Firenze Santa Maria Novella

Train station β€’ Bus stop β€’ Transit station

🫀 Nice station with good options in terms of stores. Few places to sit down, only 1x toilet near line 5 costing 1€ per person and not very clean. Thank me later for this ADVICE / TIP: - FREE Lounge with Wi-Fi and toilets (for free), just cross the street, enter Diplomat Hotel Florence and go upstairs... People often mention station, train, Florence, easy, people, busy, city,

Nice station. Looks great with too many people. The floor is made out of marbles. The only weird thing is, the name of the station is not written anywhere. So it can be confusing as well.

This is THE train station if you're going in or out of Florence. The ticket booths are right in front but do vary by train company so be sure you go to the right one. Terminals one and two are located on the far left of everything and not easily seen. Trains are very frequent but still arrive early just in case.

Nice train station. I love the old decor. Few restaurants and places to get drinks. Easy access to trains. Taxi stand right out front. Really close to center of Florence. Love the train spotting here….

Firenze Santa Maria Novella, often the first glimpse of Florence for visitors arriving by train, is an experience that harmoniously blends historical grandeur with modern functionality. As a Canadian tourist, I was immediately struck by the station's impressive facade, showcasing the elegant and streamlined Italian modernist architecture. Inside, the station is bustling yet well-organized, providing a welcoming gateway to the city's wonders. The convenience of its location cannot be overstated. Situated right in the heart of Florence, it is a stone's throw away from some of the most iconic sights. A short walk leads you to the stunning Duomo, the picturesque Ponte Vecchio, and countless other Renaissance treasures. The station itself, while a hub of activity, maintains a sense of calm order, making navigation easy for travelers, even those who might not speak Italian. What I particularly appreciated was the blend of old and new. The station has all the modern amenities you'd expect β€” from shopping options to a variety of dining choices β€” yet it never loses its distinctly Florentine character. The nearby Piazza Santa Maria Novella, with its beautiful basilica, provides a serene spot to relax and soak in the ambiance of Florence. Overall, Firenze Santa Maria Novella is more than just a transit point; it's a delightful introduction to the charm and beauty of Florence. As a Canadian used to more modern transportation hubs, the combination of efficient service, historical architecture, and the proximity to some of the world's most renowned art and architecture was truly memorable.

Very busy station. But plenty of shops, stalls and cafes to rival a shopping centre. Easy to buy tickets on the self service machines and staff are happy to help with queries from lost or unsure travels/tourists. Train fares are also very reasonable.

I couldn't find a seat at the station. Old style, pretty. The "biglietteria" works well and fast.

I was nervous to use a train for the first time in Italy on my own but this station is not overwhelming or complicated. Boards are clear and tracks are easy to find, it's relatively small and I didn't feel unsafe in any way.

Firenze is a beautiful and big city. Everything good. Railway station is situated at the Center of the city. Not very Big railway station.. Easy to catch bus, and tram.. Language is the problem. Easy to go to Pisa tower from here. People didn't speak English.. So its little tough.. But get the mobile date is on every time in your mobile... Otherwise too much strain... So be carefull about the language..

As train stations go, this is a pretty nice one. They ask you to arrive 20 minutes ahead of time and 10 minutes prior to your scheduled departure, they sign your gate. We booked Italo train from Florence to Venice, such took just over 2 hours to get there. Italo has a lounge where you can hang out, have a drink and snack and use the restroom. It is immediately to your right when entering the station. There were a lot of people in the Thursday we were there, but it appeared to be organized chaos. Everyone would stand and wait for their gate assignment and then sickle to their appropriate gate and car listing, which was assigned ahead of time on our ticket. We paid up for first class and had slightly better seats, we requested window seats and these were better than the others, in our estimation. The porters came by a couple of times to offer us drinks, a basic lunch of a sandwich, chips, cookies, coffee or drinks. Other than the initial cramming on of people and bags, which was not will organized, at all, the trip was smooth and uneventful. There were two other people in our seats, who eventually had to move. I would definitely recommend printing your confirmations, it was helpful to us in this situation.

The great city of Florence, a travel destination for travelers from all over the world, definitely deserves a better central train station. This is my drop for the improvement: 1. to improve the appearance of the station, 2. to build a waiting room and toilets, 3. install more ticket machines, 4. To establish service to support customers on approaches to platforms, tickets purchases, 5. Send your business development team to travel to Dubai for inspiration and experience. The existing shopping center below and the book store are definitely. in plus. Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year!

Very crowded station Florence or Firenze SMN. Trains from here connect to almost full of Europe. Very systematic and clean station Most of the trains here are on schedule and the boards have clear instructions for the same

As your guide, I recommend reading everything very carefully before buying tickets. This one is the T1 Tram, which is the one passing by the street, do not go into the station, it is 1.7€ Nov2023(might change in the future). Pay attention to validate INSIDE of the Tram, you will see that yellow machine, you just put the ticket into the machine and the machine will print the day's date, as you can see in the picture. I took this one to go to the Station Villa Costanza, which another connection station for train and buses. I took this one to come back from Pisa and go to Bologna. You will hear the voice saying each station name aloud, so it's easy Be careful when buying tickets in the travel agencies webpages, because the stations are not close sometimes and the travel webpages selling tickets from other cities, sometimes do not offer the closest stations to the city . Enjoy the trip !

Nostalgic place to begin with upon arriving the city of Florence. Restaurants are handy and worth noting that you have to prepare a euro to use the toilets.

Very nice train station. Easy to navigate. Helpful staff. Very very busy! (July 2022)

Small station and easy to navigate. The boards are big, and you can clearly see the schedule of arriving and departing trains. There are also a lot of stores and a few restos inside the station, but there were only a few benches outside where you can wait without ordering something.

Quiet a busy bustling station. We came from hilton hotel and reached the other side. Apparently the main station is on top at the end of the tracks. Ticket machine only accepts card. Info are displayed and easy to buy ticket. But its packed with people. And no place to sit

Small and busy station but there is nowhere to sit. You need to pay for business class to use the lounge but the regular plebeians just have to stand for hours waiting for the train. Despite being non-smoking, cigarette smoke constantly wafts in. Furthermore, the toilets downstairs next to the parking lot charges a whopping 1 euro to use.

Very busy station mostly tourist with cases not knowing where they're heading! Trains themselves are reasonably price. It's very easy to use the multi lingual automated machines, however, staff are on hand to help if needed. Check for ID before accepting any help otherwise you may find yourself being pestered for money.

It does its job and it is easy to find the track where your train is "parked". Still, it feels very cramped and it is somewhat uncomfortable. There are food and coffee options around and it is very close to the city center. There are also many different hotels nearby so it is easy to just walk from the station to your hotel.

Great station. Very easy to acess. But unfortunately no chairs to seat.

Overall a good station! It is clean and organized with sufficient signage. Those coming from the third world Roma Termini in particular will feel the huge difference for the better. On the constructive side, the sataion is short of self-service bus machines, and lacks an information desk altogether, we will be happy to see those next time we arrive!

Grand looking central train terminus in the heart of Florence in an art deco-esque style. Very busy with a lot of footfall of people, found it all to be a little too confusing and had trouble finding my platform.
