A timeless and imposing castle in the Alentejo landscape, its construction is impressive because it is almost entirely made of marble. To visit it, access is through the interior of the inn. From the top of its tower you have a fantastic view over the Alentejan plain. It is a pity that the tower, which can be visited by all people, is so badly treated, and there is no information panel regarding access to the space...it is an important part of our cultural heritage that is being degraded every day.

Gorgeous place, but the rooms do need a bit of maintenance to keep things in their due standard. Top notch breakfast, very friendly and professional staff.

Staying in an old palace is a really cool experience, especially for those of us from the new world. The paintings, furnishings, tapestries, and other antiquities throughout the building really drove home the setting for us. The rooms are on the small side and they actually look a bit bigger on the website than they are in person. Our room had a bed, 1 armchair a side table with a wooden chair, and a TV with stand. The entryway had a closet system and the bathroom was large but awkwardly setup. The toilet was very close to the shower and the bidet took up prime real estate. The bathrooms would be much more useful and luxurious with the bidets. The views out of the palace windows were amazing and we were surprised to see horses, chickens, and farms so close to the castle still today. It definitely gave you that old world feel. Breakfast in the dining room was fantastic and the lounges throughout the main level of the hotel were great for an evening of relaxing. There was a small bar that was open relatively late, but the restaurant was closed during our stay in the evenings. We had a very nice time and would certainly recommend to others.

Was dissapointed in this Pousado, whilst beautiful, the restaurant was closed, although breakfast was superb. Had to get a taxi into town for evening meal, there is a little place 5 minutes away but very small and a limited menu and owner was quite rude. The staff at hotel were very nice and helpful also very apologetic. Think they were very short staffed so maybe that was the problem.

Great spot to take afternoon tea, a coffee or beer...the bar overlooks the town below and it feels like you are in a museum 🖼️

Not too much to see or do but beautiful setting and worth visiting if you’re near. Bundled with lunch and a museum and visit to nearby pottery shops and it was a nice day.

A beautiful place for a romantic get away or for a family. The building itself is absolutely beautiful with lots of ancient art and deco, and the staff was helpful and extremely professional and welcoming. Totally recommend and will com back when in Estremoz.

Great view from the top. Stairs are narrow and may be difficult for some people.

Exceptional. When you stay at the Pousada Castelo Estremoz you enter a different world - a world of serious history, a world of luxury, and a world of service - courteous and friendly at all times. High praise for the lovely staff and fabulous visit; much enjoyed!

This is a nice, cosy place to sit down and drink a tea in the afternoon protected from the cold air of Autumn outside. The staff is nice, although they tend to disappear and you have to call them using a bell on at the bar 😂
