is very tasteful with a range of vegetarian as well as meat options ranging from schnitzel to porc and beef over fish. Whilst the menu is quite large the menus are often variations of specific meat cuts and vary in the sides, less in the main meat or fish component. The sides are very tasty, baked potatoes, fries, pasta, salads etc. Deserts are awesome! No basic, off the factory floor ice creams but a set of hand prepared ice cream deserts, my recommendation is the "Heisse Liebe". This is an amazing small typical Frankfurt restaurant that everyone will love for every occasion! If I could give out more stars I would!

A really great local restaurant, with a nice family friendly atmosphere, great beer, and consistently good customer service. Found myself becoming a weekly regular here recently. If you're not sure what to get, try out their Jäger-hacksteak, it's great!

I had the Salted pork ribs (in photo). Best pork I've ever had. Almost melted in my mouth! Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal. I'd definitely go back, especially of you are seeking local Frankfurt cuisine. They had an English menu for me too, which was nice. The name translates to "The Lame Ass" 😂🤣 1807. I posted their menu story here in the pic and the details of my dish.

A lovely dining experience. Great food, friendly service. Canadian travelers be aware that this is very much your father's or grandfather's restaurant, but the quality of the food and drink are excellent.

Nice local apfelweinkneipe (cider bar), food, price was in a correct level. Better make a reservation if you are going for dinner time… it is crowded also in summer weekdays.
