Adrian focuses on form and safety with instructions that are physiologically sound and yet so easy to follow and understand (better than my physiology teacher!). I would strongly recommend to anyone who would like to get serious in lifting fundamentals and prevent injuries while doing so! The gym itself is bright and spacious, well kept with a lovely and diverse community that will always make you feel welcome.

I joined the Queer lifting fundamentals class and have had such a great time so far. Amanda the trainer is really kind and creates a safe, non-judgemental environment and I feel way more confident already. I've also had personal training sessions from Emma B and highly recommend those or joining one of her classes. She focuses on moving your body and encourages you in a kind and educated way. Thank you Recess Fit Club!

I started personal training (2x week) with Adrian in December 2022. Now 4 short months later I feel stronger, and ready to embark on a more active lifestyle in spring. I’m very grateful for his expertise, guidance and positive energy.

Beautiful space, spacious gym with lots of class and personal training options for people in all stages of their fitness journey. Great community vibes and support. They can help you reach your fitness goals - from gaining overall strength to improving endurance, to more specific things like improving your overhead press. Really knowledgeable and friendly owners!

I just did my first Active Chair for seniors today at Recess Fit Club. Adrian and the team are quite welcoming, it is a smallish space and they don't seem to have too many things going at once which was nice for an elderly newbie like me. I'm sure I will feel it tomorrow, but in a good way. I will be back next week for sure.

Welcoming, unpretentious place. I've been training with Adrian for years now. His deep knowledge, safety focus and positive attitude mean that you can train hard without undue fear of injury, and have fun as well!

I can't say enough good things about this place! Whether you're working on rehab, looking for tailored workouts for a specific sport or activity, or just looking to get started, Recess is an amazing choice. I've been training here for a several months now and have absolutely loved my experience. I was recovering from a few surgeries and looking to both rehabilitate and prepare for an upcoming soccer season. I've been so happy with the tailoring of my training: moving from rehab into very specific and personalized work to strengthen and develop for soccer. Personal training is customized and thoughtful and the classes are small and super accessible, providing the perfect balance between personalized workouts and group motivation. I've been attending both as I find them to complement each other really well. Give this place a try!

We have been training with Adrian for 6 months, before he started the space at Recess Fit Club. He is both a great personal trainer and group trainer. The classes are fun and engaging and tailored to different fitness levels. He cares about every single person in his class and is a great trainer. The new space is top notch too, all the equipment you need, lots of space to stretch, highly recommended for strength and endurance training.

Try. This. Gym. I’ve been working out with Adrian for about eight months and I am so happy with my improved functional fitness and weight loss. He adapted our approach as I’ve dealt with minor injuries and a major health scare. He is a realistic, patient, and passionate teacher. Millie and Adrian have created an awesome space and community at Recess Fit Club. Come check it out.

Trainer Adrian kept my partner Thom and I healthy,(in mind body and spirit!), throughout the Pandemic and the individual and group classes at his new venture RECESS FIT CLUB is designed to do the same for everyone. Meeting the client where their fitness needs live is Adrian's specialty -plus his new gym in Korea Town is an awesome spacious place to hang out in! Highly Recommended!

I love the fact that it’s small sized class and Adrian always stays close to watch your forms and provide guidance so you don’t injure yourself. Everyone is friendly and Adrian excels at creating safe environment. Recess is perfect for those who are new to exercising/ or getting back to routine. Highly recommend!

My sense of belonging in a community has never been stronger than at Recess. Millie and Adrian embody inclusivity, not just in words but as the essence of their gym. The commitment of every member to foster a welcoming atmosphere allows everyone to pursue their fitness goals – be it strength, friendships, new skills, or simply staying active. Personally drawn to weight lifting, I struggled with consistency until I found this rare gem with its exceptional group lifting program. Since May 2023, attending twice a week, I've witnessed significant strength gains and connected with fantastic individuals. Undoubtedly, the best gym in the city!

I have been going to Recess for about a year now and I cannot recommend it enough! Millie and Adrian have a refreshing approach to fitness and have created a truly inclusive space. It is an ideal choice for anyone seeking a welcoming and empowering environment to develop gym skills, regardless of their fitness level. Having tried several other boutique gyms, I can confidently say that Recess has become my favourite place to work out in the city.

If you’re looking for a place to *safely* kickstart or continue your fitness journey in Toronto, Recess could be perfect for you! This place is a breath of fresh air for a Toronto fitness community that’s becoming saturated with cookie-cutter franchise groupfit gyms that preach a one-size-fits-all method for getting in shape. Want to learn how to lift safely while getting a great workout in a friendly environment? This just might be the place. From the moment I was greeted at the door by Adrian, I had a good feeling that this cheery, inviting space was the real deal — and man, it didn’t disappoint! Working with coach Emma on the day was a blast, too — friendly, knowledgeable, she made everyone feel welcomed into a safe space to get your sweat on. As Arnold would say, I’ll be back!

Came across Recess because of its convenient location and I’m so glad that I did. I’ve never seen a gym embody community the way they do! Adrien and Millie truly care about each and every person who comes through that door, regardless of where they are at in their fitness journey. Unlike other group fitness gyms, Recess instructors put a lot of focus on technique and injury prevention. As well, the class sizes are small enough that everyone gets the support they need. It often feels like personal training!

I went to my first class here about a week ago, and would give it six stars if that were an option! Millie, Adrian, and the other participants in my class were *so* friendly - when I walked in, Millie said "oh, you must be Carli," and proceeded to get to know me in a genuine, non-sales-y way. The next-newest person in my class was taking their 31st class that day. The class itself was great: I had never done strength training before, but Adrian was very attentive and helped me learn all the exercises using proper technique. The workout felt low-impact at the time, but I felt it in all the right places for 2 days after. It's clear this place is building both a thoughtful exercise curriculum and a strong sense of community. I'm excited to go back in the new year.

Recess is amazing! Gyms have always been super-intimidating to me, but Recess is such a warm and welcome place.... it's not all gym bros, but people of all kinds and levels. Adrian works with people from where they are to get stronger in a safe, pain-free way, and he's incredibly encouraging. Take a class or try out their personal training, you won't regret it.

I just finished the Lifting Fundamentals course with Emma, and boy was it a blast! I normally can’t lift an empty suitcase out of my closet without groaning, so to have Emma teach us how to use bad a$$ weight lifting machines and use them confidently felt like becoming a whole new person. But most of our work involved using just our bodies and maybe a dumbbell or a cute pink kettlebell! And almost everything we covered could be modified for at-home practice, so if you don’t have a ~*~fancy gym~*~ at home but you DO have Campbells soup cans, then my friend, you are still in luck. We also spent a tonne of time getting our form just right, which was so valuable. You can’t get swole if you are getting sore! Emma took things nice and slowly, always letting us get through each movement on our own time, with lots of personalised direction (and modifications if you have an injury). Emma is also a sweet, lovely person who it’s a pleasure to spend an hour with each week. Truly, the welcoming, non-intimidating vibes at this gym are incredible. A place for gentle, weak, non-athletic, non-bros with aching joints to come and get stronger, more fit, and less sore together? Pure magic, people. Do yourself a favour and come join this class!

I love these classes! It’s 50 minutes of being satisfying and gratifying fitness, designed to welcome people of all fitness levels and ages, so that you can work at an intensity that is sufficiently challenging for you, without peer pressure. The attendees are friendly and it’s a supportive, body-positive environment.

I enjoy lifting weights but haven't trained in years. Traditional gyms didn't appeal to me, and I found group classes were the only way I could consistently exercise. Finally, a group lifting class! I love the support from my instructor Emma on Wednesday nights. Go Recess Fit Club!

I can't praise Recess Fit Club enough! Their programs are tailored to individual needs and led by helpful, knowledgeable trainers. The friendly atmosphere makes working out a joy. Classes are small, and the space is always spotless. I've never missed a class since I joined -- they make it so easy to show up. If you're looking for a fantastic strength program in a welcoming environment, this gym is the best! Highly recommended.

Love this place! Adrian runs an amazing program. Its beginner friendly, yet challenging and the community is wonderful. Great for anyone looking to actually learn how to do the excercises properly and build strength.

I’ve been training with Adrian since last March and the results have been great. He has custom tailored my workouts for my level of fineness ( I’m 54yrs old and not in the best of shape) in order to reach my goals at a pace which is both safe and successful. Adrian has a very relaxed and is extremely knowledgeable about various methods of training, recuperation and diet: I honestly can’t say enough. Where I once dreaded going to the gym, I now look forward to it and leave every session feeling fantastic. I highly recommend Recess Fit Club to anyone who wants a great gym with a fantastic atmosphere run by friendly and knowledgeable people.

Have been going to the recess fit club group classes for few months now and I cannot recommend enough! Definitely getting much stronger. The community is great, everyone is friendly, and is perfect for those who are new to or want to get back to weight lifting. All the instructors are very knowledgeable and they give so much personal attention to each person every class to make sure you get the moves, the right amount of weight, keep track of your process and educate you along the way! I had a personal trainer before, and I prefer their group class instead! much better value and fun!

Recess Fit is an incredibly accessible gym with strength, endurance and mobility classes where all are welcome. Adrian, Millie and Amanda meet you where you are at and work with you and inspire you to meet your fitness goals safely. Classes have a community vibe and are fun, informative and sweaty! I have referred family and friends and Recess is now part of our fitness routine. Can’t recommend more highly.

Visited recess recently. I was surprised how welcoming the space and the head coach (Adrian) was. I really enjoy their classes and Adrian attention to detail to pace and form. Introductory class was cheap too.

Recess Fit Club is a wonderful gym if you want to feel stronger, more flexible and more powerful. The trainers are kind, helpful and very knowledgeable. They have an extremely well thought out system in place that allows one to join at anytime, no matter your fitness level, and seamlessly integrate into any class.I feel so grateful to have this gym in my neighbourhood.

Recess has such a welcoming and inclusive environment, with skilled and knowledgeable trainers. They are attentive to each member and emphasize building community as well as strength and overall health. Their approach to exercise also makes goals feel more achievable compared to many other gym environments. Would highly recommend!

Working with Adrian has made fitness the most fun and accessible it has ever been for me! He meets you were you are, listens and is great at explaining things in a way you'll remember. I came across Recess coincidentally and feel so lucky I did! I have since recommended this hidden gem of a gym to so many people and look forward to continuing my fitness journey here this year.

I have been a personal training client of Adrian since 2017. He helped me go from totally inactive with no idea what to even do in the gym to fit and healthy. He is an excellent teacher who is quick to adapt to ensure everyone gets a great workout without injury. I really appreciate his knowledge to adapt exercises to ensure I get a complete workout even when old aches and pains throw up obstacles. I am loving the whole vibe at recess and the group classes especially. All of the trainers are knowledgeable and the curriculum allows you to see progress all the time. I really appreciate the focus on working hard but smart and safe. The other people in the classes are friendly and it’s nice to see the same faces and see others progressing too. There is a real community feeling that Mille, Adrian, and all the trainers work hard to promote.

I learned a lot of useful stuff in the lifting fundamentals class. I had virtually no prior knowledge or experience with safe weightlifting and was hoping to change that for health reasons. The class had both informative instructions and practical part where we applied our newly gained knowledge and got feedback. Emma is a fantastic PT and instructor!
