Absolutely brilliant! We joined the Forgotten Exeter tour with Clive and then the ghost and legends tour on the following day. So interesting, tour guides with such a wealth of knowledge. How fabulous to be able to do something for free that is just so good!

Excellent tour today with our Red Coat tour guide Mike who was extremely knowledgeable about the hidden places we simply don't know about in Exeter. Absolutely recommended if you are new to Exeter or if you want to find out more about this ancient city. Thanks Mike, we had a great morning 👍

We did the Forgotton Exeter tour. Brilliant guided walk. Our guide, Michael, was passionate and knowledgeable about his City . A terrific experience taking us into parts of the City we knew nothing about.

Thank you so much to Jerry for the tour in the terrible weather! Very informative and we learnt so much about buildings and landmarks that we would normally just walk past! We will be doing another one on our next visit! Joanna and Celia from Southend-on-Sea!

Fab tour from this lady (didn’t catch her name). Just the right length and distance to walk. Very clear and concise and so much detail. Lots of illustrations to help put info in historical context but her patter was all from memory. Will definitely go on another tour when I get the chance.

David was an excellent guide. He made Exeter seemed super interesting and if not for him, I don’t think I’d have grown to like the city as much. He was very knowledgeable about all things Exeter and was very passionate about the city. However despite his wealth of knowledge, he didn’t make the tour boring at all and always had a great wit about him. He was very lively and answered every question in detail and with spontaneity. David also provided so many recommendations to all of us and kept us entertained throughout. I could do a 4-5 hour tour with David to be honest - he was that good. We send our well wishes and deep appreciation to David for a wonderful job. Ps: our tour was scheduled at 10.30 but I had to shift it to 10.45 and some in our party were further held up and only arrived at 11.05-11.10 yet David was especially patient with us and insisted on showing us the whole tour at no extra charge. Wonderful wonderful man. Thank you David for a great time in Exeter. Will definitely get a tour with you next time I am in Exeter. Sarish On behalf of - University of Birmingham Debate Society

I did the 2pm Medieval tour yesterday Friday 11/8. Whilst Helen was an excellent guide, the tour was marred by a young child who was constantly asking stupid questions and, even more annoyingly, telling anecdotes about herself. She was with her grandparents, who didn’t seem to do much to rein her in. Helen did her best to make her wait for a more convenient time to get an answer to her questions, but there were still regular interruptions. I wonder if you have considered doing family and adults only tours, to get round this issue??

We took part in the Forgotten Exeter tour led by Mike. He was a great guide and knew so much about the city and was very proud to be from here. Learnt so much and visited a couple churches in town I'd never been in despite living here for years.

A great experience. We went to Exeter with a group of Spanish students. Our guide was Barry Flicker. He was able to make our walk around the historic area of Exeter an absolute pleasure. He adapted his talk to the age of the children in terms of the content of what he told and the way he told it. Congratulations Barry, you did a great job. We'll come back.

My friend and I from the U.S. were visting another friend who lives in Exeter. All around, the town is so beautiful. She and I took the Red Coat Tour and our guide was Dave. We both learned so much about the history and recommend the tour, by all means, when visiting Exeter. Look forward to visiting again.

I was born in Exeter, but moved overseas 15 years ago. We were visiting family and decided to be tourists in our home town. We did the Ghost and Legends tour, our tour guide was Richard. This was a good tour and I saw parts of the city that I had never known was there. We were told ghost stories and the history behind the buildings we were viewing. Richard was enthusiastic and funny. For a free, volunteer lead service, this was excellent. I would recommend it to visitors and city lovers alike.

We had a fantastic 1 hour long tour today 'Introducing Exeter' which was very interesting. Our tour guide was Susie who is very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions that we had. Everything was covered from pre-Roman to modern day. The historical photos and drawings of Exeter shown during the tour were great. Such a shame about the Royal Clarence Hotel. Thank you Susie!!

City Wall tour conducted by Mike on Sunday 10th April. A fantastic way to spend 2 hours on a Sunday morning. Mike was really friendly and informative. The walk is a really good way to orientate yourself with the city and give you some really useful information to make the best use of time for a great weekend.

Had a wonderful tour today of the Bishop's Palace Garden with Mike as our tour guide. Free tour with lots of information and Mike was very friendly. I would love to try a different tour and I would recommend this.

Great tour. John was excellent, knew his stuff, but didn't delve too deeply into academia territory. It was well balanced and well paced. John talks with passion, pride (of the city) and good humour. Well done, John and many thanks. Andy & Jen

Free guided tours by well informed, interesting tour guides. Pete did the Introductory tour of Exeter. Also attended the Quay guide. I'll put the pictures of the 2 guides up. They were both excellent.

Brilliant, fun and informative tour. Clive our guide was fantastic and really brought mediaeval Exeter to life, plus lots of extra information! Can't recommend highly enough

Much less walking than I was hoping for (a lot of the stops mere steps from each other), but still fun and informative. Going again with friends in a couple of weeks!

Excellent tour. We did the Sunday, 11 am tour from the Cathedral for the city wall with our wonderful tour guide named Peter, and the two hours passed in a blink of an eye. It was informative, fun as well as showed us the wonderful views of the current city, at the same time giving us a glimpse of the past. 100% recommend it on a sunny day, with plenty of water and sports shoes. And the volunteer guide was lovely. Go for it!
