Really cute vegan restaurant! The atmosphere is very welcoming and the team is extremely friendly. They offer super interesting meals with a vegan twist and the food not only looks amazing but also tastes very good. Due to circumstances we had to leave mid meal and they were super kind and packed everything and even made sure we had cutlery. I can definitely recommend- not only for vegans but for everyone.

What a cute little vegan restaurant. The atmosphere here is very pleasant; loved the decoration and the waitress was very kind. It's amazing to be able to taste portuguese dishes in a vegan variant. The food was delicious so I would highly recommend going here when you are in Faro. I was lucky to have a table so making a reservation might be recommended. Positive vibes, good vegan food and warm and charming staff in a cozy restaurant. Loved it!

What a great vegan restaurant. We've been here twice in a row because the food and the atmosphere were really awesome. Every dish had a very fine, original taste. You can't go to Faro without stopping at this fantastic place. Special thanks to the very warm welcome by the owner and the fantastic service.

Where to start... This place is just AMAZING. The waiters are really nice and the food is fabulous. Congratulations for the chef. We spent only 2 days in Faro and we ate 2 times in this restaurant. For sure we will recommend your restaurant to our friends. And we will come back. Thanks guys.

Always amazed at the food that the Outro Lado offers. Ate here four times and it was always excellent. The staff is great and the space is super tidy and cozy. Non-vegans will love the food too, I'm sure.

The spot is really cute and all the food is excellent, omnivore-approved! I love that they offer vegan versions of traditional Portuguese dishes. The staff is also super friendly and careful. A great experience that I would recommend to anyone!

Recommend this vegan restaurant. Maybe the best one in Faro. Small but cozy and well decorated place. The food, specially the starters are amazing. Really liked the glass straw. Friendly staff. Big portions which match the price. Just would place napkins under the burger as the burger was mixed with the napkin while eating.

Friendly service, was a really happy and chill atmosphere. The vegan egg was really good. The tofu dish was nice. But overall it was too rich for my palate. My body didn’t react well with the richness. But that’s just a personal thing. The taste was a good combinations of flavours, not sure what the name was of the dish it was a tofu, seitan, cheese and bread with tomato sauce dish. But it was good. Just a bit too rich for me. I could only do a few bites. The appetiser was good. The dishes are a large size, for me. So was hard to eat everything. So I had bits from each thing. If you’re into rich food, go here. If you want a friendly atmosphere, go here. The little shot at the end was nice. Was also nice to be celebrated a little bit on my engagement. Was a happy little place.

Fantastic vegan restaurant with so much love for detail. The kombucha was awesome and so were the starters as well as mains. A must-go in Faro!

We were greeted by a very polite waitress who proceeded to show us to our seats and accomodated for us for a seat change. The service was impeccable, granted there were only two staff on the floor attending to the entire restaurant which was impressive. The bathroom area was also very clean and well equipped. On the food's arrival, the items looked appealing and the presentation was delightful. However, the majority of the food lacked flavours and was overly-salted. The mains were terrible and all 3 of our dishes were unfortunately not to our liking. The 'Francesina' was one of the most dissappointing dishes I have had in a while- it's essence was that of soggy bread dipped in canned tomato soup. The 'typical Seitan shank' was overly salted with no flavour. I hasten to add that the best part of the meal was the starter of 'Alheira balls stuffed'- I would strongly recommend these. The waitress was kind enough to constantly ask if we were satisfied with our meal and my compliments go out to them. This restaurant has huge potential, however the dishes need to be re-evaluated.

Amazing vegan food. Everything from the starter to dessert was so delicious. It’s great to offer typical portuguese dishes. We really liked the Francesinha. Staff is very nice. We would definitely come back to try more dishes :)

Amazing vegan food reinventing all the classic portuguese dishes with authentic flavours. I highly recommend the alheira balls and the Jaca a bras although everything we ate was delicious including deserts. The fried "egg" is worth trying, very surprising flavours and hard to come by in vegan restaurants! Very generous portions. Reasonable prices and super service! Booking recommended.

Super nice place with delicious vegan food made the Portuguese way! Not in the middle of the touristy street and all the buzz, a little bit of the grid which felt more authentic and was a great experience! The staff are the best as well! 😍

Delicious slow food in Faro. All the signature Portugese dishes made vegetarian. Interior is cozy and small. In the high season, make sure to make a reservation. They have delicious lemonades. Also interesting starters, we had the “chorizo” croquettes. They were cheesy and delicious. For mains we had the stew and tomato rice. Both tasted homey and healthy. For dessert we had a cake. Would recommend!

Interesting restaurant concept! Delicious food and amazing opportunity to experience real Portuguese cuisine the vegan way! Dishes are full of flavour, prepared with a lot of care, attention to detail and love! Excellent menu and friendly staff. We enjoyed it a lot!

I was really looking forward to eating here! Sadly they had a few things missing from the menu and they never told us beforehand! The cheese plate and the veggie stew were both missing, which is what my parents were going for! They chose the risotto in the end, but somehow they only made one so they asked them to share until they made the other one (20-30 mins more, we were all finished by then). Didn't offer anything to compensate for the mistake. On top of that, you also couldn't really taste the butternut squash in the risotto. The wait time was also really long, over an hour. Hence, I will rate the service as disappointing, however the food was really cook especially their fake fish (tofu)! It's wrapped in multiple layers of seaweed and tastes lovely and healthy! Would've been nice to have a brown rice option though! We also ordered croquettes with vegan cashew cheese, which were amazing, my dad (big meat eater) absolutely loved them! Atmosphere was nice with candles in the toilet and small lights around the room, however, we found there was not plenty of space between the tables. Also outdoor seating would've been nice, but the location doesn't allow for that. Overall good place, but disappointed about the service.

Finally! A place where vegetarians and vegans can taste the delectable flavours of Portuguese cuisine! We had two starters and two mains, a couple of ciders and a coffee, bill for all that was €53. All the food tasted fresh and was flavourful. The dishes work in clever substitutions for their meat/fish counterparts, but also taste amazing anyway! A must-stop in Faro! Recommended to reserve in advance, the place fills up!

Amazing Portuguese food in its vegan version (very rare to find). We had the cheese chorizo balls as a starter and the fish tofu with tomato rice as well as the pernil as mains. Everything was delicious and prepared with great attention to detail. Very good choice of local wines and amazing service. Definitely coming back ♥️

The dinner at Outro Lado was just amazing. It's a good break from the usual Portuguese dinner with "bacalhau" and the fact that they try out new recipes at this place is just awesome. The people that work here are also just so kind and friendly, they speak good English so having a chat with them was super interesting. I would totally recommend it!! (In the picture the vegan Francesinha, it was delicious :)

Amazing vegan take on Portugese food. Loved every dish and super friendly staff. I had the vegan fracesinha, which comes with handmade sliced chips (or crisps for the British). It came in a delicious sauce with seitan and tofu as the filling instead of meat and topped with a vegan egg. Quite filling, but very good flavour. My friend had the 'fish' stew, which was tofu wrapped in nori with vegetables and looked delicious. I also recommend the watermelon and mint juice! It's definitely worth a visit and one of our best meals in Faro.

By far the best (vegan) restaurant I've ever been to. The food is so different from other vegan options you usually get. It's really a great experience that everyone should try. Even and especially non-vegetarians/vegans. Thank you so much for this great experience.

Best vegan restaurant I’ve ever eaten in. Delicious food and very friendly service. Sit, ask for a Portuguese organic wine, savour it while listening to the jazzy vibes in background, the best is yet to come, an amazing vegan dish prepared with love and full of flavour. Enjoy the moment!

Great vegan restaurant with lots of traditional Portuguese dishes in a vegan version. Highly recommended, you might have to make reservation beforehand. Their banoffee dessert was exquisite! Also, definitely order the orange juice from the algarvian oranges. It was so sweet! The place is very cozy and the staff really friendly. All in all a great experience.

We always enjoy our meals here. Small restaurant with great food. Make sure you make a reservation since it’s a bit smaller inside. They make everything fresh when you order, so it can be a bit of a wait but totally worth it. We always get whatever mushroom appetizer they have, and it’s our favorite part of every meal. The pumpkin mushroom risotto is good. The vegan fish soup was okay, but the risotto really over shined it. I generally prefer vegan dishes that aren’t remakes of non vegan food, but this restaurant does a really nice job of making traditional Portuguese dishes (which are usually animal based) vegan. So if you would like to try traditional Portuguese dishes done vegan this is the place to go! They have great wine recommendations as well. We like to get a bit of a nicer bottle when we go out, so we usually pick one in the 20-25€ range. The bottle pictured here was really nice, not acidic tasting, and a really nice aroma.

Best vegan Restaurant in Faro! The flavours are amazing. I tried several appetizers and my favourite were the alheira balls. I also really enjoyed their tofu fish, the cheesecake and the white sangria!! People working there are very friendly. Must visit when in Faro!

This was a really great vegan take on classic Portuguese dishes. I didn't know all of them, but they were tasty regardless. We had the Francesinha and the Shank. The later was a bit better. Even though it was a bit salty. The octopus salad we had as a starter was alright, but nothing special. Also tasted nothing like octopus. But that's to be expected I guess. The service staff was a bit stressed and had a child running around the restaurant. He was brought up to his room after a while though, which eased the stress level a bit. Still we had to wait a bit for our food. I felt a bit sorry for them since they seemed so overworked.

As not vegan or vegetarian, I am telling you this was an absolutely amazing experience!!! Ruben is the most positive and welcoming host. Food is very delicious. We had to wait for quite some time to get a table, but it worth every minute of it! And yes, white sangria tastes like from another planet!

Had the chance to check Outro Lado out. I was recommended to order the Portugese Fish Stew. The flavors of the stew is delicious, gobbled each bite and sip of stew. The restaurant decor is very nice all the way to the green bathroom. The owner Ruben was a very nice gentleman who offered a lot of great insight into each dish.

a really nice place and I have to admit as a meat eater: I didn't miss the meat. we had all the starters except the "cheese plate" only thing: stop giving your meals meat dish names! (old vegan - meat eater discussion...I know)

This little gem is located conveniently in the city centre of Faro. The place is nearly clean and beautifully decorated. The menu features regional dishes - of course all vegan! This is what makes this restaurant so special for me, it's not the typical vegan food, it's regional dishes and everything we tried was super delicious. The owner of the restaurant came to each table to talk about the dishes and to welcome his guests, that was a very nice touch which remained in our memories. If we get back to Faro some day, we'll be definitely visiting Outro Lado again.

  • 5/5 Sophia M. 2 years ago on Google
A super nice place to eat local dishes in the vegan version! Also for non vegetarians/vegans the hamburgers are really special as they are made with spirulina so they are light blue. The sangria is one of the best we tasted here in the area so it is totally worth a try! In total we would recommend going here as the owner and staff were also very nice and it was all super tasty

Amazing authentic Portuguese food. All vegan and plant based. Service is very quick and friendly. Try the "octopus" salad, a traditional algarve favourite. Try and figure out what the octopus is made of, I'm sure you'll be surprised! If you're meat free or plant based you should definitely try this spot to taste some local dishes!
