This the definitely the best football stadium in Belgium! A one-of-a-kind stadium with an old school vibe and a standing stand 🏟 Allez l’Union 💛💙

I attended several games during season 2021/22; it was a mixed but ultimately disappointing experience. The stadium is a throwback with real character, starting with the art deco facade of the west stand. Also, the west & east stands along either side are close to the pitch which is good, although behind the goals you're too far away. One star for that. As regards the supporters, the Union Bhoys live up to their reputation & bring the colour and the noise to create a good atmosphere. One star for that. Otherwise though there are too many Bobos who clearly don't know football (often talking about completely different things while the game is going on). If you want to be part of a genuine football crowd, go to RWDM. The biggest problem though is the unacceptable, even dangerous, conditions which fans are subjected upon entering the stadium. Access to the EST (standing) tribune is through gates 2A/B on the opposite side. In practice, that means that the majority of the crowd has to access the largest stand through a single gate (I never saw more than one open). That creates a significant crush outside the ground on the Chaussée de Bruxelles, with no attempt by the club, the security guards or the police to manage it. For the Anderlecht game on 24/4/22, I arrived 45 minutes before kick-off & there was already a large crowd in the street. There was only one person (a teenager) checking tickets and IDs. It wasn't his fault, he was overwhelmed, but it was a slow process so the crowd kept building up & pushing from the back as kick-off approached. There were three security guards standing at the gate, doing nothing when they could have been helping the crowd to form an orderly queue. At one point the crush became so bad that one of the fans climbed onto the wall to appeal to the security guards inside to do something. One of them, who I think was the one 'in charge', climbed up upon to the wall, looked at the crowd & made dismissive gestures. By now, the match had kicked off & USG scored two early goals, which only increased the push from behind. Fifteen minutes after kick-off the security guards just opened the gate & let us all in without checking tickets. In short, their inaction and their dismissive attitude put supporters at risk & they didn't even succeed in checking everybody's tickets and IDs. For the next home game against Club Brugge on 8/5/22, I arrived one hour before kick-off but the problem repeated itself. Furthermore, the behaviour of some of the supporters was very poor. Two drunk fans behind my group tried to push & wrestle their way through, while five metres away the security guards just watched. Their pushing was forcing two young boys in front of us on to a metal barrier, so my group began arguing with them & only at that point did the security guards come over, telling us to calm down but doing nothing to deter the bad behaviour of the drunken louts behind us, let alone alleviate the crush. At the gate, there were two kids checking tickets this time, with one supervisor, but apart from that there was no change. There were also around ten police officers standing just inside the gate but they were doing nothing, when they should have been outside managing the crowd. Clearly, the wrong lesson had been learned from the previous game &, again, nothing was done to ensure the safety of supporters. Neither the club, the security guards nor the police took responsibility. By way of comparison, I went to see RWDM around this time. They used the same company to check tickets and IDs (in fact I saw the very same kids on duty) & there was no problem whatsoever. It helped that their supporters are obviously more grown up & formed an orderly queue by themselves but the security arrangements in general were much better. I've been to hundreds of football games in several countries, usually with crowds far bigger than at Joseph Marien, but I've never encountered situations like that before. I won't accept that level of disdain for football supporters so I won't be back.

AMAZING!! The stadium is really nice, antiques and in the middle of greenery! The ambiance is incredible! A nice little bar called The Club House where you can drink a lot of different beers if you’re visiting when they are not playing!!

It's an old fashion stadium, which you can love it or hate it. For some people it has a very romantic atmosphere, for others is lack of commodities. I'm more in the first group. This is the stadium for the matches of the football club Unión Saint Gilloise. If you come to see them one day, I'm sure you'll come back. Ici, ici c'est Saint Gilloise!

A place where people with an IQ less than 75 gather to get a free shower and discuss made-up "facts". A place where homeless' meet to satisfy eachother oraly. Just stay away with kids.
