I work at the Detroit Sonder, so I naturally have high expectations but The Liberty exceeded them! This is my first time being a guest at a Sonder, and I had a great time. My boyfriend and I came to celebrate our anniversary, and we loved it. He’s never been in an Sonder, so it was an even bigger deal for him. Our unit was well clean and organized, parking and key access instructions were easy to follow, and we had a great view of the football field on our balcony. The only “issue” we had was figuring out how to open the balcony door, but the person we chatted with quickly resolved the problem by texting us clear instructions. We loved the variety of food and bar options within walking distance. Utilizing the transportation street cars and subway stops in front of the building also made our trip so much fun. Lots of sight seeing to do without even relaxing it. There’s a store located within the building, making it convenient to buy grocery and beauty items. We’ve already planned to make visiting this location a bi-monthly trip!

Location was amazing - easy to get to, good restaurants within easy walking distance, and the convenience of having a Shoppers and a Longo's in the same building was hard to beat. The parking available with the reservation was also wonderful, especially when I figured out how to go straight from the ramp to my floor instead of going through the lobby each time. The room itself was comfortable and a nice studio-size, with a nice balcony and a gorgeous view of the lake across the way. Having a kitchen was a great way to save some money and have easy meals (with groceries from Longo's) readily available. The room and location were definitely 5 stars for me, but there was one detail that is bringing my review down: the bed. The bed was really dreadful. The frame it was on was creaky and made lots of noise whenever I shifted at all. The mattress was really unyielding - seemed almost like a futon mattress. And the pillows provided were super light foam that gave zero support, even when I tried to use multiple pillows under my head. I woke up with killer neck and shoulder pain after the first night, which is not typically a problem I have. Fortunately, the stores in the building were really convenient, so my first stop in the morning was to get some Advil at Shoppers and a new pillow at Winners. With a better mattress and pillow, this would have been the best place I've ever stayed in Toronto by far.

**EDITED** We ended up staying at the Sonder and were completely satisfied with our stay. Someone mentioned that it's a long walk to get to your room and honestly, you get used to it. Everything you need is within walking distance. It's not downtown but not far either. Very centrally located and clean. Will definitely stay again. Well, this is unfortunate. Last night my husband and I booked two nights at the Sonder as we'll be in town for a work event. We went through the reservation process including ID verification and received an email confirmation (reservation was under my husband's name). It's important to note that the ID verification process is in two parts - take a photo of photo ID or upload a photo ID, and facial recognition. Today, I received an email that the ID verification process wasn't complete. When I called, apparently they don't accept uploaded photos - the photo of photo ID must be taken live. But I don't get it ... it's an option in your reservation process. My husband is not computer savvy and was already a little weary of the whole facial recognition thing. I don't know how he's going to react when I need to ask him to do it again and am not sure if we will move forward with the reservation. This is really too bad because we were looking forward to our stay and our work event is a five minute drive. If uploaded photos aren't allowed, it shouldn't be an option during the reservation process. It might not seem like a big deal to most of us but for those who aren't into technology, you feel the sense that you're being scammed if you're asked to provide information twice. If this is rectified somehow and we end up staying, I'm willing to change the review.

My group stayed here across two different rooms for 8 days and were thoroughly happy with the rooms and the experience in general. We were in Towers B & C, there was a minor issue with a door going to Tower C and it was fixed within a couple of hours of bringing it to Sonder's attention, despite this being a door that the residents also used so I would assume wouldn't be completely Sonders responsibility. In general the Sonder team were always very polite and professional in our interactions and I'd be delighted to stay with them again. Only thing I felt was worth mentioning was the lack of hangers in the wardrobe, I was in a room meant for 2 people and staying for 8 days and there was only about 5 hangers. I did purchase my own from a nearby store and left them all in the room so hopefully they left a few of them for other guests. It should be noted that I didn't attempt to take it up with Sonder so this will be the first they heard of it, it was cheap enough to rectify myself so I just did. The location is great, there is a streetcar stop right outside the building which will take you downtown for CA$3.35 with a presto card that you can get from the Shoppers store next door. There are loads of restaurants and bars within a short walking distance as well as several shops to pick up whatever you might need during your stay.

I stayed for 9 days and Sonder is really comfortable, cozy and calm neighborhood. And I agree the bed was super comfy!! The residents are nice and polite. Location very convenient. There have lot of bus stops near by. If you want go to downtown travel, is convenience!

Room was decent enough - spacious, clean and amenities. Check in experience wasn’t great. 4pm check in is late and they charge extra for earlier check in. Location not the best for me, bit out of the central location.

I really enjoyed my stay! My 1 bedroom suite was cozy and clean. I had a great view of the city and the bed was super comfy! I loved having a laundry system and dishwasher in my suite which they provided soap for both! It’s located beside a grocery store and a starbucks which was so convenient. The only con was the super long walk from the front entrance to my actual floor, which also required two separate elevators to get to the Sonder suites. I would definitely stay at Sonder again granted the prices stay reasonable!

Stayed for a week. On entering, I noticed some hair on the floor of the bathroom and a water stain on the floor, which means it hadn't been mopped well. When we asked the front desk for assistance, they said that a cleaning and sheets change is an extra $80 charge. So we had to clean it ourselves. Would be perfect aside from that minor event. Safe area, quiet, and the bus route just outside takes you literally anywhere.

I've stayed at Sonder Liberty Village about 15 times over the course of the last 2 years. I travel to Toronto frequently for business. I've liked Sonder because of the seamless check in process, in room laundry facilities, and size of the space. However, the last few trips, I have noticed a significant decline in room cleanliness and maintenance. My last trip was shocking as it relates to cleanliness and hygiene and I will no longer be staying at Sonder. The first room I was assigned had a terrible smell inside, the balcony door was left wide open in the middle of winter (I assume to remove the smell) leaving the room 10C when I arrived and there was unflushed dirty toilet paper in the toilet bowl. I asked to move rooms and customer service accommodated my request. However, the second room was no better. The floors were all sticky from poor cleaning, there was also hair in the toilet bowl in this room that had not been flushed, and the bathroom floor were disgustingly dirty. The towel hook in the bathroom was coming off the door. I raised these issues with customer service and they sent someone to clean the bathroom floor, but did not bother to address the floors in the rest of the room or fix the towel hook. I found their lack of concern regarding hygiene standards disappointing. Given the importance of hygene in hotels, I would have expected Sonder to take these issues more seriously, but they did not.
