This gym may be a good value for the basic membership .. but be EXTRA careful paying for anything else unless you are sure what you are paying for. And, be aware of their sales pitches. I paid $600 in advance for peronal trainer lessons. After two lessons I requested them for a refund for the rest of the lessons as they were not useful at all. They refused to refund anything.. The reason they gave me is that I paid the full amount in advance. The person at front desk told me that if I had decided to pay in installments he could have been able to cancel it, but no refund. Also, don't expect them to respond to your queries once your credit card is charged. They first told me that the refund is handled by a specific person and I should talk to her. I kept trying to get hold of her for a week but she never came in front of me. I was given an appointment time when she was supposed to see me at front desk. I kept waiting for 15 minutes while seeing her walking around. And then I was told that she left for the day. :)

DO NOT UPGRADE! Again DO NOT UPGRADE! They will say you can downgrade anytime but they won't let you if you try to later. I was on the 9.99 plan and thought ill try a few classes get a guest with me for a couple months who was staying over and then downgrade again. So I upgraded to the highest level during which they said I could go back anytime. N now that I want to go back they said you were signed up for a contract and cannot. They agree it was their mistake but just say too bad I got to live with it. Absolute scammers. EXTREMELY CROWDED too. Forget getting a bench, you won't even get parking spot during peak hours.

This place is ridiculous. Not only was I harassed every Sunday by a male gym member, however every time I walked in the door I was jumped down my throat by staff members begging me to refer more members. You literally cannot get on a machine as it is without waiting 20 minutes, why would I want more people to fight for machines with?! If you need to sell more memberships then locate to a larger space. Additionally, the GM just informed me I have to supply a utility bill proving I moved in order to cancel my membership. This is a GYM. Where I locate to isn't your business. Now I have to waste gas money which is super expensive these days just to cancel my membership because phone verification isn’t enough apparently.

I can say I was happy with this gym, the membership cost is ok with what you get. but be very careful with what they charge when you put your credit card information. I cancelled my membership because I moved to a new city and they keep charging me even 2 months after. the small letters of the contract says that I must cancel with at least 5 days before the new charge is processed, I cancel with 7 days in advance and have my receipts. when I contacted Josh, the manager of this location, he agree that was a mistake on their end, and will process a refund, that might take up to 2 weeks to be processed, one month later they are trying to charge me again for next month, is not even a big amount of money but Josh and other staff members attitude is really annoying, suggesting me to contact my bank when I already did and is an Crunch practice. I already open a dispute with my bank instead of wasting time with this entitle people, and I will just recommend anyone that comes to this gym to be aware of this likely common practice

All of their employees seem to be under 21, which is fine, but they naturally take their responsibilities as if they were teenagers. If I need to look at this every time I go to the locker room, then so should everyone else who is thinking of joining this gym.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS GYM. These guys charged my credit card $343.57 for "Club Fees". I called them up and they said that's what I owed even though I have the yearly $200 membership. I tried to cancel and they told me that I have to come ON SITE and sign an exit contract rather than cancelling by phone. This gym not only charges you fees they also make you come ON SITE to cancel your membership because they know you won't do it for $10 a month. This is the biggest scam in the area DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS GYM.

I know this location has had major turnover issues with keeping staff longterm. You don’t turn off the lights 5 minutes before you close in a giant gym. And no it wasn’t an accident. Who’s hiring the staff here? It’s not safe to shut off the lights off while customers are working out. This is a hazard if someone drops a weight on their head. I ran into several equipment on my way out. It was pitch dark trying to get my way to the exit. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. The GM needs step it up to train the staff in customer service for once. I know when Zack worked here it was running smoothly. This place is going down hill and time to go to Edge fitness or 24 hour Anytime Fitness down the way. At least they won’t shut the lights off before closing.

False information given about membership and fees at the time of enrollment and when I tried to change my membership I was asked to pay additional fees. Also, a lot hidden polices that surface only when you try to change membership. Expected better from the management.

Finally quit after going being a regular member shortly after it opened years ago. It’s gotten noticeably worse every year. It’s impossible to use free weights between 5-8pm. I’ve had to wait in line for equipment as late as 9:30pm. Alot of the equipment is starting to get worn down. I recently saw a cable snap on someone doing rows, making him fly backwards into the machines behind him. Crunch is lucky he didn’t get injured. Management is awful. Their employee turnover rate is incredibly high, even for a gym. In the years I’ve been there, it looks like they’ve cycled through every high school/college age person in metro Detroit at the front desk, and dozens of different trainers. I’ve had multiple negative encounters with the purple hair manager and have heard similar complaints from other regulars. My last encounter is when I ultimately decided to quit. Overall, it’s not the worst gym I’ve seen. It’s nice if you’re really on a budget and want to go early in the day or mainly plan on using cardio equipment. I’ll be joining another gym in the area for now. Hopefully Crunch can make a turnaround soon.

Lydia, the lady at the front desk was rude a couple of times towards me! I don't mind following the rules, but the way she was talking, (repeatedly!), not actually explaining the rules, and with attitude and words like: "you need to.." without saying even "hello can you please"! Also, she never says "bye" nor smiles. It is very unpleasant to go to the gym because of her words and attitude. Don't get me wrong, this is a good gym: clean, lots of equipment, and all the staff are very nice, except Lydia! With this attitude I don't think she belongs at the front desk or in customer service! That's the face of the business! To be nice goes a long way! The one star review is entirely because of her rude attitude!

I’ve been a member @ this gym for the last few months. It’s a great clean gym and the atmosphere is great. But management is absolutely terrible!!!!!! Today I was harassed embarrassed in front of a bunch of people by the manager. For something that could’ve been completely handled differently. I come to the gym to distress and tonight I felt like I was being attacked will not be coming back to this gym. Would like to be contacted by corporate Farmington Hills mi location.

They will not cancel your membership until you physically come into the building to cancel it. I called to cancel 4 separate times over a period of 4 weeks informing them that I’m unable to come to their location, only to be charged for yet another month because they didn’t cancel it. “I didn’t sign the cancellation form”. They have my email address on file, why not just send me the form?? Good luck cancelling if you move far away.

See all the one star rating. No manager on job. All kids working at front desk does not know anything besides watching people scan their membership card. If you are looking for self service gym, this is one for you. If you have problem, It will take forever. When i started initially, they had issues with credit card machine. I got my money back after 25 days after calling them and leaving a message multiple time. After a year or so I started again thinking now they will be good. But again, its the same. I want to cancel my membership but no manager. I think the kids can learn how to cancel the membership if the owner allows. I feel they just want people to pay and don't cancel the membership.

I love this gym. It is never too busy and all of the equipment is new. There’s plenty of space to do your own thing and they also offer group fitness classes.

Once you enroll I believe they want your money for rest of your life. I left the country and submitted all the required documents and got response from Amada Glillc who is the Director of Training and Development saying that my membership is now cancelled and I wont be charged any more!! but still I’m being charged every month and I get no response anymore from anyone inspite sending multiple Emails. If whoever reads this review from Crunch Fitness I hope atleast you respond and do the right thing.

Great location on Hagerty and Grand River in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Good amount of equipment; good quality of equipment. Well kept up, minus the occasional broken mirror but that’s cost of doing business in the weight lifting+ gym market. The icing on the cake is the Sauna/Locker-room amenities included at any package. I see this gym and this model as being the best Value to Return ratio for a gym. Definitely meets my standards and I wouldn’t recommend without being a member for 6+ months to tell if the Value is there. For 180$ a year (12x10+60 annual fee) this is great option for any college student or worker in the area needing a gym.

Great value and business. I do absolutely hate when I have to cancel membership for family members or myself. I generally use the gym during the winter and I go thru hell canceling because they sit there and don't take no for an answer to the point where I lose my loyalty almost. My wife was very uncomfortable because of cancelation conversations she had with some guys at the counter. Now when signing back up they want your bank account number because they know it's easier to control you if you can't simply cancel your debit card. I'd say 5 stars if the canceling process wasn't a total headache.

I frequent this gym about 5 days a week and I must say it’s my favorite location. My biggest complaint are the hours. They open late on the weekends and close early as well which is hard for people who still WORK weekends. I work 7am-10pm some days and can’t even fit in a workout after with enough time. Other than that though nice workers. I’ve had one extremely unsettling occurrence with a employee but I don’t think he’s there anymore thankfully.

I love this gym they have everything I need in one place however I think that a lot of people have found this out and now it is always crowded even in the morning and you have a long wait to be able to use the equipment you want. But the staff, facility, and atmosphere are all on point.

Good gym only until you decide to cancel your membership. They don’t answer your questions and ask to email for cancellation and to which nobody replies. Update: Still no response since 4 months. Had to call them back and they say you have to come to gym for cancellation or send a mail for cancellation. Why was I told to email initially then? And even b4 emailing them I went to the gym and they said manager wasn’t available, which is not my problem. I think the best thing would be block the payments with my bank. Thank you guys for your service !!

Great location but the downside is it’s ALWAYS busy. It’s kind of annoying to where I’d suggest going else where, I’ll probably get a new gym in the spring. Unless the gym hours extend 🤷🏻‍♀️ also, the walls are always filthy

I'm trying to get back into the gym and recently made it in! This gym has clean workout space. In the past, I've enjoyed using the hydro massage beds and the tanning bed. They do have a free trial and say pass to try it out.

I’ve had a base membership at this location for about two years now. 5-6 mornings a week so you can say I love working out. I’ve tried a lot of gyms before, but this is the best! Reliable and friendly staff, clean, atmosphere, and reasonable hours, especially during the holidays. For a price that can’t be beat, any complaints I have are minimal. Awesome equipment and from what I’ve seen great personal trainers, I wouldn’t go anywhere else. They are innovative with staying current with their equipment and adding accessory equipment. As far as the gym goers, I’m never afraid to ask for a spotter, and I’ve had only friendly interactions on the floor, as well as in the locker room. I can’t recommend Crunch Fitness enough!

DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR CHECKING DETAILS. We signed up under a no cancellation fee contract under my wife's employer and they still charged us a cancellation fee when we had to move for her job. They charged us again the next month after we paid the cancellation fee and when I called they told me a manager would call me back and they never did even after several calls. NOW A YEAR LATER they charged us again randomly and won't return our calls. We had to have the bank block direct debits from this company.

BE ADVISED: A Membership here will cost you AT LEAST $100 in Extra Fees. The Signup Fee is $50... Then 45 Days later they will Charge you another “Yearly Fee” of $50 (Even if you Cancel BEFORE the first 45 Days.) It makes me understand why they charge $4 a month to pay with a Credit or Debit Card (They don’t want people “Stopping Payment” and raises that “Basic Membership” to $20 a month.) When I asked the Manager why they didn’t just charge me upfront, she told me “This is how the owner does it, they don’t want the sticker shock”... In other words, “They don’t want you knowing what you are signing up to pay for”. So that’s an easy decision! My other Gym Membership might cost more, but it’s LEGIT, it has better facilities and isn’t located in a Strip Mall.

My 1 year contract has expired but yet they still charge me month to month, on top of a 68$ charge for " club fees" . They told me i need to physically come in and sign paperwork to stop them from charging me the monthly fee. Can't cancel over the phone or online. I'm stuck at home due to a severe car crash, so getting up to the gym is a no go, until I'm able to drive myself again. Not to mention it's a small and crowded gym that doesn't stay open 24 hours. Go somewhere else.

I never joined crunch fitness. I belonged to a different gym called fitness 19 that went out of business. Apparently my membership was transferred to crunch fitness without my knowledge and my credit card was charged. I called crunch fitness to notify them that I did not join their gym and that I did not appreciate them charging my credit card without my permission. They claimed that some clause in the fitness 19 contract gave them permission to sell the contract to any other gym of their choosing. I find it hard to believe that this would even be a legal practice. Anyway I requested a refund to my credit card and not to be charged in the future. It has been about 10 days since my request and still no refund. I made another call to them today and they assured me that the refund would be applied . I guess if they don't issue the refund soon then I will be forced to dispute the charge and cancel my credit card. What a hassle considering I never even heard of crunch fitness before all of this transpired.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Our prior gym went out of business during the pandemic a few months ago. This weekend I find charges from Crunch Fitness on my credit card. Never been to this gym and never used their services. Called Crunch and was advised that my prior gym transferred my membership, which we were never notified of or consented to. Not only did I never agree for my credit card info to be sold but to make matters worse Crunch charged my cc for more than what I paid at my prior gym. And they are refusing to refund the unauthorized charges. Staff claims they were advised by their management not to refund anything. Greedy, unethical, and unprofessional scammers. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Joined a few weeks ago. Very nice gym, lots of free weights and the machines are well maintained. Clean and very hype for the gym atmosphere. Very bright and a lot of friendly people. This gym makes me really look forward to working out. My only complaint is that some of the weight locks are broken or faulty so it's sometimes difficult to squat or deadlift more than 3 plates without spilling a bit but that's not a big deal, more of just a suggestion.

My experience here as been incredibly outstanding! Crunch FH continues to exceed expectations, especially for anyone nervous or beginning their gym process! Machines and spaces are consistently well-kept, and staff members are intentional about cultivating a warm and inviting atmosphere! Thankful for people who help me feel at home even on days it was hard to make it out.

Crunch Fitness is a very nice place to workout. The weight room floor is large with various pieces of equipment. Staff are always cleaning and lots of sanitizer stations. I love working out at this place. The music is upbeat with a very nice variety of selections. The tv monitors are always on different stations. I do have two concerns that staff seem to care very little about: 1. Staff do very little to lubricate pulleys. The universal station, closest to the windows, has many stations that are hard to move because the pulleys need to be lubricated. The low row and lats pull down stations are very difficult to use. 2. There are 7 or 8 squat racks but only one movable bench and two stools. There needs to be at least 4 to 5 stools and two movable benches. People are at these stations for an hour or two and will use the bench or stools the entire time. I have asked several employees numerous time to lubricate the pulleys and if more stools are possible. Each time I am told 'we will look into this'; with no results. I showed the pulley problem to a fitness trainer; he said he would tell management. I even had one person to tell me he would try to get stools from another location. Nothing has changed!! It is very disappointing that I must wait to use a squat rack because I need a stool. Also, I become frustrated when the low row or lats pull down stations are difficult to use because of lack of lubrication. Hopefully management will identify these needs and act accordingly... we can only hope.

Hello. I train four days a week at this location. Great experience each day I train. Today was my usual Saturday at this facility; however, today was the 'Open House' event. A world-class event hosted by Luke with a Z, Leah, Joey at the front desk, Tom and Josh. All had a great time. Should you not have made the time to attend this event. Dude really? Mark B.

COLD COLD COLD! I took the opportunity to speak with a manager or GM I don't remember which title she said she was, little over a month ago and about how during the summer and even now that they have the gym freezing. When I come to a gym it's appropriate for the gym to be warm to hot. My sweat shouldn't be dripping cold off my body and I shouldn't be shivering in-between sets because the gym is so COLD. By having a hot gym, the heart rate stays elevated, I sweat more, burn little more calories, I keep my pump in-between sets and supersets etc. And even Now the weather is 50-60 degrees outside which means it gonna be colder inside and THEY won't even turn the heat on they have the Air Conditioning on BLAST when it's colder outside. It's common sense. I was told by the Manager that the Higher Ups don't allow her to change it and it's a set temperature which makes absolutely 0 sense coming from the people at the top of the food chain. I'm very disappointed in these owners and people who manage these gyms is like they never workout a day in their life to understand the basics of running a gym. Something as adjusting temperature of the gym to fit the weather each week so that us (Clients) who come and pay you money has a appropriate hot gym so we can get the most out of our workout is so simple but yet the Owners struggle. After all these locations they opened up it's disappointing that this is what they struggling with. I wouldn't be surprised with these owners as we get colder and colder they'll still have the air conditioning on in December. I'll give it another few weeks if I don't see improvements I will look to take my money elsewhere.

Great gym. Great Staff. Love the many classes. Especially the spin class with the Monday evening instructor! He's awesome (wink). The hydro massage tables are great and the perfect post workout to do. At this Crunch, the mens room is usually clean. Overal way better than than Planet Fitness any day of the week.

Signed up recently. Check-in and registration pretty smooth. Friendly staff. Signed up for the base except it's $15/mo (not $10) if you don't commit for a full year, which is still OK for me so consider that. ~$55 total cost of signing up (fist month included) and they give you one free session with a personal trainer, which I decided to continue with, since I've never tried one before. That's (~$60 session) for 3 moths (their minimum suggested time) and then we'll see. Just ONE request: please, please consider adding a bike station. This is a gym! of course there's ppl who want to bike there ;) easy 4 starts, I'll update my review after a couple of months :).

When I did the research, it looks like there is a substantial cancelation fee, and it says 9.99 per month, but you are billed 14.99, and there is an annual fee. I don't like misleading information. But I like the gym, especially the area where you can do your own thing. And, they have lots of disinfectant wipes. If you ca afford it, do it. But I know I would go and then stop. I need flexibility with canceling.

This gym is clean and spacious. There’s a long strip of free space for exercises like moving lunges. Benches for dumbbell exercises are plentiful and there are many cardio options to choose from. I would bring headphones, as the way the music is mixed is… not enjoyable. And this is coming from someone who likes the individual songs played in the mix. Overall, so far I would recommend this gym to those thinking of joining.

As a long time member of LA fitness, and a few other gyms in the past, I think crunch does a great job keeping all of their locations super clean. They have nice machines, dumbbells go up to 100lbs, and plenty of benches. Atmosphere is great too! I love this gym

I called to have my membership canceled. They stated I could not do it over the phone. However they said if I mailed in a letter I could cancel that way. I am no longer using the gym due to COVID 19 like many others. I received a phone call from Dustin the manager... he stated he could not cancel my membership due to I was in a 12 month contract... I lost my temper and argued with him... by the end of the conversation I was calm and I simply said ... your franchisee would rather force me to pay for the last 3 months of my contract the let me cancel and then possibly earn my business once the pandemic is over? He said he is not happy about it but yes... he said something along the lines of “ do you know how many times I have had this conversation.... In black and white sure you have a contract as for customer service this is not okay... I will for sure be reaching out to then franchise and telling everyone about my negative experience so that no one else gets locked into paying for something they are not even using due to COVID 19

I signed up for Crunch Fitness a year ago. It was a good deal for a big gym, clean locker room, and nice machines. Then COVID came, shut the place down. I received a text saying all members payment were on hold. I was on auto payments from my debit card, however, I never went back to a gym even after they opened, didn't feel safe. I never got a bill, never got a notification or anything I just assumed they cancelled peoples memberships due to the pandemic if they didn't show back up. All of a sudden 3 days ago I get a collections notice for almost $400 in charges. Number one, I was on auto payments, not sure why you weren't just charging my card. Number two you can't just place people into collections without trying to collect yourself first, I never got a text, an email, or a phone call stating I owed a balance. Or I would have paid it and moved on. Good luck trying to call to get a hold of someone. NO ONE answers. Finally left a message and the next day I receive a text with a promo that says if I rejoin my balance will be erased. Weird. Then today I get a voicemail saying it seems as though I am not taking part of their promotion and I still owe the balance. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. And please have someone call me or try to get ahold of me. Amanda "Manager" is THE WORST. UPDATE: I have been in touch with the owner of the gym, he is a sincerely nice guy and is doing checks and balances to see where the hole in the boat is for members to be put into collections without being notified. After talking to him, I have MUCH MORE confidence in the leadership of this gym. If I were to join a gym again I would consider Crunch just because of the owner.

When the pandemic started I cancelled my membership and received a confirmation call from an employee. Apparently that employee didn’t complete the cancellation and I was still showing as an active member that wasn’t paying. After 90 days the gym sent my account to collections without calling me first- dropping my credit score over 100 points. Not very fun when you’re trying to buy a house. I called yesterday after receiving a call from collections inquiring about a debt I had NO idea existed as I thought my membership was cancelled. I called the manager, Michelle, and she called the agency THAT DAY and cancelled the debt as it was their mistake which completely removed it from my credit report. She even went above and beyond and personally wrote me a letter stating it was their mistake in case this “stain” shows up on any future credit inquiries as well as an additional email apologizing for the entire situation. So while the gym made a mistake, I want to commend Michelle for her amazing customer service and responsibility. I cannot thank her enough. The gym also is very clean and well equipped. But if you ever want to cancel your membership: DO IT IN PERSON and get a confirmation!!!

Love the place..having been going there for 2 years now. But their social distancing regulations aren’t strict enough. You can see a lot of people workingout around with their masks down. They should also consider limiting the number of people they allow inside during their peak hours

Wearing a mask while working out is better than not working out at all :) I love all the amenities Crunch has to offer. I've been using the spray tan a lot as well as the massage chairs and sauna. Can't wait until the group classes are happening again.

Farmington Hills has become much better since Dustin took over as Front Desk Manager. Prior to Dustin, there was a revolving door of people that did not know what was going on and had no rapport with members. James Jones is a real people person and his bodybuilding and strength training accomplishments contribute to him being the real deal. Grant is an accomplished trainer and super nice guy. As a collegiate track star he has much to offer prospective clients. Tiffany is amazing. A 3 sport star in High School with background in nutrition, physical therapy, bodybuilding and sport specific training makes her an invaluable member of the team. The staffing has improved tremendously since Dustin started. There is less turnover and the girls at the front desk are top notch. Lyndsey Parent is an awesome instructor. She leads by example and is so nice. So glad that Amber Butler joined the team. I wish she did more classes in Farmington Hills. She is totally committed and a sweetheart. Hopefully group classes return soon.

Nice facilities for $10 a month. Be aware, though, that just like every other gym they'll try to get you into an auto renew contract and make it inconvenient to cancel.

I'm unable to decide if I should join this location or not, after looking at all these user experiences in the reviews. This decision making process is killing me. Wish there were gyms with no yearly contracts

Size like a warehouse! Plenty of equipment, friendly trainers, plethora of fitness programs and a lot to explore. Cleanliness of the gym is amazing. Workout area are well maintained and staffs' attention is outrageous! They are keep monitoring the environment and suggest the members to cover their face / wear masks whenever needed. Members are also so supportive and considerate during this pandemic which is truly appreciable. Also, the club is doing a good job in communication, as it is the key. Whether it is a cancellation or change in hours or policy, they are on top of it. They deserve 10/10 all time and keep up the good work!

Great gym. An outstanding variety of equipment, especially for the price. Many different membership options to fit your needs. Thank you for opening despite the governor's unreasonable emergency shutdown.
