Our
first
impressions
were
just
OK,
to
learn
abruptly
that
there
was
no
food
available
(apart
from
breakfast)
the
following
day
almost
as
our
first
greeting
wasn't
ideal.
However,
from
that
point
on
things
improved
and
we
were
able
to
eat
in
the
Lion
on
our
first
evening
and
I
would
say,
if
you
do
nothing
else
in
Dulverton,
make
sure
you
have
their
Schnitzel
and
cucumber
salad!
The
breakfasts
by
the
way
were
generous
and
tasty,
full
English,
but
other
options
were
also
available.
The
hotel
is
an
old
building
and
I
am
glad
I
am
not
responsible
for
it's
upkeep.
It's
age
is
obvious
from
how
our
room
was,
spacious
but
with
some
attention
needed,
the
curtains
and
secondary
glazing
needed
careful
handling.
The
heating
could
best
be
described
as
idiosyncratic,
the
boiler
could
be
heard
and
occasionally
loud
gurgles
through
the
pipes
and
sometimes
even
some
heat.
I
did
hear
that
a
plumber
was
already
booked
to
have
a
look.
In
summary,
if
you
want
somewhere
were
everything
is
predictable
and
looks
perfect,
perhaps
look
elsewhere,
on
the
other
hand,
if
character
and
a
limited
menu,
with
generous
helpings
appeals
to
you
-
don't
hesitate.
We
thoroughly
enjoyed
our
stay,
thank
you.
