A small museum but we found it interesting and it has interesting information and exhibits about the garrison of troops stationed there and their life. The stockade was fascinating and sad to contemplate. A very helpful young woman named Nan was the only staff, and only other person there. It made a nice break along the long stretch of I-10 between El Paso and San Antonio.

The fort was kind of underwhelming. All self-lead with not many exhibits,, just buildings. But the Annie Riggs museum was great! Lots of great artifacts and collections. Stop by the jail. And the grey mule Saloon wine tasting room had great wine.

This was better than expected and I really enjoyed the two videos but we love history Hubs and I are both Veterans so our admission was free.

Cool fort to see what life was like on the frontier back in the day. My kids didn't quite appreciate it as much as I'd like but I think important for them to see how life was when people settled the area. They have a little museum with some info but it does cost a few bucks so be prepared for that.

Historic Fort Stockton is a must see spot if you are visiting Fort Stockton. There is an open area with old houses and beautiful scenery. There are a few signs that explain historic points and even a path you can take as a self-guided driving tour. Beautiful buildings representing a proud history.

If you want to learn a little bit about the history of the tail end of the wild west, this place can give you some good ideas on how it was. Where the prevalent Indians came from, how long they were in control, and when the Indian wars finally ended. Nice piece of History. You'll also learn a little bit about the Buffalo soldiers...

If you are into history it was not bad. Other wise it was a bit boring. The museum portion cost a couple dollars to get into, the rest was free.

If you are into history of westward expansion, this is a good stop. Little remains of the original Fort but you get enough info to visualize the setting and appreciate the rugged life these folks led.

Very disappointed. Staff at gift shop was not friendly nor helpful and we were the only ones there. Only 3 buildings were open.

The town was quite interesting with a lot of, make sure you visit all the historic spots in town. Even the jail was unique. Worth a day trip to visit all. The huge roadrunner is a good photo spot

$3. Free for Veterans. Wonderful displays. Friendly informative staff. Clean restrooms. Plenty of parking. Several buildings. You can almost feel like going back in time.

Several nice, informative videos. Lots of artifacts. They have senior and veteran tickets discounts. Allow about an hour - two at the most - and you'll see everything. Make sure you stop by the Visitors building and get the historic driving map!

There are several buildings to look at. The museum is located in one. There is lots of information on the fort, when it was built, deserted due to Civil War, then re- established after. Some artifacts in display. 2 videos are available: one 15 minutes long on the history of the fort and a 5 minute video on Buffalo soldiers. It presents information about the white commander of the unit but almost nothing on the Buffalo soldiers themselves. There was a small, more informative display in a kitchen building, but I needed my flashlight to be able to read it as there was no light in the building. I was disappointed overall.

After arriving in Fort Stockton from San Antonio, it was time for a good night sleep as more driving was on the plate for the following day. However, I was excited about visiting this little gem in the middle of nowhere. Fort Stockton is a small town in the desert where only a couple of hotels and some stores can be found. Oh yes, there is also a Walmart. Historic Fort Stockton is a lovely place to visit. I was especially looking for the Paisano Pete. It was early morning so I was the only human there walking around and enjoying the place.
