Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu Korean Restaurant

Restaurant Korean restaurant

😠 This place was a staple for me. For many years the spicy pork and squid dish was so delicious. Tender, fatty, tasty and spicy pork with squid, onions, and broccoli. I recently went back after the renovations and change in management. The tofu soup is fine but the spicy pork left a lot to be desired.... People often mention soup, spicy, tofu, rice, Korean, time, beef, pork, squid, great,

Great food, just a bit disappointing. I ordered a combination tofu stew, description said it contained mussels, shrimp, and beef. Sounds great— but it was very disappointing since there was 1 very small mussel, 1 tiny shrimp, and 3 very very VERY small pieces of beef. The rest was tofu. The taste was still delicious, but I was a bit frustrated that I didn’t really get what I expected. And $16 for a bowl of tofu isn’t really worth it in my opinion. The meat is what I’m paying for, and if there’s literally no meat, then that is very disappointing. The reason why it still gets 4 starts is because it was still really good. Taste wise, it had no problem. I was just very disappointed with my portion of meat. I hope they add more, but if it’s financial not possible, I’d consider raising the price by a couple of dollars to add what people ask for/buy. The ham, sausage tofu stew had much better portions of meat, probably bc ham and sausage are much cheaper. Still, please would love to get what I asked for next time. Unfortunately might not return here though.

This place was a staple for me. For many years the spicy pork and squid dish was so delicious. Tender, fatty, tasty and spicy pork with squid, onions, and broccoli. I recently went back after the renovations and change in management. The tofu soup is fine but the spicy pork left a lot to be desired. The pork was as tough as jerky, the sauce lacked flavor and balance. It was just spicy for the sake of being spicy. There was no squid, and no broccoli. I hope this place turns it around because I was so disappointed in my food that I had to come here and leave a bad review.

This Korean restaurant has been in business for so many years. They are able to maintain the great quality, especially the Soon Tofu. It tasted authentic and is definitely yummy. If you don't mind that the decorations are a bit worn, the food quality will make it up. The owner is kind and friendly. The hot stone rice is something rare that not every Korean restaurant would offer. Try it yourself and let me know how you think. I am sure you would agree with my rating.

OMG the pork bone soup here was AMAZING!!! Broth was super flavourful and tons and tons of meat that is fall off the bone tender. Fried chicken was also super delicious as was the dumplings. Next time I'm back, I will need to try their specialty which is the Soon Tofu!! Also the service was great ...super friendly and fast!!! Enjoy.

Love the soft tofu soups here. Despite limited menu, the dishes were delectable! The vegetarian soup is very tasty. Very authentic. The only strange part was eating the remaining rice stuck on the lava bowl mixed with warm water. Would love to come back again and again despite the spartan setting. They need to refresh the ambience and more Korean themed decor with music.

The sauce on the beef was incredibly tasty but also incredibly high in sodium. We each drank excessive and unusual amounts of water during our meal. Fried chicken was great and so was the spicy soup. Server was super engaging and had lots of smiles to share. The two servers were working hard to manage a busy Saturday night and did a great job.

Traditionally family-owned K-restaurant with delicious hot stone pot rice. Soup is flavorful and rice is cooked well with both soft and crispy layers, perfect for winter days. The people there are friendly and nice. It's well worth the price. The road is under construction so it might be easy to pass by.

Truly one of the best places to go for some authentic Korean cuisine. The staff are super friendly and very helpful, never hesitating to offer assistance. The atmosphere is very cozy and makes you feel right at home. The food? Absolutely amazing. Ordered the beef bulgogi soup with hot stone pot rice, and it was heavenly. The beef wasn't too tough or chewy, and it held a lot of flavour and the rice was honestly good enough to eat on it's own, but definitely tasted better with the soup. The soup itself is a little bit on the sweeter side, so if you're looking for something spicy I would suggest the Combination soup. I strongly recommend visiting here, you won't regret it at all.

Best tofu stew! Everything was so well prepared and it felt like a nice home cooked meal. The soup was piping hot and very flavourful. I love the fact that they serve the crispy bits of leftover rice in its hot pot with a bit of water!

Wonderful experience here! This was the first time I was trying it and I really liked my experience here! The soup was hot and it came with lots of sides! The server was really nice and kept refilling our waters. There is a decent amount of seating and for price, I would say it was pretty affordable! Great time here overall

Ordered a squid and pork dish and there was only one piece of squid. Talked to the server, they took it back and brought us a new one with 6 pieces. Appreciate the willingness to listen to customers, but food needs better description. If squid is becoming too much then reflect it in the price or remove the ingredient completely. I ordered squid I want squid.

Delicious meals in a quant location. The service is up-to-par, wait times are decent, and food comes out hot and ready to eat. Flavorful food profiles and a low-key experience make this place a great go-to for a lunch or dinner out at a local Korean chain.

Nothing beats a bowl of comforting tofu soup or rice dish! You can choose your spice level. So happy that they now have the noodle option! Friendly servers, the owner (I assume) checked on tables to see if we were all ok. This time, we had to ask for tea twice, but that's not the norm. The restaurant faces Hwy 10, but there's lots of parking in the side and back of the plaza.

Ordered for pickup and the 2 different soon tofu soup we ordered were both tasty! I loved that you can choose spicy level. The small side dishes that came with the soup were also nice!

Amazing Korean spot!! I always get the bibimbap and it is really delicious every time. The crispy rice at the bottom of the dolsot is the best part and the side dishes are very good. Great service from this family owned business. Highly recommend

I grew up eating the soon tofu here and it's nice to revisit yesterday. This homefood and location NEVER disappoints and the amazing quality of food you get here is one word, underpriced. THANK YOU to the staff here and see you again soon!

Buk Chang Dong is still the chapel for Korean spicy tofu stew in the city. It's dotted all over the city, with a popular following. My better half for one couldn't resist going when we lived closer. While roaming through Mississauga, we were enthused by the idea of lunch there for the first time in a long time. The menu is simple: a small selection of Korean spicy tofu stews along with dishes like Bibimbap that pale in comparison. We always order #1 & #3. Soon Tofu with beef /mussel / shrimp for me; kimchi / beef / pork for her. A while after, boiling red cauldrons loaded with silky tofu arrive from the kitchen. Then crack a raw egg on top. Soup broth was well-balanced with rich savoury seasoning plus spicy heat. It was a bit strange that we were consistently served after though we were the first patrons. It was empty when we arrived but tables next to us were assigned shortly after. Some of the dine-in policies were quite lax when we visited during pandemic dining.

Called ahead to make sure I get a table and they reserved a table by the window! The menu is very easy to read and the service was extremely friendly and sweet. I ordered the soy garlic fried chicken and the tofu kimichi beef hot stone soup with (I believe black bean?) rice in a hot stone bowl, it was very tasty! Make sure to avoid having the rice burn to the bottom like I did. The soup came with an egg, make sure to crack it into the broth! I definitely want to come again. I left completely satisfied!

love their spicy kimci soup (it comes with some pieces of pork, i guess). Hot and spicy (u can choose your spicy level - this is a thumb up). The set also comes with four small plates of korean dishes and a bowl of mixed rice. The only thing that i don't like is they put hot water into the bowl to "cook" the rest of rice. Also a bit pricy. There is also come with a raw small egg. So that u can add it into your super hot soup. Pretty fun. Owner and staffs are friendly, there is a parking lot beside.
