A greasy spoon that has embraced modernity and blossomed into a culinary institution. Would you like Korn or Linda McCartney sausages with your vegetarian breakfast? Brown bread toast? The locals love it and you will too.

Very busy when I arrived 9n the 27.11.21. Possibly due to Wetherspoons being closed or more likely the quality of the food. I had the small breakfast for £4.85 and was allowed to swap the bacon and sausage for two veggie sausages. Plenty of choice in this friendly licenced cafe. Pot of tea £1.75. Will return.

Came in for a nice breakfast and loved it, the coffee was lovely and the staff were very pleasant. The best part about the breakfast was that the fat on the bacon was perfectly cooked and crispy too so that was an absolute treat. Will definitely be coming back here again soon.

Lovely cafe with inside and outside seating. Good choice of food. We had a Prawn sandwich plus bacon & brie sandwich which were very tasty and had loads of filling. Really good coffee too. The staff were friendly and very helpful

I have never had a bad experience here and I've been coming for about 10 years. The food is just lovely, especially the breakfast. I stayed in a 5 star hotel recently and the breakfast at the kitchen was 100 times better. Highly recommend.

I ordered a sausage and Egg sandwich. Took one bite. I left the rest. It defo was not a British sausage that's for sure. I will not be eating there again. It also took 25 minutes to receive my sandwich. At the time there was only one other couple in there .

Be prepared to wait a long time for your order. food quality is good apart from the sausages, can get busy at times. Prices are quite high for an average portion and it's a chav magnet some mornings.

We had the small breakfast which actually wasn't small, but just the right size portions. The quality of the breakfast was better than many I have had in hotels. Glad we found it, and will definitely go back again.

I'd walked by this place many times from the train station, on my way from there throught the town. This was the first time I felt able to visit for one reason or another, but usually time related. It had caught my eye because it was bright and cheerfully decorated and was always busy. So, I was a bit excited to finally have the chance to visit. It was early on a sunny and warm Saturday. I had my dog with me and we sat outside on a pretty little roadside table. I went in to order. The place was very tidy and clean and there was plenty of staff available. We exchanged pleasantries, I ordered a cooked breakfast and a tea. I was delighted that the tea came in a pot. I also ordered a sandwich to go. The road was quiet and all that passed us was mainly pedestrians. My server dropped the tea out to us, noted my dog, and brought out a bowl of water for him. I thought that a lovely, thoughtful touch. The breakfast arrived shortly afterwards. It was cooked as ordered and the ingredients were better than the usual inner-city breakfast, although that is reflected in the price. The mushrooms were fresh, not frozen, the bacon was thick, and not the common slice of ham disguised as bacon. We polished the plate (my dog helped me with the sausages). I collected the sandwich and drooled at the cakes while I waited for it the be fetched from the kitchen. I must add that the toilets were clean but compact. I mention this because I've been to many places where the front of house has been maintained but where the toilets are far from clean, making me wonder what the kitchen must be like. I'll stop by another day to see what it's like in the afternoon. It's definitely a place I'd like to return to.

Really disappointed. The only good thing was the iced coffee. The food is massively overpriced for what you get put infront of you. Whatever fat they used to cook the bacon and sausages in was burnt as the sausages and bacon were covered in black bits. I get they have busy periods but it took 25 minutes for mine and my other halves drink to come to the table. Another 25 minutes for food but what annoyed me is we ordered bacon and sausage sandwiches yet people who came in 10-15 minutes after us ordered fried breakfasts and received their food a while before ours. The tables were sticky and horrid to sit at. There were no napkins provided unless you had food you needed to use a knife and fork for. Sorry but people eating breakfast sandwiches need napkins too…. Don’t waste your time honestly the positive reviews must be one offs. Also the bacon had a funny smell I didn’t even eat it just took it out and gave to my step son.

Rang in advance to place a large order for the office. We advised then it would be for 25+ people. At no point did anyone mention any menu restrictions when we gave the order in advance. The woman decided to call and then argue with my colleague stating it was out fault and cancelled the order. Really poor service. If you aren't capable then just say rather than arguing with someone that would rather give a small business the money. Awful Service.

First time visit for me and my partner, we went just as it opened so the room was chilly. I had vegetarian breakfast, partner had full english. Food was cooked fresh to order and was delicious, all washed down with a nice cup of tea. Cheap too, around £6-7 for the brekkies.

Al fresco dining only at the moment as we come out of lockdown. Great to be back. Super size portion of liver and bacon. Lite bites very good value. New vegan options like tomato and chick pea curry with rice delicious. Chicken madras curry OK too.

Seems that this place is very popular with those seeking a full English breakfast but I went for the hot chicken and bacon salad which was perfect. Will certainly be going again:)

I absolutely adore The Kitchen 😄 have been coming here for years and the service, food and atmosphere of this cute cafe never fail to disappoint! My friend and I have monthly catch ups here and are always so excited when it approaches as it means we get another brunch trip to The Kitchen ☕️ They have the absolute friendliest team here and I have never felt uncomfortable being there. Also, their Malteser cheesecake is the most amazing thing ever!!
