One of the most popular and best places to study engineering and other informatics related disciplines. The university offers a very wide variety of courses and flexible organisation of electives. They have amazing research capabilities and some very good ties with the industry. Top university!

The university that ruins your personal life. Flee from Aachen, go to Munich or Berlin. I have THREE degrees from this university. Yet, I hate the university and the city from the bottom of my heart. Don't mess up your youthfulness and get away from RWTH and Aachen.

Terrible place to study. They say that B1 German level is enough, but it is really not enough. Just go there if your German is perfect, otherwise go to other country that speak english or other language. People are very rude and unfriendly, was a terrible experience

Much respect and thank you to all doctors, nurses, and support staff who work and help all of us here. Extremely friendly and helpful staff on every level. But the place itself is managed like last century never stopped. It feels claustrophobic, there are almost no open spaces for visitors. The only café is opened from 8am-4pm even though official visiting hours are 12-6pm and there is almost no space to sit anywhere with the patients while visiting. Payment in cash only!!! 2x guys at the counter waiting for customers while the only table accross from the café is dirty and with empty cups/bottles. Shame on you... This place seems to be great for patients, but visitors are absolutely not in focus and cash only is an all known German relic from years before...

If there was a native rating, I'd give it. Good marketing. Mediocre teaching quality. Insufficient library and study places. All types of student services offered are insufficient due to high number of enrolled students and high demand and besides lack of staff's work ethics. Teaching and administrative stuff/staff, I don't want to start talking about it. Just imagine. It is a spectrum from the worst to best. It depends on your luck, who/what you encounter. There are some subtle, hidden prejudice, discrimination, denigration cases carefully tailored by administrative and academical staff. They are not ready to confront and accept any of these cases either. One needs to put on his/her thick skin to overcome these. You get a brand label on your diploma, if you manage to keep yourself motivated and graduate, despite all these. Does it worth it? I don't think so. Because, you need to spend extra effort to motivate yourself not because the lectures are hard. I wouldn't suggest to pay high tuition fees to the international academy or business school, either. It doesn't worth it. Those are the worst ones to deceive students. Except student semester ticket and access to libraries, no other service is available to international academy or business school students. International school offers some services and they are not either available to Business School students. Then the Business School claims to provide some services, but they are only available after several months sometimes even after 1 year, if they even decide to make it available to you. whenever a student send an inquiry over email, s/he will be responded, the staff is busy and the service is offered only on spacial occasions. Whatever that special occasion nobody knows. And if they say they will provide something and wait for, then after 1 semester, you'll be sent an email this time saying no. You can wait for a life time, be lied on purpose and be denigrated in return of high tuition fees. "This student service, that student service" type of things are only marketing efforts which are not true in essence. Professors are not approachable, not capable or giving feedback and prefer to lie and distract students by directing them to administrative staff. Besides, female students are asked to sign contracts including ridiculous articles like "I accept not to have a baby during my studies." In which age are we in that an institution tries to control women's decisions about their life, their own capacity and plans. And if you ever try to talk with them, the only thing they do is to come up with justifications for their attitude. They are just so busy and happy with their work, which is nothing to do with students but make some check marks on pre-assigned task lists and get paid. Students are just passing by numbers on their list and tools to lure to make more revenues to pay their salaries. You are not even human nor a customer to them. In fact, the staff is the main reason of the roadblock and demotivation in this place. If you write a review to warn other students not he practices here, they have it deleted, instead of accepting their faults and keep hiding their bad practices! This country and this university still live in WW2 times. Do not waste your energy here. If I could go back in time, I would prefer an English speaking country and another university.

For me this is not the “Exzellenzuniversität” they say they are. A lot of organizational problems for the students in their everyday life…the library doesnt even have enough room for everyone who wishes to study for their exams and there are lines at 7:30 in the morning already. The Cantine shuts down at 13:30 due to lack of employees and students can not have dinner and so on and so on. From the perspective of teaching - business subjects are very theory oriented and have less practice based orientation - the knowing-doing gap is very very large there… Some of the engineering modules are well taught - like Thermodynamics, but a lot of what you learn (say in Machine Design) is quite obsolete already…a need for greater freedom in “Wahlfächer” (elective subjects that you choose to study according to your interests later on in your career) is needed. You have the feeling that the administration employees are not there to help you but just the opposite - they are trying with all means to make it harder for you to solve whatever problems you may have (pertaining to organizational matters). There is also a lack of respect in their behavior. Update: another of the quite stupid things (small but very annoying because its just miserable) is that the university doesn’t provide students with access to printers…not even in their library. Probably the only one in the world. And then guess how you can print stuff on a Sunday when nothing is open - you cant. Update 2: I am currently applying for a Masters away from RWTH Aachen and was contacting professors for a recommendation letter as this is a common requirement. One of the professors said he will not help me by writing a recommendation letter even though I have an A+ (1.0) in his subject. That being said, you must know that he doesnt know me personally but as it is with every other professor because the lectures are in big halls with 300+ students. Nevertheless he must know that you can not change this fact and still at least try to write a more general recommendation letter….It is very common here, that professors do not really care about students and their achievements as it is everywhere else around the world. RWTH is just another miserable institution with no values for the students. Professors only care about their name being shared on the university’s pathetic linkedin profile with some random research that has little to no impact on the world science scene. No one outside of Germany has ever even heard of RWTH Aachen and this will stay this way…unfortunately.

This campus is very popular in Indonesia because the 4th president, B.J. Habibie, graduated from here.

One of the best Engineering Universities in Germany. There is no specific Boundary. But buildings from the university are all around the city of Aachen, here and there. CARL, Audimax and Informatik buildings are the ones where most classes takes place. Almost all the buildings modernized and, most buildings have special arrangements for the people with challenged mobility.

Nice atmosphere, great for engineers, but they have extremely terrible enrolment system, which leaves you thinking that they don't even use brains...

Very big name in Germany. It's an honour to part of this University for every Science scholar. However, some scholars fake their background and came here for living luxury living. One such is Sivaji Lahiri. Fake degree certificate, fake English language certificate. University should enquire all candidates thoroughly.

👍 Good sports offer. At other universities, however, you can choose everything on offer for a flat rate, hence only 4 stars
