Upon entering The Anvil, a close friend of mine was routinely asked to show ID. Being the 25-year-old, fully legal, permanent IL resident that they are, they proceeded to show their valid driver’s license. The bartender asked for the address on the license, to which the address was correctly recited to the bartender. After being seated for approximately 10 minutes, the bartender approached the table and stated “I thought I gave you enough time to get out of here.” Apparently the bartender was unable to properly identify a legitimate IL driver’s license and almost snapped it and half prior to quite literally throwing it back at my friend. The manager was made aware of the situation and stated “I trust his judgement.” He should have said lack of judgement considering, once again, the individual in question was quite literally a 25 year old patron. The service received was absolutely grotesque and there was absolutely no reason to approach the matter with such hostility. Lots of bars and restaurants in the town of Findlay, go elsewhere for better treatment, beverages, food, and service. 0/10.

The bartender was incredibly rude and unprofessional. As soon as we sat down, the bartender came over, threw menus on the table, and said "IDs." No greeting whatsoever. After checking our IDs, he left us waiting between 10-15 minutes before coming back to say, "Can I see your ID again? I thought I gave you enough time to leave." Perhaps we didn't leave because we were of legal drinking age? 25 years old, to be exact. He stated he's never seen an Illinois driver's license before (which is weird for a bartender to admit) and that I would have better luck trying it out somewhere else. He then threw my legitimate license across the table. Furthermore, when this was brought to the manager, they were dismissive and stated they trusted their bartender's judgement. Customer service is not a priority here. It is evident that they don't value their customers or take any responsibility for the unprofessional and discriminatory behavior of their staff. I would advise others to think twice before giving them their business. The lack of respect and human decency is truly embarrassing. I give them 1 star for letting me keep my license so I can drive back to Illinois lol

Refuses adults who look young despite having a valid ID. Poor training in identifying ID’s from out of state.

Absolutely fabulous bar!!!! Gay friendly and some hot young men there! I prefer older men but the younger crowd was definitely classy. I'd go there again to meet with friends. I'm not to sure about meeting there alone but if you see me there say hi!!

Really cool and chill atmosphere. Great place to relax with friends and grab a drink. Limited food menu but really not there for the food. Even more fun when they have live entertainment. Love sitting on the balcony on warm summer nights.

Good drinks, quiet atmosphere. I wish more people knew about this place but I'm also glad there weren't that many people there 🤣

This place was cute, we sat outside on the patio but were protected from direct sun. Google said it doesn't open until 7p on Saturday, but it actually opened at 5, so we had trouble getting one of the 3 tables on the patio. The service was ok, I think it was one girl serving all tables so she was stretched really thin. They had live music, which was nice, and the food looked good. We got the pizza after a recommendation, but I wouldn't get it again if I go back

food was great, service was lacking. literally, they told us there was “no service” that night when we walked in. we’re from out of town but family we were with said this was not normal, but coincidentally they were busier than they’d ever seen (all tables full after we sat down, 3 large parties total). we were never greeted and the guy had to walk by our table numerous times to deliver other food, it’s a pretty small place so you’d expect to be greeted and let us know there’s “no service,” at the very least. instead we sat around for 10 minutes then went to the bar and were then informed we had to order all food and drinks from there. it’s hard to imagine how people presumably working for tips think they’ll still earn tips from not doing anything to actually earn them?? anyway, the food saved the day as the pizza and fries were phenomenal.

One of the best dining experiences I've had in Findlay. The staff, atmosphere, and food (filet) were all incredible. The staff were clearly all cross-trained and could help anyone with anything. Amazing drink selection as well. Was there for a party, will be coming for dinner and drinks next time I'm in town!

Don't waste your money. There are so many better places downtown. We were really looking forward to seeing Barefoot Ben, but were turned away. We walked in at 9 pm and sat at open seats at the bar. We sat for about 10 to 15 minutes when we were told by bartender that seats were reserved...there were coasters reserving seats. No signs. No drinks. No coats. No signs of anyone. No offer to help find a seat. Just asked to vacate seats. I'll spend my money at locally owned establishments who appreciate the locals.

The only reason they got 1 star was they had a good selection of bourbon. Walked in, no one there, bartender playing rap music Very loud and pretty much ignoring me. This is a whiskey bar, not a college dance club...Not cool. Get a better bartender and maybe I'll give it another try.

The food taste great and was cooked to specification. They were out of a lot of items on the menu, and it was incredibly slower than average wait times, even for drinks. A huge opportunity here, just missed the mark tonight.
