UPDATE:
The
owner
reached
out
to
me
and
let
me
tell
you
that
she
truly
cares
about
her
store
and
her
patrons.
Thanks
Sarah!
Please
visit
this
place
when
you
are
in
Eureka
and
support
the
locals.
I
grew
up
in
Eureka
and
usually
come
home
once
or
twice
a
year.
I
love
this
place,
and
my
family
and
I
always
buy
mementos
from
this
store
when
we
visit.
And
yes,
the
items
may
be
higher
priced,
but
much
of
it
is
handmade
from
local
artists
-
which
is
amazing!
You
will
find
things
you
won’t
anywhere
else.
Well
worth
the
prices
and
better
than
going
to
the
local
mall.
With
that
being
said,
my
husband
and
I
were
recently
there
(January
6)
and
were
excited
to
check
out
the
new
expansion.
Sadly,
the
woman
behind
the
counter
made
our
experience
less
than
ideal.
She
barely
acknowledged
us
when
we
came
in
and
didn’t
really
want
to
chat
when
I
told
her
how
awesome
the
expansion
looked.
We
honestly
felt
like
she
either
(1)
did
not
want
to
be
there
or
(2)
didn’t
want
us
to
be
there
or
maybe
it
was
both.
This
was
the
complete
opposite
of
past
experiences.
I
have
always
encountered
friendly
staff
at
Humboldt
Mercantile,
so
I
was
a
bit
bummed.
We
still
threw
down
some
cash
and
enjoyed
the
new
shop,
but
I’m
not
sure
I
will
return
in
the
future.
It
was
just
an
uncomfortable
situation
that
I
would
like
to
avoid
in
the
future.
Hopefully
the
expansion
didn’t
change
the
charm
of
this
place
because
it
truly
was
a
gem
of
a
store.
