If I could give a zero, I would. Walked in with a newborn puppy gasping for air. They said he was fine. (I know that he was NOT fine. They were going to send me home without even checking him. I told them he’s not nursing! He needed to get his airways suctioned, given oxygen, and kept warm. NONE of that happened. This was an EMERGENCY. Newborn puppies decline so quickly. I waited nearly 15 minutes (puppy still in my hands) and no one came. Everyone casually walking around like it was no big deal. I walked right out. Drove 8minutes away to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital. Immediately upon arrival they took my puppy , placed him him in a warmer, suctioned his nose, and gave him oxygen before I could even tell them my name! They saved my puppy. Meanwhile, I probably would have still been waiting for my puppy to be seen at Colonial Animal Hospital. Never ever going there for an emergency. My puppy would have died due to their incompetence, lack of care (or in my case- no care at all), and NEGLIGENCE! Photo of me waiting in a room with my newborn puppy with respiratory emergency. Absolutely AWFUL!

Where can I even start? Eve has to be one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. Not only did she take in my 1 week old puppy to nurse back to health, she would take in clefty puppies, whose owners didn’t want them!! If it wasn’t for Eve, and this animal hospital, Rose would not have survived. Eve would send me pictures all the time and constantly keep me updated on Rose’s progress, she had nursed Rose for 3 months. They would also accommodate me sitting in their clinic for hours at a time visiting my puppy, and truly not once did I witness any wrongdoing or unprofessionalism from any of the staff members. They’re all so amazing! I highly recommend this vet clinic. Their prices are also fair!

They saved my dog after others said to take her home, she isn't going to live. We didn't give up and bought her to Colonial for a second opinion. Very caring and thorough! Kept me updated every step of the way, but didn't give up! They monitored her through the night and when we took her home she was back to her happy, spunky self! They also allowed me to be with her in case she didn't make it and treated me so kind! This place is A++ #1!! Shout-out to the amazing Dr. Amy and staff!!

Colonial is the absolute best! The prices are very reasonable and they don’t up charge for weekends/after hours. The vet knew right away the issue with our Wrigley. Injections for steroid and antibiotics. Our Wrigs is on the mend just like the vet told us! Grateful to have found this amazing place for all our pets. :).

Colonial Animal Hospital held my dog for several nights giving her fluids and pain meds but did not give me any specific diagnosis or treatment options. They only told me she would die if I took her out of the hospital. I finally made the decision to pull her and take her for a second opinion and the second vet did a CT scan and was able to tell me within 30 minutes that she had advanced stage cancer and that she had a few days left. This second vet gave me pain meds and fluids for at home so I could spend time with my pup and she could be in the comfort of home in her last few days… she would have died alone in a cage at colonial.

I would give ZERO star if I could! My first visit was fine, but the second time… I’ll never take my baby to this hospital again! There are some highlights of you shouldn’t bring you fur baby to this hospital: 1) the staffs are not animals lover. As a animals lover, I know most of pets would scare when they meet new people in a new environment. And that’s totally understandable if they bark. However, the staff came then walk away, came back again says, we will not send your dog to the doctor without sedation($150). Excuse me? You never even tried to comfort or greet my dog, and you think he is “dangerous”. I understand you have to protect yourself, but you didn’t even try as an animal care provider. My dog is a good boy, have seen many vet in the past and never had this problem. So I’m sure it’s your problem. 2) do nothing We left with the medication we requested because they didn’t want to treat my dog. We didn’t even meet a vet. How professional! 3) waste time and money Spent 3 hours and worked out without seeing a vet, and spent over $200 for medications and fees IF YOU LOVE YOUR FUR BABY, DO NOT COME HERE. It will only make trauma to your baby and you!

I took my dog here because she was acting extremely strange. On the phone they said it would be 75 dollars for an exam. They took her and we waited for the results which were supposed to take 15-20 minutes. We waited for an hour for the vet to tell me that she was “messed up” meaning marijuana toxicity. I asked if that’s what the blood results showed she said NO. But she’s pretty sure that’s what it is. So now we’re just making educated guesses because of how she looks. She recommends us leaving her there with “no extra charge” so they can monitor her but she will be okay. We come back to pick her up and the bill is almost 500. To someone that is struggling, that can make or break you. There’s no price break down anywhere, and a lovely sign that says payment will be due when services are rendered. I knew immediately that would be a red flag. When we asked the receptionist about the charges she told us “the doctor is gonna tell you if we’re saving your dogs life we’re not really thinking about telling you the price of bloodwork, and if I was concerned, I should have asked.” If she said my dog was fine her life wasn’t really in danger then? Vet never told me she was going to do anything but let her rest and sleep it off. On top of that, it’s been 48 hours since she’s been home, and she’s not any better. No aftercare advice. In fact new symptoms have since popped up like, she’s yelping in pain every time you touch her. And she’s not eating or drinking at all. Won’t go for a walk. She’s been in her bed reluctant to move. Unfortunately I cannot take her back here because of the shady business. I would not trust these people with your money.

Thank you for your help. We brought our cat Peep to this ER Vet, it was very busy we had to wait, it was Sunday. Both my wife and I are healthcare workers and understand why the wait. Care was effective and reasonable, and I trusted the Doctors’ and staff expertise and that’s what mattered. If ever in a situation like this again I would not hesitate to use Colonial Vet Hospital again.

First, I would like to say that the doctor and technicians there were very compassionate and understanding. They were the highlight of the experience. My cat had to have his back leg amputated. I knew his foot had to be broken when I called and the woman working the front desk was the rudest person I've ever interacted with at a vets office. I told her I needed an appointment bc I was sure his foot was broken and she audibly sighed and spoke to me as if I was a nuisance calling the VETS office for my PET. She was even rude, short, and talked to me like she wished I wasn't there when I was checking in. I dont remember her name. Jennifer or Jessica I believe. Dark hair, Caucasian. The doctors and techs, however, were great. Very gentle with my boy and caring and so understanding of my emotions when it came to choose if we would try extensive surgery or amputate. I will say this place was awful about communication. I didn't receive a single update that I didn't have to call about after I left the office. They kept my cat for 4 days after his surgery and never once called me to tell me his surgery was over or anything. When i called on the 4th day they told me that he had been ready for pick up the evening before, so it was nice to know that NO ONE called to tell me that I could come get my cat. The lack of customer service made me feel unwelcome with my animals. I went somewhere else to get his stitches removed the next month, and the vet there said that they did a really good job sewing him up which made me glad. I am glad that the doctor did so well with him, but I will not be returning since the front desk does not care about the injured animals or their worried owners. Veterinary offices should be staffed with compassionate people!

I had to take my old boy in for an emergency. We got 12 lovely years with him and that morning he just couldn't do it anymore. This place took him in quickly, let us know what was wrong and gave us options. Unfortunately the best one for him was letting him go. They gave me the time I needed to say my goodbyes and the other day I was able to bring him home. The staff was so kind and understanding. It was a very hard day for me so the kindness went a very long way. Thank you so much for taking care of my Cocoa.

Such an amazing staff here. They really care about your pet AND do not price gouge you. They ask your permission to run tests and take x rays and are clear about how much everything costs. My pup is better within a day of being here!! The vet was super friendly and talks to you like a real person! If I ever need to see an emergency vet again, I will definitely be coming back!

I brought my dog Polo in for a cystotomy due to bladder stones and the staff was absolutely amazing! Dr. Foxwell was always very busy which I completely understood due to the high volume of animals coming in but he took very good care of Polo. There were 3 ladies that were also great Eve, Madison, and especially Trinity! Trinity was on point with everything and didn’t get annoyed with me calling every couple hours to check on his surgery. While I was in the waiting room to pick him up there was two times owners came in with there dogs that you could tell needed emergency attention and Trinity literally ran from the desk to meet them at the door to bring their dogs in the back to get worked on right away. I was highly impressed with her as a person and truly caring for all the animals that came in! Thank you guys for helping Polo and being there for many other animals!

The staff with colonial is AMAZING!! From the moment you walk in the door to the moment you leave!! They were all so caring, understanding, heartwarming. Dr. Amy K Bosecker was so darn FANTASTIC it’s hard to put into words!! My dog was so scared coming in and was calm when we left. The entire staff took time to make sure my baby boy was comfortable and calm and they made sure to explain everything to myself and my husband and make sure we was comfortable and knew the cost every step of the way!! I can’t thank them enough!! This is most definitely the best Vet I’ve ever taken my dogs too. Thank you thank you thank you!!

We had an awful experience at Colonial Animal hospital. Please proceed with caution before going to this place. We took our 17 year old chihuahua who is a soldier of a little lady. She’s endured several life threatening conditions (including removal of her left eye) and exhibits superhuman pain tolerance without making a whimper. She had not been eating or drinking for several days, which we feared was due to a tooth abscess. Her breath smelled like blood, drooling gooey material, unable to sleep. When we arrived, we informed the technician of her condition, age, history, and symptoms. None of which the technician made note of, or wrote down. We were told the vet would come in next to assess our dog’s mouth. When she arrived - after waiting for over an hour - the analysis was completely rushed - the woman spent no longer than 5 minutes speaking with us. She did not even attempt to open our dog’s mouth to assess the condition herself or touch the ailing tooth. Instead, she immediately rattled off a treatment plan without even first identifying what the ailment or issue is. She did not attempt to take our dog’s temperature and assumed she was suffering from an infection in her mouth. She recommended we put our 17 year old dog under general anesthesia so that (1) the problematic/painful tooth could be removed and (2) so that the rest of her teeth could be cleaned to remove tarter and combat periodontal disease. She said that before that could be done, first she would have to take a blood sample to confirm our chihuahua was healthy enough to be put under and, in addition, be prescribed antibiotics for a week prior to the surgery (as a preventative measure). This treatment plan and approach was communicated without the “vet” identifying or confirming what the actual problem is. Furthermore, the “vet” said she would take our dog to the back and “clean up” the ailing tooth to combat any infectious bacteria. She walked out and told us the technician would be back to handle the rest. The technician came back and there was clearly very little to no communication between the two. The technician came back in with (1) antibiotics and (2) appetite enhancers (the latter was never once mentioned by the “vet”). The technician then led us to schedule an appointment for surgery, at which point we questioned what the “vet” had told her. We also asked why nothing had been prescribed or suggested to remedy the pain our dog was enduring. It turned out the previous woman, the “vet”, was an intern and had poorly communicated the diagnosis to the technician. In fact, ‘poorly communicated’ is a generous term for this - there was nothing documented whatsoever, the technician left the room to sync up with the intern again, and returned to the room 5 minutes later. Upon returning, the technician apologized and informed us the “vet” was indeed an intern and did not recommend prescribing any pain medication due to the old age of our dog. BUT SHE WANTED TO PUT OUR DOG UNDER TO CLEAN HER TEETH! This intern has a nose ring - run for the hills if you see her. We drilled the technician about the radical diagnosis and treatment plan - and hypocrisy of giving an old dog general anesthesia but not a mild, soft pain killer. We ask the technician if she could wiggle our dog’s tooth to gauge how loose it was and if it could be pulled without surgery (something we did not want to do in fear of inflicting pain on our sweet little dog). Lone and behold the technician quickly and easily removed our dog’s tooth with her bare hands- something they intended to charge us several thousand dollars to do via surgery. We ended up leaving after that and paying $175 for the office visit, liquid antibiotics, and appetite stimulants (asked me to pay without being shown a bill) I highly recommend no one ever go to this place - you don’t know if you’re going to receive care from a real vet or a college student. There was no transparency whatsoever. What an absolute circus this place was. I wish I could get a full refund from this place it is absolutely ridiculous.

Best emergency vet in SWFL. Dr. Amy and the entire staff was so caring. We took our Mama cat here tonight when she was showing signs of sneezing and head twitching. Since it was a Sunday evening our regular vet was not open. We drove 30 minutes to come here because of the great reviews, and it was very much worth it. They triage pets accordingly, they make sure your pet is well taken care of, and they answer every question you may have. Dr. Amy was very knowledgeable, kind, and knew exactly what to do. The nurse who came in was absolutely amazing as well. The entire experience was great and we felt as though our Mama was in great hands. Our cat is usually very nervous around people, but she was calm here. This hospital also adds a cute personal touch to the examination room, a sign that says “Welcome” with your pets name on this, this is a cute touch that makes you feel more comfortable when in a stressful situation with your pet. They truly care about your pet and I am very thankful to Dr. Amy and the entire team! We will definitely be coming back for a regular check up with Dr. Amy for our other cats soon!
