This was by far the best thing we did in Ft. Lauderdale. Captain Dan is a ton of fun! Swimming in the deep Atlantic was amazing. Do yourself a favor and see Ft. Lauderdale in a new and exciting way.

I wanted to take my elderly father out on a special day while he was visiting this Christmas. I lost my mother (his wife) a couple of months ago, so this was his first Christmas without her in 60 years and I wanted a special treat for him, something he hadn't done before. I was a bit concerned about a day of sailing on a proper sailing boat, as he's 86 and a bit fragile, and he's never been on a sailing boat before, but I need not have been concerned, Captain Dan (and first mate Tracy) were SO wonderful with him - friendly and welcoming and they made sure he got on the boat safe and sound, got him seated, helped him every step of the way. Captain Dan was flexible and just followed what we wanted to do - we decided going out to sea was a bit too much for my dad, so Captain Dan recommended just going down the New River to the Bahia Mar area, which took about an hour. It was just wonderful, a nice gentle ride, they had icy cold water, sun screen, and Captain Dan was a great tour guide - we loved going under the bridges, seeing all the mansions, looking at the "Mega Yachts" parked along the side of the river, spotting manatees and iguanas, my dad just LOVED it. We will DEFINITELY do another charter with them the next time my dad comes to town or if we have friends in town. Maybe we'll feel a little braver and actually go out to sea then! Captain Dan and Tracy treated us like old friends, not just like customers, and we feel like we definitely made new friends with them. The boat itself was lovely, very pretty and clean, and it was so exciting, we even saw the Jungle Queen and waved at everyone on board, it was so much fun.

We had an incredible experience. From booking to docking at the end of the day everything was professional and friendly. Captain Dan welcomed us as we arrived and adapted our experience based on our wishes. We had the opportunity to learn and participate in sailing. The booking experience is very flexible and easy. On the day prior to our charter the weather forecast became unusual for the time of year. The Captain offered some alternatives to ensure that we would have no bad weather and accommodated our request with ease. We look forward to our next charter with A Day on the Water.

Had a great experience sailing with Captain Dan. Fun motoring out to the ocean via the canals. Went under several draw bridges and right past the downtown river front then passed two cruse ships then finally out to sea. Nice toilet and comfortable cabin below deck. Plenty of bottle water. And champagne was offered as well. Great bean bags to sit on at the front of the boat. Fun “Jimmy Buffett” type music playing. We brought food to eat. The sunset was beautiful.

My wife has never been so relaxed on the water in 30 years of marriage. We learned a little history about the mansions, monster yachts and their owners inland to learning some basic sailing on the open ocean. If you want to escape reality for 4 hours, Captain Dan is TOPS!!! Worth every penny.

This sailing day was the highlight of our vacation! What an amazing experience! Captain Dan is THE BEST! The trip down to the Atlantic was full of beautiful homes and impressive yachts. Sailing along the coast and swimming off the boat was so much fun. Captain Dan shared some Fort Lauderdale history and even a few restaurant suggestions with us. If you are visiting Fort Lauderdale, book this charter. Best day ever!

Captain Dan & First Mate Tracey were super fun, kind, and accommodating of our last minute request and grumpy, hot kids. We had a really wonderful afternoon on the water and loved seeing Fort Lauderdale from a new angle. Captain Dan pointed out fun sights for the adults and kids. Everyone was in great spirits by the end of the ride. Highly recommend!

Had a fantastic time out on the boat with captain Dan as usual! We absolutely love sailing & swimming when we go out on Wind Pirate every time we visit Ft. Lauderdale! Ms. Whelan is very helpful & takes pictures before you leave. Captain Dan is super accommodating. They have a bathroom on board too! If you are looking for a fun thing to do in Ft. Lauderdale, I highly recommend booking a charter with A Day on the Water/Sail Wind Pirate. We got to see millionaires row & all the nice yachts! The massive yachts we passed were incredible. The views are incredible! Loved every minute of it. We got to swim in lake sylva and he took us out into the ocean for some deep sea fishing.

Dan is a pro captain and truly hospitable host. The cruise is a great way to see all the landmarks along the river. The sailing on the open ocean was a breeze!

We were a group of three and enjoyed a perfect day on the water with Captain Dan on board of his comfortable 40 ft "Wind Pirate". On this private charter you can bring your own food and drinks and then just relax, let the views of the waterways, the inter-coastal and later the open ocean sink in, while Captain Dan takes care of everything in a professional, calm and friendly way. Had a great sail with capt. Dan! We toured the canals, got a nice sail in the ocean and even got the help steer at the helm. There were nice bean bag chairs to lounge in the sun and cool covered cockpit to retreat to when the sun got too hot.

What a great day! My family and I were visiting Fort Lauderdale for a few days. We scheduled an afternoon/evening cruise with Captain Dan. My family had an amazing day. My kids loved the bean bag chairs on the front of the sailboat as we cruised down the river. Captain Dan allowed my daughter to steer the boat once we got to the ocean. Our day was very relaxing! We'd definitely do this cruise again.

A 10 out of 10 experience! Captain Dan is great. He will take you through Fort Lauderdale and eventually to the open ocean. We booked a sunset cruise and got to experience the beauty of the sunsetting on the open water. It was a great and relaxing time! I would recommend Captain Dan to anyone and everyone.

I have been on a few boating charters before but this was my first sailing charter. My wife and I booked a 4-hour semi-private charter for two. We were joined by one other gentleman and of course Captain Dan. Based on the previous Trip Advisor reviews for this charter I was pretty sure we were going to have a great experience, and I wasn't wrong. It was immediately evident that Captain Dan was a personable, competent and experienced sailor as he navigated the tight rivers, the intracoastal waterways and draw bridges and then finally the Atlantic. We did stop for a swim in the Atlantic and Dan offered us snorkeling equipment but we opted out on the snorkeling as we wanted to continue sailing the waves. The 4-hour experience went by far to fast but isn't that always the case when you are enjoying yourselves. This sailing charter gets my 100% recommendation and we felt the price point for this charter was extremely reasonable for the experience offered. He books up fast and we were lucky to find an open date so book early if you can.
