I've been a Lenny and Joe's fan since I can remember and have gone to all their existing and previous locations. Today after debating where to eat I told everyone Joe and Lenny's Madison would be the perfect choice. We ordered a large amount of food including lobster bisque, fried calamari, fish and shrimp. Everything looked ok but it wasn't, the food was bland and lacked flavor and texture and to be honest it was an oily mess. I will rate this particular experience 2 stars because of my past experiences with other items on the menu but today the food and experience was truly not good. I look forward to editing this review next time I visit Lenny and Joe's.

Although they have the traditional fried fish at the beach, we were pleasantly surprised that there were food choices that were broiled or sauteed, not too salty and certainly plentiful. New England clam chowder was surprisingly good, and finally a chowder without bacon. Soft shell crabs were nice, only dish that wasn't very large. Scallops and shrimp dish with brown rice and vegetables was quite good and there was plenty to eat. Salmon was large and the soy ginger sauce was good according to the person who had it. After you get seated (lots of outdoor picnic tables), someone from your table goes up to one of two windows to order. The line wasn't too long when we were there, and it moved pretty quickly. Then they bring the food to your table.

Place is always great. Good atmosphere for the family. We go a couple times a year for the seafood and ice cream. The scallops and clam straps never disappoint. They also have great burgers

Stopped in for a late lunch before heading home from the beach. Loved the covered outside seating and ability to order outside. My daughter had the kids fried fish. I had a small bite and it was good. She ate all of her fish. I had a salad with lobster meat ontop. I was surprised at the generous portions of meat. There were 2 claws and 2 small whole tails. The tails were a little dry but the claws were excellent. I wish there was a regular cold lobster roll on the menu and they only gave us one fork for 2 meals. We headed around the back and got some ice cream before leaving. The soft serve was delicious and very stiff so it didn't melt as quickly on a hot day. My daughter tried a soft serve cone for the first time and loved it!

Summary: A casual dining version of the famous seafood shack in Madison, CT. The seafood is always fresh and seasoned perfectly. The location has great ambiance and great service. Must Try: Triple play fried combination with fried scrod, calamari, and shrimp. Also recommended: Fried scallops and clam strips. Avoid: N/A ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Outstanding, worth a special excursion

This place is awesome. Best fried oysters and clam bellies around. They also have the best hot lobster roll around (roll toasted perfectly and never soggy). I go every chance I get. Great happy hour (50 cent oysters anyone?) and beer selection. The bar is fun; the outdoor seating is great; service is always fantastic. It's right on the water. Great bang for your buck. Portions are good; prices are fine. For once, you're not getting screwed by a seafood place. I'll be back soon. Looking forward to trying the hot crab roll.

We had lunch and ate outside at Lenny and Joe's Fish Tales! The calamari was perfectly crispy and incredibly flavorful. We also tried the Fish Tales dinner, which was a generous portion and left us completely satisfied. The variety of seafood on the plate was impressive, and everything was cooked to perfection. The best part was that there was plenty of food to share among our group. The service was attentive, and the ambiance was cozy. I would highly recommend Lenny and Joe's for seafood lovers!

The location isn't great. Yes, it's on the water, but the view isn't nice, and the location is kind of a dirty failed industrial area. The restaurant itself isn't very aesthetically attractive. The dining room lights are bright white like a conference room. The bar area is much better to sit. Our waiter was super nice and energetic/fidgety and probably on coke. It was only 9pm when we came in, and the hostess complained that they were about to close. This was a Saturday. We also weren't permitted to sit outside, despite the nice weather. Various employees complained loudly that they wanted to leave. We ordered a few large lobster rolls, and they were good, but I've definitly had better. The bread wasn't very flavorful, and the lobster was quite chewy and without any sauce. The accompaniments of onion rings were the BEST I've ever had. Coleslaw is good. The lobster bisque is fantastic, and we were told they make it in house. The staff liked to hang at the bar, and there were sketchy people coming in and out. The bathrooms were clean, and there is lots of parking in the parking lot.

The paper plate and paper cups suggests that this restaurant really shines in the warmer months. I am glad that they are still open during winter when we visited. The broiled fresh cod was tender and fresh. The sundae was a pleasant surprise because it was flavorful without tasting too sweet.

Always love coming here as seafood quality is extremely fresh. Huge venue with quick service. Portion sizes are rather large too so plenty for leftovers. I enjoyed the crab cakes as well as the lobster roll

Ice Cream Shack! We went to Lenny and Joe’s just for ice cream and had their special vanilla chocolate swirl with added fudge. We ate it in seconds. It’s outdoor seating, plenty of picnic tables around. Two ice creams about $11, cash only. Not the fanciest place but pretty good for quick outing and on budget. Plenty of parking too. There is carousel for kids. Next time planing to try seafood.

I've been coming to Lenny & Joe's for years. Their food is always fantastic! I tried their soft shell crab special. I've never had soft shell crab before but let me say I will definitely have it again. The venue is not overly fancy and kid friendly. Seating inside and outside. L & J know how to do seafood right, especially their fried foods. Thanks for always doing a great job!

Met our family from other parts of CT and one part of the family drove from NYC! The lobster roll was fresh, and the fried calamari was good. I loved the soft served vanilla ice cream on a cone with sprinkles. Other options looked yummy, too!

Not a bad restaurant in the sense of atmosphere and service. A bit on the ridiculous side that you were served at a table, a drink was served and refills were charged at the same as an original order for a drink. Might be nice if the refill was at a minimum less than the original you ordered. Food was decent. The lobster roll was alright. Lobster was cooked well, but for the price at least expects an actual roll (not a giant piece of toast grilled into a taco-ish shape) and a little more lump like meat. The lobster was a little more like shreds of meat. Atmosphere was pretty neat, I can see why it’s busy with locals and tourists.

Great service our waitress was very polite and nice. The food was pretty good nothing that blew my socks off or anything but I will say the coleslaw was one of the best I've ever had. The view is amazing from the outside seating area. All in all this place is awesome I will definitely return.

This place never disappoints. Been coming here year after year and I still get the same quality meal at every visit. The scallops are my favorite. Always so sweet and delicious. Thanks for being a Madison landmark I can count on when I visit.

Always love stopping here! Love the options to sit outside or inside and the fact that this one is order at the window (to go style) is super convenient when heading to or from the beach or with kids! Lobster roll and whole belly clams are my favorite!

Definitely stop in here for some great seafood. We love to go after a long day at the beach. Kids can enjoy the merry-go-round & have delicious ice cream outside.

Little different since covid. You enter in the rear of the building. (Not the front entrance) Tons of outside seating, with umbrellas for shade. 3pm was less busy, and like all places prices went up! Food was delicious and waitress came back a few times asking if we needed anything. You don't stand in line and get your own order anymore. Lobster roll/slaw & Fried scallop and clams/onion rings.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. They added fried pickles to their menu, and they were amazing! This was also my grandpas (RIP) favorite restaurant so it’s a sentimental place for me ♥️ Their food is phenomenal along with their service!!

Update: I go once a month and it’s worth the hour drive. I love the service and location. Can stop by after IKEA! Pictured is the lobster and shrimp casserole, the lobster Mac and cheese, and a pick 3 seafood platter. *Great location. Great lobster roll. Great service!

Fresh good food. Portions large enough for 2 meals. Unfortunately closing the New Haven location very soon. RI clam chowder, loved the shrimp & calamari wild rice with Sister Sally's coleslaw. Yummy! Will have to go up to Madison or Westbrook locations to get such wonderful food and service. Ivan M was our attentive server.

Honestly disappointing. Started with the calamari. Although it was fresh, the batter was so full of grease and oil it made it undesirable. I guess I was expecting a lighter crisper coating. Then I went with the regular size lobster mac and cheese with fries and wild rice. The total amount of mac and cheese that arrived on the plate may have added up to 1-1.5 cups, total....maybe. There was twice as many fries as mac and cheese, felt like it should have been called a french fry plate with lobster mac and cheese and wild rice for sides. The wild rice was excellent, though. The best word I can think of to describe the food is mediocre. Service was good, but I will not be returning.

Pretty good food and a great view of the water! I will say that the veggies with the lobster roll were subpar. They looked almost microwaved from a frozen bag. Other than that they have good pricing for lobster. Hope this helps!
