This was easily the most relaxing experience I’ve ever had, in my lifetime. My girlfriend and I hired a local, and we were able to grab a boat directly to the Muyil lagoon, skipping the tours and groups. We took a boat through a pretty large lake, into a narrow canal with just incredible views of nature…finally arriving to the float river. We floated for what felt like alittle over an hour, through the natural twists and turns of the reserve. The water was incredibly comfortable. The natural current literally just pushes you along, as you float wearing a life jacket as a “diaper”. It really is a unique and serene experience. After you complete the float, you do have to walk back through a somewhat long and sketchy wooden plank to get back to the boat, but it’s worth it. I would not miss the opportunity to come here. Seriously! Search “Muyil River Float” and you can do it as a group, or hire somebody locally on the roadside to go alone/with your family.

I almost don’t want to leave a review because I fear too many people will go to this place and ruin it. The lagoons and mangrove forests are an incredibly special place. The float was definitely one of the most wonderful experiences I have had! So peaceful and unusual. Our guide Ricardo was so informative and a genuinely great man! Don’t wear sunscreen or lotions if you do the float! Gotta keep those mangroves healthy!

It was fun, but expect to fork out 1000 pesos (50+ USD) pp for a short boat ride and 45 min float. If you don't mind that, you will enjoy this! On a cloudy day it's less spectacular so make sure to go on a sunny one.

This area is beautiful, clear blue waters. We paid 50$ for entry. You get a motor boat across the amazing blue lagoon then float down the lazy river through the mangroves. A very relaxing experience. I think the payment also includes the ruins but we didn’t see those as we arrived late and they close at 3. A little pricey but a great experience.

Nice location but actually the price is too high for what you get. It's just a quick boat trip to the Maya canal where you have some time to float on the water by yourself, which actually is a cool experience. During the boat trip there are no explanations or things you would expect from a guide, so much potential in it which is not used.

Unique experience! It was so relaxing to float along the river, see the beautiful lagoon and hear the stories from our local guide Pastor (Indigena Maya Ecotours). We had the whole river and lagoon for ourselves. We will come back!

A nice place to spend an 1.5h of your time. Nature is beautiful. Not sure about the whole motorboat concept.

Beautiful nature. The tour cost us 1000 pesos per person. We traveled by small boat across two lagoons, mangroves, and through Maya made canals. You can also float down a section of the canal and see fishes.

Beautiful scenery and connection to Mayan history. Two large fresh water lakes connected by a hand-dug Mayan canal!

Beautiful scenery - favorite part of my visit. Flowering down the canals here is a must.
