I have been buying stuff regularly from Peoples for past few years but this time their service was very pathetic. For the 1st time i went to return something, actually i wanted to upgrade it to get something better but the lady there treated me like i am a beggar and she was very rude. I cant believe such a big brand has such a poor customer Service. So what if i want to return something, i have paid for it and i want my money back, if you guys have problems then change ur return policy.

I came here with a friend to look for my wedding band. After checking out some other stores to see what rings are available, we came back to take a closer look at the rings I was interested in. Rita, the associate that helped us the first time, made us wait for 15min while she was helping another couple. That was understandable as she was tending to them first. But what was NOT acceptable was when it was finally my turn and I inquired about the ring warranty, instead of providing the information I was looking for, she kicked us out by saying she had other customers waiting for her. We waited so long for her and she couldn't even spend a few minutes with us. Rita was very rude and what was supposed to be a happy and joyous experience had turned into an unpleasant ordeal where I felt very unwelcome. I ended up buying my wedding ring at a competitor store instead.

We had a terrible experience at the Yorkdale location when buying a wedding band for my fiance. The lady that helped us select a ring was aware that we would need the ring in 3 weeks as our wedding was a month away. Knowing this information she reassured us that the wedding band would arrive in time. Weeks after placing our order we called to find out when we could pick up the ring and on each occasion a different sales person mentioned that the ring wouldn't arrive on time and usually the process takes 8+ weeks. We were very frustrated with the poor customer service and no coordination in the information we were provided. Fortunately we received the ring in time but the engravings we requested for the inside of the band was completely missed. We will no longer be shopping at Peoples! Very poor service. If you're shopping around, Birks at the Yorkdale location was really great in helping with my wedding band.

this place does not even deserve one star. my fiancee and i decided to go in to look at earings, after being in the store for a good ten mins, nobody addressed us or asked if we needed help. eventually this older white lady came by and showed us the options they had. she then went to my fiancee and asked if she could see her ring. when she brought her hand up the lady grabbed her hand then grabbed the ring very aggressively as if she was trying to squish it, she proceeded to touch and put her fingerprints all over her ring. we found this behaviour very appalling and unprofessional, especially for someone who works at a jewelry store. diamonds should be handled with gloves or tweezers/prongs- not touched all over by dirty finger tips. we left feeling violated and upset and definitely did not purchase anything. the employees here need to ask for permission to touch someone beforehand & get consent first which you would assume is common sense but apparently not. she only asked to SEE it. nonetheless very bad service and will not ever step foot into a peoples store again.

Dont go there for buying jewellery beacuse they will start making excuses to get more money from you when you go there for picking up your product after resizing, very bad experience

My boyfriend bought quite an expensive gold bracelet from here a few months ago. Firstly, his bracelet clasp broke and we had to bring it in to be repaired. The woman helping us was lost but we finally got through the repair forms and she said it would be ready for pick up in 3-4 weeks and my boyfriend would be contacted when it was ready. 6 weeks go by and no phone call so he called in to ask if it was ready and behold, it was ready a solid 2 weeks after we first brought it in. He also asked for two links to be taken off and they didn’t do that either. So we went back to get the links taken off and the worker puts it all through very promptly. Sounds good so far... but this is what absolutely made my blood boil. She tells us we had to pay for it and I said no we have the warrenty, and then she has the nerve to say “you didn’t tell me that...”. I find this absolutely baffling. The people here have the nerve to push the warrenty purchase on an already several hundred dollar purchase then not even ask if we have the warrenty when we are coming back to try and fix the mistake they made in the first place. This place is joke go somewhere else.

Literally the WORST customer service you will experience in your life. Maria - JEEZ GOOD LUCK WITH HER! She is condescending and will lie through her teeth, but when you decide to speak with a manager regarding her verbal abuse, she runs toward you and interrupts your convo with the store manager. The store manager Zelda - much more soft spoken and friendly on the forefront, but still seems to be clueless to the actual function of her store as well as the key steps to successful customer service. She does not know her store is rated at a 1.9 stars on google, as I asked when they literally argued with me about having the "best customer service in canada" lmao. The store has NEVER once called me back when they said they would. They took my ring in June - my engagement party was at the end of August and I said please do not send my ring anywhere (there was a scratch on the diamond apparently) without my consent as I want my ring for my engagement party and can deal with the issue later. What happened? They sent the ring anyway and constantly "assured" me it would be back in time. Was it? Obviously not - I had to use a loaner that they still didnt guarantee me until the night before the party. Honestly... this place is a disaster and is running because of their longevity and marketing. They have a certain monopoly on the canadian diamond industry - so they know theyre fine regardless of service. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!! There are GREAT smaller diamond stores and Custom Jewellers that will HAND make (not use wax molds like Peoples) your ring, at a better cost - but most importantly, with peace of mind. Feel free to reach out to me if you need recommendations. Lets not continue to fund these slave shops.

Made you look is literally the best jewelry shop in Toronto and I’d highly recommend coming here! I’ve been a customer for over 5 years and they are always the best. Went in to get matching permanent bracelets with my partner and we were running late to our appointment due to Toronto traffic but they were super understanding and accommodating about it! Unfortunately when we got home my partner's bracelet broke through no fault of his OR the clerk who put it on him - one of the surrounding chain links snapped off, not the link where it was welded together! When we called the store they were again super accommodating and lovely, apologizing and booking us in first thing the next day to fix it for free. Had no issues with the chain since, they both are holding strong and look amazing! The person who welded our bracelets talked us through the whole process. The store is so gorgeous and aesthetically pleasing, and everyone who worked there was so friendly and welcoming. I purchased a BEAUTIFUL necklace by the artist Dianne Rodger - each jewelry display has information on the artist who made the pieces. The woman who helped me provided amazing assistance, showing me how the necklace hung perfectly on me but if I didn't like it they could adjust the chain. She also provided me with the full wrapping, gift bag, and brochures for the artist and store, even though I wore the necklace out (because I loved it so much). In conclusion, you can come for the beautiful jewellery, supporting local artists, but the incredible staff and overall vibe will also win you over. I 100% recommend this place!

Awful customer service

I was really excited to find a great engagement ring at this store and unfortunately the staff member I worked with just kind of killed the experience of ring shopping for me. I had looked online, thought a vintage / deco black diamond would be beautiful and when I went in was repeatedly made to feel dumb for even asking. The first thing I was told was "obviously you don't know what we do if you think you're getting a used ring here" because I said I wanted vintage. So I clarified vintage inspired. I showed the associate photos I had seen on the company's instagram and she said all of those were custom and not for sale. I could choose from what they had on hand. I guess to begin I thought I had been very careful checking to see if those pieces were custom made, since they are very unique looking compared to other engagement rings. I still don't see anything on the website's page for vintage / deco rings that says everything displayed is made to order, but maybe I'm missing something obvious. I just think eye rolls and generally a woman huffing and sounding exhausted to be dealing with me was not the right way to handle it. Ultimately, we didn't have enough time to wait on a custom ring. The pieces they do have made look really beautiful but I couldn't tell based on what was in store and didn't feel comfortable spending time trying to work with the store because of the associate I dealt with.

Dear The Internet Jil Maddin at Made You Look is the greatest thing to ever happen in the Jewelry industry AND THAT'S HOW YOU START A REVIEW LETS DO THIS!!! My fiance and I are both of Indian descent and have some gold that has been passed down through our family but not in a 'rich people' way, in a sentimental "small necklaces and bangles, passed down through the family" sort of way. My goal was to make a meaningful and creative engagement ring by melting our family golds together a la Lord of the Rings. A friend of mine suggested Made You Look on Queen West in Toronto, and it was here that I met Lord Jilian "Sauron" Maddin who was destined to forge my one ring to rule them all. I've literally never had a more positive experience in ANY of my experiences in any service industry and I am NOT overstating. From the moment we met, Jil listened to every word of my ambitious project and reciprocated with positive and professional feedback. She was patient and CRAZY understanding of my budget which could only be described as "Sit down, be Humble". In fact Jil and I energized each other! The whole process was a fun back and forth of texts, IG tags, design refs, gem styles and obscure references for palette and sparkle! I'm pretty sure at one point I tagged her in a Lady Gaga award show outfit and she still somehow knew what I meant as a reference (side note: the ring we made is not meat). Jil's knowledge and passion for her work is completely outstanding. As she explained, the process starts with selecting stones. We both allowed this to take the time that it needed. Jil is well-versed, connected and well-liked in her community. She has access to the whole country... continent? world? 's pickings of stones. She's basically Thanos. She would say to me "D, I'm going to Vermont next week, might come back with a delicious chocolate diamond for us, stay tuned". Umm okay, easy Lil' Wayne. But it was worth it. And forget just having access to stones - we synced up in our quest for the right ones. I simply couldn't pull a trigger on a stone until I could tell that Jil was as excited to make the ring as my fiance would be to receive it. I feel like this is a good time to sidebar and tell you that if you're the type that just wants to walk in and point at a ring and then buy it - Jil's selection at Made You Look is dope for that too. Okay but if you ARE a nerd for sentiment, can I tell you about "the stories"? I'm a filmmaker. So I went in with the obscure idea of telling "3 stories" on the ring. No, I'm not pretentious, YOU'RE pretentious. The idea actually came from seeing Jil's previous work at Made You Look. Her unique style allows for 3 'looks' on one ring. You heard me. It's insane and you should stop reading this right now and go to her instagram @maddinjewellery and look at all of them and then never come back to reading this because you get lost scrolling back in her profile forever. No one will judge you. Jil took my vision and expressed it in ring form. She did 3 champagne diamond baguettes on one side, a brilliant white sapphire in the middle and a chocolate diamond on the other side, book-ended by 2 small colourless diamonds. All embedded elegantly into 2 golds melted together: gold from my mother, and gold from my fiance's mother. She even sourced the best Toronto engraver and etched a design in the band. The design is an exact replica of one of my fiance's grandmother's bangles. I KNOW! Kleenex much?! So in conclusion, The Internet... Maybe you're googling or reading reviews because there's a lovely person that you want to spend the rest of your life with. And you want to show them that by giving them a piece of jewelry that they'll wear forever. F-O-R-E-V-E-R. It's literally all of the rest of the time you and this person will have together. So good job reading up on where to get a ring and getting this far in my review. Start forever off on a good note. Go to Made You Look and get Jil Maddin to write the "once upon a time" in your story.

DO NOT buy their diamond bond "insurance". Get your own separate jewellery insurance policy (it will cost significantly less annually than Peoples $100 "insurance") or shop around if your piece ends up needing repairs. I bought my wedding band from them in spring 2016, which I obviously didn't wear until my wedding - September 2016. By spring 2017, my wedding band had lost a diamond. I took my ring to the Yorkdale store, they took it and got it fixed no questions asked. Feb 2018, the EXACT SAME STONE they fixed LESS THAN A YEAR ago has once again fallen out. I took it to the store -- they won't accept it for repair because I didn't come in for inspections every 6 months. Lucky me, I lost my inspection sheet, so they didn't care to fix it or stand behind their repair work. They said it would be $200 to fix and take 4-6 weeks. I filed a claim through our personal jewellery insurance policy with Jewellers Mutual and took my ring to a family-owned jeweller on Avenue Road to get fixed. They charged $35 and fixed it in a week. They couldn't believe that Peoples wanted $200 to fix their own product. Peoples doesn't stand behind the quality of their products, which is why they even require inspections every 6 months after you've paid $100 to protect your piece. And at the very least any repairs should be under warranty too. But no, they'd rather have pissed off customers and pocket the "insurance" you paid for. So lesson learned, get yourself a REAL jewellery insurance policy and DO NOT trust Peoples diamond bond "insurance", their repair costs or their repair work. They don't even trust it.

I went there this afternoon for my diamond inspection and there is a Korean women JULIE!!!!!!!! serve a man and she says hello and tell me to wait a little for her. She is the woman I brought my necklace from her. I wait at least half an hour which is ok but the unacceptable is when she finishes serve her customer and I bring my paper of diamond inspection, she just ignored me and says hello to the person behind me. When she cannot ignore me and she tells me to go to another table and wait for her. When she finally can serve me and she suddenly ask a couple about do they come first or me which I feel this is really rude and she obviously doesn't want to serve me because I won’t purchase anything and she want to serve someone who is ready to purchase. When she is doing the inspection, she is really rude to my necklace and just throw me back the paper. She doesn’t even check it just clean it and took her not even one minute. I can tell she is rush to serve other people. She shows different attitude to different customers. I brought most of my jewellery in that store and won’t purchase anything from her again.

Avoid this place unless you can get Sean to help you. Had a great experience with Sean picking out and purchasing our wedding bands. Then I had an incredibly rude woman when I went to pick them up. She blamed me when she looked in the wrong drawer for them. When neither ring fit me, she told me I had ordered wrong, which was odd since Sean had gone through it in detail and they were definitely ordered properly. She kept avoiding answering any questions, and demanding I sign a paper and take the rings, or else she would return them. She refused to do anything to help me and just kept telling me to sign and take them. While this was happening, I was overhearing another group of people being treated rudely by another woman when they were trying to pick up. I nearly returned the rings on the spot simply because the customer service was so bad. The only reason this isn't a one star review is because of Sean's initial help.

My husband bought me a ring from here a couple of days ago for Christmas. When he went in the store and was looking around he told the lady his budget and she found the perfect piece for me. As my husband was going to pay with his debit card he noticed the 0 interest sign on the counter. My husband inquired about this considering it is the holiday season and the lady looked lost. My husband asked if he could call customer service to fill out the application and the lady seemed hesitant. She said yes I believe so and he called and we were approved. Another lady working behind the counter gave the lady who was helping my husband a dirty look and came by and removed the sign. I feel as if my husband wasn't sure he was going to buy it or wasn't going to pay with debit they would have pushed for this 0 interest but because he knew what he wanted and was going to buy something right away and pay for it in full they were hesitant. I just want to say my ring is stunning and the customer service is s***.

One of the people working here called Gina who has a short temper and not assisting you when you are here for an after purchase service! But instead she leaves you for another costumer who is here to purchase! So I guess once you buy something she gets her commission and does not care anymore!

I broke my jade bracelet in three spots and wanted a secure and sturdy way to repair it while also adding to the overall look. Made You Look connected me with Peter van Walraven, a goldsmith who works with them. He was not only able to fix my bracelet, he also added so much beauty to it as well. I had him incorporate a skeleton flower motif to the gold cuffs that reinforced the breaks. Needless to say, he delivered and the craftsmanship is amazing. These photos don't do the floral design justice. I know exactly who and where to go if I ever need any kind of jewelry repair, custom or otherwise, done in the future.

Great experience! Andrea and the Made You Look team made sure I was happy and satisfied with my ring. It wasn't how I envisioned it at first, but they took the time to change it and completely blew me away with their professionalism and commitment to customer satisfaction. 10/10, will be coming back again!

Highly recommend! Had an appointment booked for permanent bracelets, during the moment we stepped through the doors the staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. We ended up going with 14k solid gold in the bracelet design of our choice and we absolutely love how it turned out. Planning to come back in the near future!

I've been into this shop 3 times. I am graduating from a nurse practitioner program and I was planning on buying myself a ring as a gift. The first time I entered was about 1.5 years ago to just take a look at what was out there and try on a few rings, my budget is $5K. The person who helped me was wonderful. The second time a few months after that, there was someone who saw I was curious in rings and did not offer to help me. That person actually helped someone who came in after me, then when they left she continued to clean the cases before she asked me if I needed help. It wasn't a horrible interaction after I was already ignored and treated as invisible so I forgot about it. Fast forward to now. There is a sign on the locked door of the shop that says if you don't have a mask please see the front desk upon entering. I am standing there trying to get in and the same person from my second interaction is there helping someone and does not allow me in, I ring the doorbell and they immediately say "do you have a mask?" I said no, I was completely flustered by her rude tone to me immediately. I didn't even point out the sign. I was then lectured on how I had to bring my own mask and it would be required by retailers soon but there are only a few set aside or something like that and she reluctantly gave me one. I completely understand wearing a mask, but I didn't have my own. I am a nurse and I have to wear a mask 35-50 hours a week, so I don't usually wear one in the open air, but I understand when retailers want me to. It didn't make sense to me she said that because the sign says see the front desk if you don't have one. My issue isn't even the mask thing - its how I was treated. I only made a purchase on this day because there was a particular piece I wanted as a gift for someone and I've had my eye on it for a while. I really should have walked out and taken my money elsewhere. It was only a small purchase but I would have rather spent it in good spirits. There were a few other pieces that I was intending on purchasing for the same gift but now I'll look elsewhere. I follow many of the jewelers/goldsmiths that sell out of Made You Look and was still intent on making a large purchase as a graduation gift to myself but I really want to avoid a third interaction with this person that made me feel like I was nothing. The person who helped me checkout was nice enough but I was literally still feeling extremely embarrassed by the woman who answered the door. I barely walked 4 feet into the store. Lots of businesses and restaurants in Parkdale definitely have a hipster I'm better than you vibe towards people of colour while pretending to be progressive or strongholds in the community, and this one is no different.

Went there to look for a ring for my girlfriend, browsed for a 15 minutes without anybody approaching me if I needed help. The staff just made me feel unwelcome eventhough I was planning on buying a ring that day. I didn't end up getting any help so I left and went to another jeweler.

I agree with all these people. The women who work here are lousy. They need to fire the entire staff. I was in here last week and I felt like she was jealous of what I bought. Even if these are robots in a parallel universe they can do better than that. As for class discrimination well, these salespeople who think they're "wealthy" in these malls don't impress me. True class has not been around since the 1950's. I don't care who's insulted.

I thought she was going to help me but she looked at me in an inappropriate manner and attended to another customer who literally just came. Been there thrice and was always disappointed. Absolute worst staff

My partner and I went into Made you Look last weekend to look at engagement rings together. I have been following the shop on social media for a while and was drawn to the welcoming atmosphere and the chance to check out multiple different artists. Peter was the one helping us at the counter and he was 10/10! He knew his geology and gemology so well and shared info with us that added to our experience rather than overwhelmed us! We were able to try many different styles on and didn't feel rushed at all. This was our first experience looking at rings and it was such a positive experience. We will end up designing my ring with one of the very talented artists. Thanks for being so wonderful, can't wait to collaborate with your team! - Alex&Ben

Cannot say enough good things about this place. It's a beautiful space & the quality of product & service are both excellent. I recently purchased a beautiful necklace but wanted the chain switched out for a finer one. Although that task proved difficult, the staff - Kate in particular - could not have been more accommodating or helpful. I got exactly what I wanted and was so impressed with their in-house services & overall customer service. A great experience from start to finish & a high recommend!

My husband and I had our wedding rings custom made 5 years ago by Kathryn. The rings are such good quality and designed really well. I recently had another ring remade by Kathryn and she is such a pleasure to work with. She listens to all my requests and followed up every step of the way. I find the pricing really reasonable. I could not be happier with the workmanship and will definitely be going back in the future! The staff at the store as very friendly and helpful as well. Would highly recommend!

Sarah, the owner of Made You Look, is an angel on this earth. The care and compassion she showed me still brings tears to my eyes. I had just come home from the hospital after delivering my beautiful baby boy. After months of swollen fingers and not being able to wear my wedding rings, I thought I might try them on again — a decision I immediately regretted. My finger was turning purple, I couldn’t get the rings off. As I sat in emergency with a 3hr+ wait ahead of me, with my husband and 5 day-old baby in the car, I made a desperate call to Made You Look. The store was closed, but Sarah picked up. Through tears I explained my situation and Sarah told me to come on in. She warmly welcomed me and made me feel safe in my vulnerable state. Then she carefully removed my rings. On my way out she gave me the best hug, which I so badly needed. In a few months I’ll go back to have my rings repaired and resized. I know they are going to show the same level of care. Couldn’t be more grateful for this iconic Toronto institution and the community Sarah has created. Thank you, Sarah. Grateful for you.

I recently purchased my wedding band at Made You Look and I couldn't be happier with the ring or my experience. I had a wonderful conversation with two of the sales reps who were extremely friendly, helpful and insightful. I had (or thought I had) a clear idea of what I wanted when I went in, and was shown a wonderful selection of options. However, the sales rep then began showing me numerous other design ideas, and the work of some of the local jewellers and artisans. I fell in love with the work of Melanie Leblanc and purchased an absolutely stunning, one-of-a-kind white gold band. Absolutely in love, and would recommend to anyone! Thank you!

I recently brought in two bracelets for repair and I'm very happy with the results. The charm broke off the gold piece and needed to be soldered back on. The green and silver piece needed more love, including replacing missing a stone and shortening the length. I asked for an affordable and durable option for the replacement and the goldsmith recommended a beautiful Green Onyx. Many thanks to the team who consulted on the repairs and sent me frequent updates. They were very responsive and made me feel comfortable asking questions. I felt like I was in good hands the moment I dropped off my jewellery. Highly recommended this shop for custom jewellery repairs and thoughtful service. Support local businesses!

I love this place! After looking for a black pearl necklace all over Toronto. I went into Made you look and found one for 390 which was a bit out of my price range. One of the employees said they can make me one that would be more affordable. They promptly sent me pictures with different pearls and made a beautiful necklace and shipped it to me so quickly. Incredibly happy with the service and would recommend Made You Look to anyone.

Great far-from-home stopping experience! We texted back and forth while they sent pictures of pieces I might like. We got closer and closer and finally found the perfect one! They mailed it out and I paid online. Great experience! I highly recommend.

Brought in the opal ring I received for my 18th birthday from my parents to have fixed for my niece. It had a small chip so they ordered a new stone and replaced. Couldn't be happier with their work and service. I have a few other heirlooms I will be bringing there for updates. Thank you!

I have bought a lot of jewellery from MYL over the years, but my most recent experience was buying a stone from a gem dealer in february, then having Nadia Werchola set it into a ring for me. The process was great, I was able to have it made exactly as I wanted it, and it is definitely the most beautiful thing that I own. I love coming here, and recommend it for not only custom jewellery, but also for the beautiful things they sell ready made.

My boyfriend and I visited this beautiful store in search of an engagement ring. I visited many big retailers and jewelers in the GTA, I couldn't find what I was looking for and I wasn't happy with the service.. until I stepped into Made You Look! From the first interaction on the phone to choosing a ring in the store, we have been so impressed with the staff's professionalism, the unique jewelry and their affordable prices. The process of finding the perfect ring can be overwhelming and stressful especially during Covid, we didn't know what to expect. However, the staff put our mind at ease by answering questions and they did so much to make ensure the safety of not only their staff but their customers too. We wanted to support the work of local artists and we were impressed with the work of Liane Vaz. We are currently in the process of having a ring made by her and we couldn't be more happier! Deborah at Made you look designed the most beautiful and unique custom engagement ring for me and I remain very happy with it several years later. My husband ordered a two toned band from one of the business's suppliers and it wasn't holding up well after a few years. Deborah did all the legwork with that supplier and they made it right and exchanged his ring. I highly recommend Made you look and Deborah.

i would say Made You Look is a hidden gem but they’ve been around for years.. if you haven’t stopped by, I highly recommend you do. This place is incredible. The staff is super friendly, down to earth and extremely helpful. They helped create my custom engagement ring and really made his vision come to life! I had to get the ring re-sized and they were able to do it within 2 days ... (usually would take 2 weeks). The way they embody a high level of professionalism is impressive !!! Will definitely be coming back to design my wedding band !!

Can't say enough good things about this place. I was supposed to get married this July and was looking to place an order in March. Despite all the uncertainty with Covid-19, Made You Look remained incredibly responsive and helped ensure a seamless process for me to get my wedding band. Even though the physical store was closed, local designer, Jon Pollack, was able to craft the perfect wedding band for me from his home studio using his last piece of rose gold. I just picked up the ring last weekend and was so impressed. The quality was impeccable, and it was clear how much time, thought, care and effort Jon put into creating the ring. If you're looking for something unique and want to support talented local designers like Jon, this is the place to go!

Knowledgeable and very friendly staff. They upsized and inscribed two silver rings I made myself in a jewelry class while on vacation. The rings had an etched pattern around the rings which made it trickier and required a visible seam to upsize but the way they did it was really sharp... They made it look like the rings were designed that way. Very impressed!

Can I just live here?! This place is absolutely amazing with equally amazing staff. The jewelry is to die for - and seriously will drive 4 hours (from Sudbury) for all my future needs and desires. My partner and I visited a month ago looking for wedding bands and was slightly overwhelmed with the unbelievable selection. Thanks to Nadia, we were able to keep my head on and narrow it down to a few pieces. After reviewing the “final draft” photos I took, we felt like we’ve come to a decision and went back just yesterday. I was a little nervous when I didn’t see Nadia off the hop, but no need, everyone is beyond knowledgeable and kind! Michelle was a gem herself and again, so helpful! Never rushed, really went over every little detail to make sure we are beyond comfortable and confident with our new additions. As someone who usually is treated with (Julia Roberts in) Pretty Women Syndrome, it was super refreshing to be treated as a person with purpose. EVERYONE, seriously every human we encountered in MYL is kind, talented, smart, and honestly, straight up cooooool. Though we didn't end up purchasing our wedding bands from Made You Look, I would still highly recommend them. I contacted them simply to see if we could get professionally sized. They were responsive, super kind, and invited us into the store just to get inspiration. Sarah was very knowledgeable, taught us a lot about rings, and though I originally expected everything to be out of our budget, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they have options for almost any budget. I have to add that hearing local artists clinging and clanging as they make their custom creations on site was such a nice touch! I loved everything about this store and hope I can come back for something in the future!

I worked with Ulrich Dehez to design my wedding band in 2017. The band is beautiful and well made. Uli was easy to work with and communicate with throughout the process. Further, I recently had an issue with my band, and upon contacting Uli, he was prompt in responding and addressed my concerns. I had the privilege of working with Tessa, at Made You Look, to take a family heirloom ring and do a complete redesign. Tessa and I met by chance, in the shop, as she showed me around the ring showcases. I was immediately struck by her warmth and creativity. She had a keen eye for detail and pulled pieces she knew were aligned with the piece I was hoping to create. It was then I asked her if she could create the piece for me. This began a wonderful partnership and collaboration where we went back and forth on design and sentiment. Tessa was so wonderful at communicating throughout the process, sending me CAD mock-ups, taking each note I gave, and reworking the ring to be even better than I could’ve imagined. The final design is pure perfection and the process was equally as perfect. If you’re looking for an amazing designer at Made You Look, don’t hesitate to reach out to Tessa! I was recommended to the store by a friend when I was looking to commission a piece of jewellery for a friend. I messaged the store and someone responded back within a day or so. I told her what I was looking for and was connected to a Jewelry Artist, Liane Vaz, who could make what I require immediately. An email introduced us to each other and the back and forth after with photos and what I require commenced for a few days. Liane was able to conceptualized and create the necklace exactly as I had envisioned. The price was reasonable and the work exceptional! Would definitely commission another piece through Liane again without question.

After the passing of my senior pup, I started looking around for a vial necklace to hold his ashes. I wasn't a fan of the mass produced items available online (mostly pieces that gave me Cruel Intentions vibes) so I began my search for custom jewelry designers -- I wasn't even sure if something like this were possible. I reached out to MYL and they promptly connected me to Peter Van Walraven. He was a DREAM to work with; patient, kind, knowledgeable, and talented! From the initial email to picking up the necklace from the shop took about 3 months -- I was in no immediate rush and I felt like the workaround time for a custom vial pendant paired with a global pandemic was a reasonable amount of time. I did not have a specific image in mind; all I knew was I wanted the following elements: an emerald for the birth month, white for his coat, and black and tan for his collar. Peter's designs and material choices with these elements in mind were stunning! Thank you so much! I absolutely love the piece and I'm so happy to be able to have a something to commemorate Joey.

Such an amazing store! Everyone I talked to was so helpful while I was trying to pick out an engagement ring (and learn about rings on the fly too!). I ended up working with Emily Gill to custom design the ring, she was absolutely amazing to work with and me and my Fiancée both love the ring so much! Such a great experience to go through the design process with Emily, from picking out the right diamond to customizing the 3D models to have the ring just right - it’s perfect!

Been a few times over the years and recently went in to get a quote for a custom piece from a designer who was available on site. They are honest, informative and passionate about their work. I love Made You Look! I've had custom made jewellery (a pair of earrings in 2015 and, more recently, my engagement ring) done from two different artists and both times were great experiences. Emily Gill did my ring and it's incredible. The pieces on the shelves also have a wide range of personality and style made by local artists who care about their craft and clients. Most definitely worth the trip out to Parkdale.

The store is a very nice space filled with beautiful jewelry at a variety of price points. Me and my partner went there to shop for wedding bands, and we had a terrible experience. My ring size is 12, which is slightly larger than average for men. The ring in the display case that caught my eye was 5mm wide, and I thought it might look a bit thin on my hand. I asked for a size 12, 5mm ring--any ring of any material--to try on to see if 5mm was going to look too thin in general. The kit they have for just this purpose only went up to size 11. The staff member, who I assume was embarrassed by this, proceeded to explain to me in excruciating detail all the reasons why it was unreasonable for me to expect that any of the hundreds of rings in the store would be a size 12--they literally only had two size 12 rings, both 7mm. I really did not expect to be fat shamed for having hands that are barely larger than average, but here we are. Nearly everybody in Canada buys a wedding band at one point or another. It's bad enough not to have a sample kit that covers two standard deviations from the mean (size 4-16), but when you literally *make rings on the premises* it's inexcusable. Please, rise to the level of your peers at FTJco and provide sample rings in various widths for 95% of people, not 68%

Of the three Queen West jewelry shops I contacted for a quote to repair the chain of a gold bracelet, MYL came back with the most reasonable price. When I brought in the chain, they actually said it would be $10 less than their quote! They said it would take a week to repair, but they contacted me two or three days later saying it was ready. If that wasn’t all amazing, I also brought in a lovely gold necklace that was pretty tangled, and they untangled it free of charge. Truly a 5 star customer experience - I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to. Thanks for great service! Highly recommend Made You Look.

I got a few bracelets and earrings repaired as well as a ring resized a few weeks ago and I had the best experience. The people were so helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, the turnaround time was very quick and the services are very reasonably priced. The store is pet friendly, which was an added bonus! Highly recommend and will be going again soon.

My fiancé proposed with his mom’s ring. I took it to made you look for re-sizing and cleaning. The staff was super helpful and friendly, they recommended getting it re-tipped and having the stone tightened as well. I got it back a week later and it looks like a brand new ring! New tips are super clean and even, and it’s so shiny 🤩. Will definitely bring other things here when they need maintenance.

Made You Look is hands down my favourite shop in Toronto. The staff are so welcoming and kind, and the designers are incredibly talented. I often stop in just to browse and try on jewelry - a visit to this store literally boosts my mood and inspires me so much. I’ve bought pieces from a number of different designers, including having custom pieces made. The designers are so lovely, and you can feel their love for their work in every interaction you have with them. One designer in particular I find I keep going back to is Tessa Cameron (Invidiosa jewelry). Her pieces are so beautiful. They have a very textured and organic feel to them that I just love. She recently made a pendant for my mother, using a sapphire that has a special meaning for my mom. Tessa is wonderful to work with - she takes you through each step of the process, sending photos and ideas along the way, making the custom process so much fun 🥰. The necklace that she made is unique and stunning, and is exactly what I wanted for my mom. If you’re looking for a piece of jewelry, custom or ready to wear, I can’t recommend Tessa and the rest of the designers at Made You Look enough 💕.

I brought in a watch I purchased as a gift to be laser engraved. I was really impressed with the level of service from everyone I interacted with. I first emailed to confirm the services they provide and was responded to the same day. When I brought the watch in, Spencer helped me with the layout and all the other questions I had. He is very knowledgable and gave me a sense of trust in choosing them. He texted me to let me know how things were going and things he needed approval on. The watch was engraved in cyrillic and it turned out beautifully. They completed the work in three days and I am very happy. I had not been there before, but I will be coming back. They create and sell very beautiful jewellery that caught my eye, but I didn't have enough time to explore everything. This place is one of a kind not only in Parkdale, but all of Toronto. To have that rare combination of artistic talent and customer service is rare. Thank you for the engraving. Look forward to my next return.

Edit: The owner replied to this review. The lack of service is not what warranted my 2 star review. It’s the poor attitude I received that warrants this review. I’ve been to this place multiple times and have gotten excellent customer service. This time however has completely tarnished my experience. I didn’t make a big deal out of being denied service. But immediately blaming me for my poor review rather than seeing what the potential issue may be, is a poor way to conduct business.

DO NOT GO HERE FOR A QUICK, REASONABLY PRICED FIX OR INSCRIPTION. I brought in a bracelet to have a link fixed and an inscription placed on the back. Was quoted a total of $110.00 + tax, which was for $20.00 inscription setup cost + 34 characters at $1.50 per character = $51.00 and balance of $39.00 to fix the link. No quote available on site but confirmed by email. Agreed to $110.00 and asked for breakout of costs and suddenly quote increased to $181.00. For what I do not know. Asked why, but no reply to that, just became intractable and disparaging. Told me that I’d been done a favour for not being charged an additional $50.00 for what was claimed to be a rush job of 1 week? which was never advised. So... if you insist in using this store, here are my suggestions 1. Get a written quote when you’re in the store - maybe won’t stop them from increasing the price after, like with me, but at least they cannot claim the in store quote was not the one I had and was emailed. 2. I would suggest that if you’re not comfortable with a business that disparages their customers, you stay away in the first place, these folks are just plain rude. 3. Go 4 doors east and the watchmaker will do it all for you, in my case at only $60.00 incl hst , considerably less than $181.00 + hst for total of $204.52. I won’t go there ever again to get repairs done and I suggest you don’t either.
