At the moment this place is rated 4.5 stars and it’s unbelievable why it’s that high. I eat at a lot of Vietnamese restaurants and this is one of the worst bowls of pho I’ve ever had. The broth is a bowl of salt and water, the portions are really really small, the place is dirty, and the hoisin sauce is severely water down for some reason. The best thing was the cold water they give you to wash down the super salty broth. I think what’s more upsetting was our obligation to finish the food due to the pho being $15 for the large. I don’t mind paying $15/$25/$35 for a good bowl of noodles, but this was not good at all. Trust me when I say it’s not worth torturing yourself with these noodles.

Considered one of the best if not the best Pho in town! Love the location and extensive menu. Went with 2 bowls of rare beef soup, classic chicken spring rolls and Vietnamese iced coffees! The Pho was fantastic and very quick! Sadly, the service was mediocre; felt like we were bothering the staff just by being there.

Best Vietnam pho ever, the soup is rich taste. We order the signature No.9 and it was great. They only accept cash and debit card and the parking is hard to find. Overall, it is worth a visit. Would like to recommend it to other friends

I used to frequent this place quite often before the pandemic, and my recent visit left me somewhat disappointed. My friends and I decided to dine here on a Sunday night around 8 pm, and to our surprise, there were plenty of available seats. We were seated inside, and the first thing that caught my attention was the worn-out, dated interior, which didn't set the best first impression. Upon sitting down, we noticed that our table, as well as the menus, were both sticky and in need of a good cleaning. Despite this, we ordered a variety of dishes, including pork chop on broken rice, bun bo hue, and sausage on vermicelli. The food arrived in a timely manner, but it was, unfortunately, quite mediocre and felt expensive for the portion sizes. The biggest letdown was the bun bo hue; the broth appeared and tasted overly diluted, with very few toppings. To salvage it, I had to request shrimp paste and hot sauce to give it some flavor, as it was otherwise quite bland. Another issue we encountered was the presence of a considerable number of flies inside the restaurant during our meal. They only accepted cash, a fact not advertised anywhere until we received the bill. They did have an ATM in the restaurant for convenience, but it came with a steep $4 fee for every transaction. All in all, it wasn't the dining experience I had hoped for, given my previous visits here.

I really enjoyed the Pho! The broth is clear and flavorful. I enjoyed the flavors. The noodles weren't overcooked either. They serve the soup with lots of the usual ingredients. The sizing is good and filling. I would have enjoyed more meat, though. I order rare beef and tendon. I ate the whole bowl. Couldn't stop. We also ordered the beef fresh rolls, and I've definitely had better elsewhere. 😋. My friends ordered the chicken pho. It's very tasty as well. I'd go back to try other dishes, for sure. It gets very busy on weekends and evenings. There is usually a wait.

Good phō for decent value! The noodles were well cooked and the broth had a great, clean flavour. The broth here is sweeter than the ones I usually get, but it’s purely a personal preference and still well done! Service was relatively fast despite the busy time, and overall a good experience! I’ve been here twice already (pictures include last time as well), and would definitely come again if I’m in the area and try some of their other things!

Hands down the best pho in all of Toronto! I got the House Special Beef Noodle Soup and it was so flavourful, rich and of course, delicious! The broth was super clear, light and authentic. It's hard to resist getting a large bowl when it's only $1 more than the medium. It was so worth it and very filling. Keep in mind that they only accept cash! ATM is on sight in case you need to withdraw.

Authentic Vietnamese taste. Very tasty broth and the texture of noodle is excellent. Beef is tender and tripe just cooked right in time. Waiters are polite and friendly. Remember to bring some cash because it's a cash only restaurant. And there's a ATM inside. I should give 5 stars to this restaurant, all because there's a guy (not the one shown in the photo), I think he is the relative of the owner, pretty grumpy and not good attitude to all customers.

An average pho restaurant. Portion was small for this price but taste was okay. Hot sauce and hoisin sauce in the bottle was watery just like diluted with water. Staff were nice and friendly. Located in a very busy area at dinner time. Really hard to find a parking spot nearby the restaurant.

Great little place! I’m sure that the high reviews are due to the meat /chicken dishes which are probably delicious! My friend and I had the vegetable spring rolls, vegetable fresh rolls, vegan pho, and vegetarian pad Thai. It was good! Not sure if I would go back for vegetarian Vietnamese food as the selection was limited.

The food was exceptional. We had the Beef Special Pho in small size. And the sugarcane appetizer. It was so good. I suggest that you should order their Vietnamese iced coffee. Perfect for the summer heat. Price range goes around $20-30.

A cold cold day always calls for viet comfort food. Got many recommendations for here and was in the area to give it a try Walked in and felt very authentic: cash only + ATM, stack of chopsticks and spoons at every table, tacky decor on point, write your own orders down. Their pho and bun bo hue are very flavorful. Top notch BBH in the city with all the fixings including blood cubes and piece of pork knuckle. Enjoyed every bit of it. Well spiced and hit on every point. Price point is still very welcoming, service was good. Would recommend and eat at again!

The pho here was amazing! I’m glad they use the thin rice noodle, I’ve noticed that a lot of the newer opened pho spots use a more medium/large size noodle but the thin one just hits different. The broth is very beefy and rich too. I enjoyed my meal here.

The are Michelin recognized for bib gourmand so you know the food is good and reasonably priced, and the pho does not disappoint. While a lot of places serve similar dishes, their broth is extra savoury and the pho has ample large chunks of beef. Definitely worth checking out when in the area. Just be warned though on sunny weekend days, the lineup can be quite long.

I was craving viet. Ordered their pork chop and rice, the pork chop was a little dry for my preference but great flavour. Still enjoyed my meal. I like their egg soda that was interesting. I’m definitely coming back next time for their other dishes. Straight forward good food. Their spring roll was delicious.

This a great spot for some very tasty viet food! The location is very convenient and close to the action of Trinity Bellwoods and near the Queen and Dundas streetcars. It is a cash only location so come prepared! They also have a nice patio during the summer out on Ossington. Definitely will come back to try other dishes!

Atmosphere: This is a really popular restaurant so it's pretty busy but it makes for a very vibrant atmosphere. Service: It was a little difficult getting the attention of the waiters but when we did, they were friendly and helpful. Presentation and Portions: The portions are really generous. It's also beautifully presented. Taste: It was tasty. Not the best that I've had in the city but it's definitely up there. The broths need some more flavour. Cost: Good value for your money! Other: I had leftovers and asked for a takeout container. A couple of them were dirty inside which concerned me a bit. Overall, I would recommend.

Overall it’s a good place The food is delicious. It’s more expensive than other Vietnamese restaurants but you get what you pay for. Fresh meet and herb. Convenient location.

If you want to have an atypical Vietnamese dish, bun rieu is very good here! Best to come at noon or earlier if you want to avoid waiting for a table. Outdoor seating also available. They say cash only on the signage but they let us pay credit still.

Best pho I’ve had, broth was delicious, light and comforting. Got the rare beef slices and beef brisket, both were high quality and tasted fresh. Iced Vietnamese coffee was very good as well.

Had really high expectations for this place from the reviews to articles about this place. Wasn’t really impressed to be honest. Both of our pho broths were merely tasteless, hoisin and Sriracha are extremely watered down. I put so much sauce in the pho I was practically drinking sriracha hoisin water. Average place. Shrimp wontons were decent but I wouldn’t say it’s the best Pho in town lol. Looks amazing, but doesn’t deliver with flavor. Sorry :(

Love this place! We got the house special pho, and it was incredibly flavourful. The service was quick and friendly, and the outdoor patio was nice too. I was disappointed that it was cash only, but that’s a small complaint considering the food was so good. I would definitely recommend this place for pho lovers!

Service on their patio is good. They're attentive and asked if we needed anything multiple times. Food always comes in decent time. Deep fried spring rolls are amazing

This is a nice location. It's not the best Pho I've ever had, but it's in a nice area. Be sure to bring cash. There is an ATM inside, but the fees suck.

Pho Tien Thanh, the Michelin-recommended hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese restaurant is the real. Fricking. Deal. Despite a line 10 people deep we were seated within 20 minutes. I was delighted to discover they serve Bún bò Huế served *with* authentic blood curd cubes and pork knuckle. My god, I was dancing in my seat from the deep flavours. Instantly became one of my favourite restaurants the moment I tasted their superbly brewed tea, delicious pennywort drink, and life-giving grilled beef in lolot leaf. I don't have a huge appetite and rarely clean my plate, but not a drop of broth remained - I couldn't forgive myself to let this flavor be wasted. 5000 stars, I would eat here every day of my life and die happy.

A cozy culinary haven in Toronto. Their rare beef pho is outstanding - perfectly seasoned, with tender beef, ideal for the city's chilly days. It's also gluten-free, catering to diverse dietary needs. Highly recommended for a warm, delicious meal.

My favourite place for pho in Toronto. This time I got a vermicelli dish and it did not disappoint! Lots of seating but when it gets busy you may be seated at a table with other people.

I love pho, forever! Incredible pho, sought after savoury beef broth 🤤 the waiter-suggested shrimp & grilled sugar-cane rolls were great too! Wonderful staff, humble friendly owner 🥳 thank you all, be well 😊 always.

Got the rare beef and beef ball pho and here’s my honest verdict: - Rare beef was below mid, I can taste the meat was unfrosted because they were all clumped up together in my bowl. A huge disappointment. - Broth tasted great but a little bit too much MSG to my liking - According to my friends, they jacked up the price of their dishes, a large bowl of pho is around $20 now (with tax and tips) - few years ago, it was $12 - they make their own hoisin sauce and that was honestly my favourite part of dinner. Must-try. It’s not too salty. I don’t like the interior of the restaurant, all the colours looked mismatched and it looks unwelcoming. How they made it to the Michelin recommended guide is beyond me. Spring rolls were piping hot and crispy and comparable to their competitors Golden Turtle. This is the app you want to order when you’re here. The papaya milkshake was also pretty good! Con: cash only but there’s an ATM at the front of the store.

Got recommended by my Vietnamese uncles and it tastes just like home. Amazing Pho, broth isn’t full of salt. I’d also recommend getting either the avocado or coconut smoothie alongside dinner.

Great no frills classic Viet food. The bone broth is insanely good and the assortment of different sides you can order either in a dish or on its own are much more varied than most other Toronto pho locations (try the sugar cane blended shrimp). The drinks are also a (very sweet) treat. One thing to note is that they only accept cash.

  • 5/5 Willy L. 2 years ago on Google
Toronto staple for Pho. The decor is iconic to its no frills service. Staff treats you like family and they have gone above and beyond in terms of accommodating. I have a severe nut allergy , and have no trouble eating here. Highly recommend.

It was a great dish with lots of flavour. I loved the vermicelli, it's topped with minced prawns, crab tomatoes, and pork blood in a soup. So flavourful and the bowl is huge!

Visited this spot to satisfy pho cravings 😋 looks a bit run down & some may have second thoughts upon arrival but def worth giving a try! The noodles were the perfect texture but felt like broth could’ve been a bit better - also pretty generous with the meat & toppings! Friendly service. Cash only. Parking along the street or public parking garages available

  • 5/5 Theresa C. 2 years ago on Google
Small no frills Vietnamese restaurant with the best Pho in the city. Good portions of beef and noodles. Flavourful broth that you want to slurp up entirely. And extra long spring rolls which translates to more crispy surface area. You’re getting great value for your money but don’t expect anything fancy.

  • 3/5 Don M. 2 years ago on Google
Beef Noodle Pho was good but after the meddled disaster for the cash out lineup I will be sticking to my favourite UFO over on Adelaide at Niagara. The cashout issue was 2 fold ... An older gentleman (owner?) cherry picking from the lineup who would go next despite sequence in line and half the folks in the line NOT MASKED.

Pho Tien Thanh, founded in 1995, is a Vietnamese restaurant that has gained a loyal following. I recently visited for the first time and was thoroughly impressed with the quality of their pho. The broth was incredibly clear, rich and flavorful, and I found myself savoring every sip. The restaurant itself was clean and well-maintained, with attentive and friendly staff. Of course you can’t miss their iconic I love pho forever, written on the wall. Just note that it’s cash only on the weekends!

So I found out about this place from a friend and went there to find out this place has been consistently placed on the Michelin list. So I ordered a large Pho Thap Cam (Pho with rare beef, well done lightly fat beef, chicken, tendon, tripe and beef ball) and Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio (Meet Ball with BBQ pork on vermicelli). Loved both the dishes. Some things to note: this is a cash only place and also there is usually a long line up for a seat.

Staff is very good with covid mandates and procedures. They were also very helpful with deciding what to order. The food was good as well. Would return here in the near future

  • 5/5 Kristie N. 2 years ago on Google
Cash only. There’s an atm available inside the restaurant if need be. They only take card for purchases above $20. Best pho in my opinion downtown. Patio seating currently available for COVID restrictions.

  • 5/5 Ryan M. 1 year ago on Google
Michelin recommended Pho right in our backyard? Yes, please. Great soup, great noodles, great service. Atmosphere is frenetic in the most fun, friendly way.

  • 1/5 Yoonie 8 months ago on Google
Just like 10$ worth pho and bun. Bun is worse than pho, because the bbq pork is too dry. This is cash only on weekend and they have ATM indoor, and it cost 3.5$ for withdrawing your money. Attitude also quite rude, workers seems tired af Overrated and overprice.

  • 3/5 Mark 7 months ago on Google
Great lowkey pho spot! Service was nice, dinned on the outdoor patio and everything was good! Biggest gripe was that there was no deep fried rolls option without pork, and the soup was a bit watery and lacked that pho punch.

  • 3/5 Hajar P. 8 months ago on Google
Food is great but: I think there is a safety issue with the cleaning product they use. The chemical they use to clean the tables smells so strong and smell like tiloet cleansers... also they keep these cleaning chemicals on the same table the put the prepared dishes on... Honestly, it's not safe. It was not clean. They could do much better. We wanted to split the cost, but at the cashier they said no, only accepted with cash.. so this is not convenient

  • 5/5 Daniela M. 1 year ago on Google
I’ve been going to Tien Thanh religiously for the past 7 years. At this point I’m convinced the only reason I continue to tolerate Toronto is because of this restaurant. They serve my favourite dish in the world, #89, lemongrass chicken with broken rice and they have been making it PERFECT for all these years. Everytime I go I struggle to pick what to order so I just get everything instead. Whether in the summer by the road or inside cuddled up in the middle of winter there is nothing like a bowl of phở from this place. The soup is warm and delicious with the right amount of noodles and ingredients. It’s always fresh. Service is fantastic. Typically there are super long lines (to be expected) so just be comfortable with shared seating, part of the charm of the restaurant. Cash only.

Michelin recommended in 2022 but i didn't have a pho there which might be why my review is skewed. The BBH and salad roll we had were pretty standard. I will aim to come back and have a pho again next time

  • 2/5 Wing C. 9 months ago on Google
I've been here many times 3-4 years ago. This place was famous for its delicious pho among my viet friends' parents. The auntie said it's not as good anymore but we wanted to try it out ourselves. First we wanted to sit outside and were seated right next to the street garbage bin. We smelled the garbage smell for a few minutes and decided that it's not something we can tolerate. Thankfully it wasn't too busy at 3pm so a server accommodated our request to switch to another table. We ordered a few things including pho and bun bo hue which I was very excited about. Unfortunately these things don't taste the same anymore. The bun bo hue is much better than the pho, but both weren't as flavourful as I remembered. There are many mid-tier restaurants that serve better pho than this place. It's not terrible but definitely not "the best pho in town" anymore.

  • 5/5 Kimberly W. 9 months ago on Google
My friends recommended this place. Looks like an average pho place (so not the prettiest) but very tasty pho. The broth had a lot of flavour and they actually gave lots of meat in a small size. The cost was also very reasonable - I thought they would make their prices higher once receiving Michelin recognition. I’d say service isn’t fantastic as once your food arrives it’s pretty hard to flag down a waiter. However, I’d say this pho place is worth it for the value as I’ve been to places that are a similar price point or cost more, but give less meat or the broth isn’t as flavourful. This place is also cash only so have cash on hand.

Great food, and a staple in the city. Staff is so friendly, and welcoming. Highly recommend to anyone

  • 5/5 Daniel S. 10 months ago on Google
2nd best pho in Toronto! To be fair, complaining on high level. Food is excellent, service perfect, however it’s pretty crowded and old restrooms. Gives more an Asian vibe. No card payment during wekeends hence 4.5 stars ⭐️ would always come back!

  • 3/5 Ben D. 11 months ago on Google
Cash only in weekend. Atm is conveniently in the restaurant with $4.5 fee. I did not see sign at front door as the door was left open. If i knew, i would go to other place. I travelled from Australia, wanted to try beef noodle soup in Toronto. Only have time to try one place but it's kind a disappoint. Should have tried pho Hung in China Town and save driving time.
