Seven
months
ago,
l
began
seeing
Dr
Tanaka
after
an
ankle
surgery.
He
appeared
as
one
who
could
help
not
only
with
post-surgery
rehab,
but
more
so,
correct
my
bad
form
and
joint
loading
to
prevent
future
injuries.
Although
not
an
athlete
(just
a
grubby
construction
worker
in
his
50s),
I've
had
a
life
of
constant
preventable
injuries
from
recreation,
work
and
even
exercise.
All
surgeries
and
most
treatments
I've
received
have
been
joint/soft
tissue
related.
The
number
of
visits
I've
had
with
the
MRI
scanner
is
sickening;
if
I
ever
slide
into
one
again,
I'll
probably
puke
in
it.
During
the
first
several
visits
of
PT,
Tyler
was
very
hands-on.
After
months
of
being
cemented
in
a
boot,
he
quickly
restored
my
foot
and
ankle
mobility
through
manual
manipulation
and
a
few
take-home
exercises.
With
no
imaging,
Tyler
could
determine
my
current
state
of
healing
and
what
we
needed
to
do
to
promote
it.
When
first
attempting
to
walk,
it
was
impossible
to
have
heel
strike,
maintain
balance,
and
trust
my
new
rebuild.
Then,
after
Tyler
positioned
me
into
some
odd
but
simple
positions
while
lying
on
my
side,
I
could
instantly
make
strides
and
actually
walk.
I
don't
understand
the
science
behind
his
'neurological'
methodology,
but
it's
fascinating
nonetheless.
With
no
disregard
to
the
recovery
plan
outlined
by
my
surgeon,
Tyler
was
able
to
fast-track
my
healing
(and
confidence)
at
least
4-5
weeks
ahead
of
schedule.
After
these
first
several
sessions
of
PT,
we
began
working
on
decades
of
poor
form
and
breathing-
the
culprits
behind
my
nonstop
injuries.
At
this
point,
it
seems
like
I
went
from
Tyler's
patient
to
his
student.
As
he
varies
exercises,
some
sessions
were
an
absolute
blast,
some
frustrating
and
others
enjoyable-
then
to
go
home
and
realize
I'm
not
making
connections
that
week.
He's
always
been
patient,
encouraging
and
confidently
reassuring
when
the
ride
has
gotten
bumpy.
Although
unable
to
return
to
Convergence
the
last
several
months,
a
mindfulness
of
body
position
and
breath
have
been
developing.
Working
only
with
several
of
Tyler's
prescribed
exercises
(that
I'm
not
very
good
at),
I
continue
to
find
more
and
more
periods
of
relief,
and
a
sensation
of
lightness
from
heels
and
knees,
through
the
SI
and
lumbar
region
to
the
shoulders.
Having
a
ways
to
go
before
achieving
the
strength
to
autonomously
maintain
good
postural
alignment,
I'll
always
be
eager
to
return
to
Convergence
to
continue
my
education.
Tyler
is
elite.
A
trainer
to
some
and
a
doctor
to
others,
his
service
is
unique.
It's
awesome
to
not
be
hurriedly
booted
from
the
room
so
the
next
client
can
be
rushed
in.
He
truly
desires
strength,
injury
prevention
and
healing.
Although
professional,
he
can
be
pretty
funny
too.
It's
been
really
valuable
spending
time
with
him
and
I'm
so
thankful
for
this
incredible
resource.
