This has to be on your bucket list of places to visit around Exeter. The underground passages is more of a tour of the history of Exeter's water supply system. You will go through some of the old medieval water passages and learn how they developed over the last 500 years. If you have little children who love to run around, i don't think they will be suited for this place. It's a guided tour so you can't go exploring unfortunately. Definitely don't go here if you are claustrophobic as you will be going through some tight spaces. There's no wheelchair access through the passages as they are too narrow. Still a good way to learn about Exeter's water history. There were quite a few teenagers on the tour and most of them seemed to enjoy it, worthy of the 7 pound entry. Park in the Princess Hay carpark as that will be cheaper than parking on the road.

So I back in Exeter for the first time in seven years. I was catching up with friends and doing some of the touristy things whilst I was in the city. I came here and booked onto the 13:00 tour on a Sunday. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. You receive a short talk prior to watching a short video cli that give you some history and the back story to the tunnels before going underground. The video clip is around 10 minute and the underground tour itself lasts for around 25 minutes. I advice wearing decent footwear and a hard hat is provided. There is approximately around 300 meters of tunnels. The tunnels date back to the medieval period and has seen war, death when cholera broke out within the city in 1832. The tunnels was blocked off due to war and then reopened years later. Parts of the tunnels were badly damaged during the Second World War due to the blitz that the city saw. It’s an amazing adventure for children and pretty interesting for anyone who loves history. Thanks to the guide ‘Helen’ who was fun, knowledgeable and made the experience fun a and really interesting.

Took the kids to the underground passages as the weather was terrible, £18 for a family ticket was very reasonable, Good little information centre at the start, followed by a video about the history of the tunnels followed by the tour itself. If you are Claustrophobic this is not going to be for you, as it is tight in places, but it a good little tour to take up part of a day, well worth a visit!

What a great place. I tried to book online but the website wasn't very clear so I emailed the company and they were brilliant. Booked me on the tour I wanted. I never knew it was so easy to go down into the passages

Excellent tour. The guide Lynn was extremely informative, funny and made the tour both informative and fun. Apart for warning for claustrophobia, wearing full sleeve clothes and ducking at every turn, a perfect tour for everyone. Enjoyed it loads!

If you're in Exeter and interested in history,I'd definately recommend this place. We had a great time, our guide,Crystal was fantastic, fun, knowledgeable and very safety concious. It is quite tight in places but if you get anxious, you can ask to leave and go back up to ground level. Thank you,Crystal,we had a good time and thank you for the laughter, you're fab!

Good place to visit and see something different in the city. Friendly & knowledgeable staff, with interactive elements in the museum. Also, lockers to leave bags which are secure when underground.

I love the underground passages! Always a very informative tour and you'll learn a lot about how Exeter got it's water supplies in days past. The tales of Albert the ghost on his bicycle always makes me laugh. The kids had a great time and the little museum is good.

The little museum exhibit is quite comprehensive and well done. The guide was a disappointment. She appeared not to have much real interest or feel for the History. She reiterated a few bits of isolated information from the exhibition and failed to really paint a picture from any period in History. She also had a very strong South Asian accent which made it a bit difficult to understand what she was saying about the features in the passages. If the main job of the guide is to navigate a few people along a short stretch of tunnel safely and get them out again that was carried out well.

Short, but enjoyable and interesting with knowledgable tour guide. Limited numbers mean its very in demand, really recommended to book in advance

Intriguing attraction, nicely presented with a great guide. Glad I made the time to finally visit, my daughter enjoyed it as was well overcoming a little fear of being underground.

This was a great experience as I did not know the history of the passages. The guide was really friendly and made the experience fun but knowledgeable. Worth a visit.

An enjoyable experience, in that it's quite novel - not a lot of people know about this in Exeter! It's a bit pricey, especially as you don't get to access as many of the passages as you think. I like to take visitors here

A lovely visit, very knowledgeable and informative staff, that were even kind enough to give us more information on other historic sites to visit in Exeter and surrounding areas. The passages were great to experience, the guide definitely completed the tour with her passion to pass her knowledge on

Omg this was so much fun, I’m only 5’5” but I did have to duck a bit. If you’re 6ft or a larger build it might be a little awkward to crouch. I’m pleasantly plump myself and could fit no issues but for a taller person you won’t be able to stand straight for a majority of it. I am also quite claustrophobic but didn’t have as many issues as I thought, the only time I would start panicking a bit was when we stopped walk for some educating conversation

Fascinating place to visit , informative guide, long slow walk throughout the tunnel complex .Low bending down for those with back, or neck problems, not recommended, or if you don't like the tight claustrophobic narrowness of the walls. Need to book a " tour", and soak up the (damp) atmosphere ENJOY. .

Would really recommend this attraction. Very informative staff, nice to learn about a different history that is about real people not castles and cathedrals. Worth attempting the small tunnel at the end. Only if your able to tho

Amazing experience learning about the hidden tunnels of Exeter. Hearing the cars through the rock and going over the speedbumps was a definite awesome thing to hear. The crouching and crawling made it even more fun!

Interesting history of how water was transported hundreds of years ago through simple underground tunnels. There is guided tour. The tunnel can be narrow and ceiling is low.

The passages are a bit cramped and low ( think I hit my safety helmet about 10 times )all visits are with a tour guide who is very knowledgeable. The staff are friendly.

Great small tour underground with a friendly, energetic and knowledgeable guide. Choice to take the tighter route out too.
