Love this house, such a Flint gem! Had a tour today & the tour guide (can't remember his name 😭) was very knowledgeable and kept the history of the house very interesting for my family, even the kids! They left saying how much fun it was! It had the mourning theme which was also interesting to see how people mourned back in the day. Looking forward to the Christmas decor!

To all history and museum lovers, you must visit this classic, late 1800’s, beautifully-appointed Victorian Home owned by Robert Whaley and Mary McFarland-Whaley in Flint, Michigan as it is a hidden gem. This is a museum that you must add to your list of places to visit. This historic museum is staged with family-owned and sentimental artifacts and illustrates the history this family experienced and brought to Flint during a time of significant change. This is a place that should be added on the list of places to visit in Genesee County, Michigan. The Executive Director provided an enthusiastic, informative, private and detailed tour of the home. The home can be toured privately by appointment or it is open to the public on the first and third Saturday every month from 11 am - 2 pm. The Whaley Historic House Museum can be rented for events and meetings and or you can attend various, entertaining programs such as Victorian Teas and Game nights. I visited the Whaley Museum at Christmas time and some of the florists and designers beautifully staged the museum for the holiday season. You can tour the museum as a guest, become a donor and member or even a volunteer. Wonderful tour by the docent/director, Samantha Engle. I was there at Christmas- time, and it was decorated wonderfully. Samantha's knowledge of the house and Flint history was superb.

The house is absolutely gorgeous and a hidden gem in the community. They host board game nights and tea parties which bring new life to the city. I can't wait to see the future of Whaley while they continue to honor the past. Their Director, Justin, is also a gem!! If you like History, you should definitely check it out!
