I’ve been to The Sett a couple of times since I’ve been a student at UW, but until today, have only really tried their burgers (which are decent enough). I honestly wish I hadn’t decided to branch out and try their boneless chicken wings with garlic parmesan sauce, because it was one of the most bizarre eating experiences I’ve had. The wings have the consistency of tofu and taste like the most subpar popcorn chicken. Not only this, but the sauce weirdly tastes like cream of mushroom soup, and has the same thickness. I’ve had better experiences eating Rhetas buffet-style sushi at 4pm than this. Besides the aforementioned chicken incident, I don’t have too many complains. The staff are wonderful, food gets done in a reasonable time, and most of their other food is pretty on par with the rest of the university restaurants. Just whatever you do, don’t get the chicken.

First time ordering here at Sett. Wasn't in the mood for a burger, so I went to try their new Buffalo Chicken Wrap. I'm glad to see they have a grilled option, as I cannot consume alcohol in any form (all their fried items are beer-battered). However, that does include their fries, hence why I got carrots and celery. The wrap itself was about decent. For some reason, I wasn't expecting a cold sandwich. As in, the sandwich came from the refrigerator to my plate. The fact that it took 15 minutes and it wasn't even hot is really interesting... It was alright, but I think I'll order a burger next time.

The food is decent, and they sometimes have events like trivia nights or live music. Additionally, the bowling alley and game room is great fun for a group hangout. However, they sometimes have limited options for the items on their menu, and usually if you arrive at 7pm or later, they only serve drinks and appetizers (fries, cheese curds, etc.).

“Limited menu” means almost nothing but chicken tenders and fries. I’m trying to eat healthy and couldn’t get carrots and celery. Beer taps shut down. I guess I’ll have a piece of cream pie for dinner.

Ordered a mushroom Swiss burger with sweet onion fries. It was delicious! Giving this place a 3.0 because the table was sticky and unclean. But I did return another time for a chicken sandwich and fries. The food was good!

In general, pretty good food. During the late Fall, Winter, and early Spring, I wish the doors to the patio were ‘Emergency Exits Only’ that could not be opened from outside. Every time one of these doors is opened, if dining in the Sett, you get hit with a blast of cold air. With my unsteady hands, I cannot carry those featherweight cardboard trays up to the 2nd level without spilling/dropping food or drink just to avoid the cold drafts.

I really dig their beer battered fries, especially paired with the special sett sauce. This place is right in the student union so there is often a lot of traffic going in and out, but if you're looking for a quick, greasy bite to eat, this is the place to be!

I’m downgrading my previous rating of 4 stars to 3 because: 1. With revised menu, the Spicy Catfish sandwich (one of the best choices) and Bratwurst (now really, this is Wisconsin!) are no longer available. 2. The long standing issue of patrons being hit with a blast of cold air every time a door to the patio is opened when it’s not warm outside has been completely ignored. Making these Emergency Exits only during the late Fall, Winter, and early Spring is NOT something that is very expensive! I’m sure NOBODY likes being hit with a blast of cold air regardless of age, gender, status on campus, and other attributes. (This is Wisconsin, not Florida!)

Somewhat pricey but good food, noisy but a good place to meet if you're in the area or have a large social group from the University. Occasionally have shows and live bands, almost always have background music and a huge TV for sports.
