It is great and pleasant place for studying, reading, refreshing. I cannot skip to mention the lady, Mz. Usini is always supportive for making me feel comfortable there. Also, you can enjoy the fresh coffee. The best Americano in Florence. What at extraordinary! She created some cafe menus whenever I wanted. She is a queen of customer focus for cafe and language programs. I am enjoying my Italian lesson as well. She prepared words and expression material with picture and coat by herself. She delivered beyond my expectations.

We are English speakers with children on an extended stay in Florence and wanted to learn basic Italian to improve our experience and interactions. English Well Spoken tailor made a course to suit our itinerary and needs perfectly. We had a great experience in store with Usini and found her incredibly professional, helpful and supportive. We received updated information by email each week to support our studies. Our teacher Chiara was absolutely brilliant and pitched the course perfectly to the whole family. She is a great teacher and super friendly and loves Florence and teaching. It was well structured and informative but most importantly fun and enjoyable, we had a lot of laughs and learned some good basic phrases. The venue is easily accessible and close to transport and cafes. The kids looked forward to the course each week. We had a great overall experience and highly recommend the store and school to anyone considering improving their English or Italian!! Thank you

I worked for English Well Spoken for two years, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and work environment. The school’s methodology allows teachers to be adaptable and innovative, tailoring their teaching methods to individual students, or group class dynamics. The experience really helped me to grow and develop as a teacher. There are opportunities to teach a wide variety of different students of all ages, with different levels, needs and reasons for learning English, from ‘play and learn’ classes for young kids, general conversation groups, exam prep, through to corporate clients and focused business English. All the students are keen to learn and participate, and I’ll miss them, the other teachers and the school, now that I’m moving on. Good luck for the future (and thank you for the support) to Usini, Chiara and all the students and teachers!

I've loved my experience at EWS, and I learn something new every single time I go in. The lesson structures are organic, and each instructor makes sure the course develops with the student at its center, rather than adhering to a strict set of rules with no room to grow or change. I highly recommend this school to anyone thinking of improving their English-- you'll walk away not only with knowledge of grammar and sentence construction, but the ability and confidence to speak English in real-life situations.

English Well Spoken is a wonderful place to learn English in Florence. Classes use fun activities and interesting conversations to make learning English easier and more exciting. They make sure students feel comfortable and confident as English speakers. They also have a tea room and bookshop, which is a really nice touch. It makes out-of-classroom activities, like Film Nights or English/American Breakfasts, more engaging and fun as opportunities to learn English.

I wanted to preface this review with the statement that I never write reviews. In fact, I think this is my first! But I just wanted to share my experience so that others don't get caught in the very devastating situation that I found myself in. I worked for English Well Spoken for a couple months last year and was never paid for my work. I was paid once for the first two weeks, but when I ended my employment there, I made sure to confirm with Usini Naidoo that I would still receive compensation for my work and provided all the necessary bank details. I made sure to confirm this because I had been warned by other teachers in Florence that she has a reputation of not paying her employees. But honestly, I didn't want to believe that because despite other unprofessional encounters with her, I wanted to believe that she wouldn't be so immoral as to take advantage of people like that. She responded and said that I would of course get paid. However, when the next pay period came around, I received nothing. It was close to Christmas, so I decided to give Usini the benefit of the doubt and assume it was just late. On December 26th, I emailed Usini, asking to be compensated for my work. She responded on January 3rd that she sent the payment, but since I didn't receive it, she would check with the bank. On January 8th she said payments often don't go through and she would check the statements. On January 16th she said that she would make another payment. January 16th was the last that I heard from Usini. I sent many emails after January 16th asking to be paid with absolutely no response and no payment. I am honestly still shocked that a professional woman could be so incredibly immoral and take advantage of people like that. I worked 49.5 hours without getting paid and she still owes me 742.5 Euros. 742.5!!! So much money that I was counting on for rent and groceries. I also want to note: The employees I worked with at English Well Spoken were kind and wonderful and I absolutely loved my students while working there. But, if you are looking for a job, absolutely do not work at English Well Spoken. I would recommend looking into the American Institute if you are looking for work or kind people to know in Florence! (Ps. When I worked there, I was asked multiple times to write a "5 star review" for the company. That could be why there are such high ratings.) Florence is a beautiful place full of vibrant, incredible people and should not be sullied by a really terrible work experience with Usini Naidoo at English Well Spoken. I have avoided writing this for so long because I don't enjoy writing negative things. But, when I applied to work at English Well Spoken I had NO idea what I was getting into. Maybe this review will help someone find a company that actually values the work that their employees contribute.

This Teashop, Bookstore and English School is one of Florence's true hidden gems People will be queuing outside to get in when it is found out!!! We accidently fell across it and we spent a couple of hours there savouring the freshly baked clotted cream scones and tea served in china cups and tea pots. Usini, the amazing owner who is an English Teacher, and is well travelled, is now settled in Florence. She is a fabulous chef and makes all her cakes and savoury dishes herself. Whatever you want she will do it for you. She even made especially for us the best ever green juices & smoothies. They were so good that we went back to have some more before we left!! On top of all this, Usini also runs an English bookshop and there is a wonderful school setting attached to the bookshop and tearoom where students of all ages can learn perfect English and/or Italian. While we were there we meet one of her Teachers, Samantha, whose vibrant energy is contagious and, just like Usini, she loves to teach. A place not to be missed!
