Small restaurant, unimpressive from the outside but when you’re inside, it feels really cozy. Taylor, our server, stopped by from time to time to refill our drinks and check on everything else. Jennifer was also really nice and friendly. Hoagies we’re delicious and their special (2 pizza slices and a fountain drink) was a great deal. I do recommend it and will be going back!

Best calzone I’ve had - and I’ve had many! Cheesy, lots of pepperoni and sausage and the marinara was perfect!

SUCH spectacular service and we only got takeout. Every person who walked through the door was greeted warmly and the the staff were all very efficient.

Overall staff was great, order was ready over the phone in 30 minutes, the price for a large plain cheese and pepperoni is very fair. I eat pizza from all over the US, I can only give this pizza a 3 star. Overall the crust was good but both the cheese and sauce need more flavor to be great, not bad by any means just not great. Worth a visit though.

Seriously people, stop playing food critics like you work for Bon Appetite's. Back down on earth we stopped in with welcome greetings and friendly people. Jennifer, the owner, was our server. Friendly, super accommodating and just downright fun. Food was very good- wife had pizza and I had salad and a sandwich with a couple of local beers priced VERY reasonably. It was my wife's birthday and Jennifer came out with a candle on my wife's pizza...very nice touch. All in the time being the rest of the servers were buzzing around keeping things spotless. We met Peyton, the owners young son, again super friendly and very well spoken. I did not get the name of the other waitress but fit right in with pleasantries. All in all, will be back when in the area. There is a reason Jennifer has owned this business now for 16 years. Nice job!!

Love this place so much.. I could eat their food everyday lol... Truly though food is always great and so are the people... People really make the difference and they got a good crew...

We visited from South Georgia. Pizza is great! Excellent calzones! The sauce is very tasty and not too sweet. There was generous amounts of cheese and pepperoni with a nice, crispy crust. Well done! Highly recommend to any visitors looking for a good, local restaurant.

In a world of hard to find help and decreased customer service this restaurant has it over all! Always welcoming and inviting for dine in and clearly have so many regulars which is always a good sign. Take out call always handled kindly in a very busy place and food ready when we arrive. We frequent there and food is delicious and fairly priced! Way to go!

I hosted a work holiday party and ordered from the catering menu. The pastas, salad and garlic knots were a huge hit with my staff. Jennifer was great at suggesting how much to order and had it ready to pick up right on time. I would highly recommend Hoagies for catering to anyone looking to feed a crowd on a budget!

Delicious hot pizza. Pie or by the slice. Thin crust style. OMG. Friendly service, decent pricing, free WIFI. In fair weather, climbing equipment for the 8 and under crowd outside while you wait. Accessible; paved parking behind, walk in on paved sidewalk. Small seating area, sports on the VT and light sports decor. So, go for the pizza. Big menu on the wall. Some desserts, too.

I had a very difficult time getting into this parking lot. Blame it on Google maps. There are two parking lots one on either side and I took the one that was adjacent but looked like it was correct. Getting out of that parking lot and immediately doing a sharp U-turn in a busy street was difficult. It didn't help that the handicap parking spaces were blocked by a single Vermont red truck parked kitty cornered against two spaces preventing anyone parking there by a to go order. There is a ramp. Actually we have two ramps. One on either side which was also confusing. One side leads only to the outside seating. This was a very unusual atmosphere. It almost as if it was in the wrong interior space. There was so much going on with various worldly decor from Hawaiian to other decor that it didn't go together. That day the service was terrible. I wasn't the only one who waited over 25 minutes sitting down without a server coming to the table. Two women in front of me waited till after I ordered to even be asked to order. They took theirs to go because it took so long to get their food. Another gentleman seated himself, went to the counter only to be told he needed to sit down and somebody would be with him . I'm pretty sure he left because it took too long and there was plenty of staff. It wasn't as if there wasn't enough staff. Another single woman waited much longer than I did and ordered after three other tables. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak small grinder which came with chips. I also got a fountain soda. The sandwich was ok. Nothing to write home. By the way, this was at 4:00 p.m. when I initially went in and I didn't leave till after 5:00 pm. I had to wait longer than I ate! I probably would not go to this restaurant. I rarely say that but nothing stands out as being particularly worth the hassle.

Hoagie's is a wonderful mom and pop Pizza, Pasta, Subs, Burgers etc. Joint. Very much a quintessential quality small town restaurant. My personal favorite is the Stromboli, but having eaten their dozens of times over the years I have yet to have a bad meal.

This here, is my go to pizza place. I've heard some people say it's greasy, but I think it's fine. My favorite go to pizza is the buffalo chicken. Never had a better buffalo chicken pizza than the one I've had here. They also make some killer subs.

After the lunch rush. Very few people in the place. Food was very good. Service was good. Tables weren't quite as clean as I think they should be...could have used a wipe down. Seem to be very knowledgeable about gluten intolerance.

Excellent food! The house made Italian dressing is SO delicious. It's so popular that they even sell it for take home. It comes in a small fountain soda cup. The calzone I had was absolutely THE BEST I have ever had. Very friendly staff. Nothing negative to say whatsoever. Oh, and they even sold me some of the sauce that came with the calzone 😁😋

Horrible service.... going to charge me for a small amount of Parmesan cheese for my Lasagna and Speghetti. Which they give you if you eat in the restaurant. After buying 100 dollars in take out food, that I picked up myself. And found it in my heart to give a 15 dollar tip. Ive been going there for year's but seriously will go somewhere else after this expirance. Very sad....

Hoagies 8s such a great place to go for a meal. I enjoy coming on break to get a fast. Filling meal. I'm happy they are close by and always quick when placing an order. If you want family meal and good specials this is the place for a lil bite to eat

Raved about this place only to show up and find out that they removed all their 'Mexican food items'. No chicken quesadilla or Mexican pizza. This place is horrible now!. I will not support a place that is anti-hispanic.

Its one of the best pizza places around, very good bbq wings, great blue cheese and ranch. **Delicious pizza still, honestly has the best cheese and toppings of any pizza place I've had in Vermont, definitely a must stop. Great service and parking, the drinks are refreshing.

Myself and two friends ate at Hoagies last night.....the service was good, food was good BUT we asked for individual checks......brought checks without being itemized .....from the amounts it was clear an error was made. Asked 3 times for itemized bill....NEVER got it ! BUT what we did get was a very embarassing moment with the OWNER ! She came over to our table and SLAMMED down cash in front of me and says THIS is what you should have done and proceeds to slide the cash over to my friend who had been wrongly charged for one of my items !!! I said first I don't always have CASH on me and secondly if we had received accurate bills this wouldn't have happened....I mean we asked THREE times for an itemized bill ! Then she glared in my friends face......then stomped off. Well by then EVERYONE in the place is looking at us ! Such an embarassing evening for 3 woman who recently lost their husbands and were just trying to go to dinner and enjoy each others company ! Then I just look at my credit card statement online and somehow my card was charged an extra $10......different from my receipt !! Needless to say "I" will never step foot in that place again.........and this was the owner ! There was no excuse for this kind of outburst & scene ! ....XXXXXXXX.............Sorry owner but YOU did NOT get the story right !!! We NEVER ever did get the itemized bill we requested.........My receipt I was given alreadt included a tip.......my receipt from you was $10 less than my debit card withdrawal.........so how does that happen???? You also forgot your rudness in your review comment........

Hoagies is our favorite restaurant! We are there at least once a week. Jennifer and her staff are always pleasant, no matter how busy they are they take the time to chat for a minute. The food done by the kitchen is always consistent whether we eat in or do take out. We enjoy the family atmosphere we get!

We've been coming for years; excellent service, great prices and a better quesadilla than the Mexican restaurant down the street!

The food is delicious and a good price, the inside of the restaurant is gorgeous, clean, and inviting. I got pizza and my roommate got the chicken parm. It was awesome. I’ll definitely be going back.

Best pizza in Essex! Been getting takeout from here for years. Very consistent. Locally owned. Family run. Jennifer and crew are always friendly and professional. Pizza has hearty crust, fresh ingredients and great sauce. Calzones are huge. There are plenty of other options, too, but I’ve always just gone with the pizza/calzones. Stick with what you love. Beer and wine served, if you sit in restaurant. Several beers on tap, usually including local craft brew favorites Fiddlehead IPA and Switchback.
