Great and friendly service, excellent sushi & nigiri. Not shy with the fish portions either, which was surprising and refreshing. Recommend 100%. They offered a diverse menu if sushi is not everyone in your party’s speed. Ramen and bento selections too.

Alrighty. Came here on Friday just in time for their happy hour. We got the sake salmon, Tok fries, beer braised pork buns, okonomiyaki, and chicken karaage. The sake salmon was simple but good. A good salmon to rice ratio is always appreciated. The Tok Fries was very large. Definitely this can be shared between 3-4 people. The chili mayo and furikake seasoning was a pretty unique way of eating fries. The beer braised pork buns were by far my favorite item of the evening. The pork was very juicy, flavorful, and tender. It has a good amount of fat that melted with each bite. The bun was there to absorb the fat. Delicious and highly recommended. The chicken karaage was average. I thought it usually came with a lemon but ours didn't. Lastly the okonomiyaki. I did not really like this item. It just wasn't for me. The sauce and everything made it very filling and difficult for me to enjoy. Overall, it was a good experience. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

My partner and friends went here and we were super surprised! They have small plates and I highly recommend ordering a bunch of items and sharing. This is way more of a legit Japanese restaurant and not commercial sushi place. It is a tiny restaurant but boy they have great sushi, awesome tempura and whatever else was being brought out to other tables looked and smelled awesome! Looks like they also had cocktails and drinks! Highly recommend this join!

Working lunches are much more sweet here! We sampled a couple of rolls, a bento box, and a chicken bowl. All delightful! I’ll have to go back for a happy hour 🍻

You have to go for the Omakase experience and ask for chef Chris if he is available. I cannot believe how good this experience was. You order your drinks, give him a price cap and any items or ingredients you want to stay away from, and then you sit back and food is delivered to you that the chef thinks is the best option. Chef Chris has several of his own personal creations that you won't find anywhere else including the one in the photo with the apple flower. I've had a good bit of sushi in my life and I've been to some extremely expensive sushi restaurants in the past and nothing compares to the flavor, presentation, and service that we recieved at Shinjuku. I will definitely be returning and bringing all of my friends who love sushi and I suggest you do the same.

Tam had literally the BEST customer service, so genuine, kind and also on point. I felt soo lucky to have her as our server… I can not stress that enough, individuals like that are great for business. If I went back here I would want Tam as my server only. As for the menu, I am vegetarian and there was a vegan menu as well as vegetarian menu available which was so awesome! The fries did not have enough of that awesome dipping sauce, they should serve double that sauce. The edamame was okay. A lot of grease and oil between the fries and edamame, it was too much. Definitely my favorite vegetarian sushi I have ever had, it was not bland at all. The reason why I am giving 3 stars is because the atmosphere was not worth the price and with an ankle/foot injury it was not clear what so ever where the entrance was, after driving around the building twice I finally found parking but could not seem to find the front door. Once I did get to the front door it was locked with a sign saying the entrance has been relocated to the back, which was too much for my foot injury. By the time I was able to finally get a reservation after an hour wait and then finding the entrance-way, customers were flooding out and the door did not close by itself every time someone left, the door stayed open while we waited to be seated, so kindly I kept closing the door to keep the cold air from coming in. We arrived around 8:15p and felt like all the employees were pushing us out promptly at 10p, which is closing time. The only employee that did not seem rushed was our server. I am not sure why y’all close so early on a Saturday but if you close at 10p it should be a soft close, not all the kitchen and staff ready to go, a hard close, changes the whole experience and did not set well with me. I will not be coming back to this location as it was too pricey all in all for the ambiance, this restaurant in my opinion could only work in this city because there isn’t much competition to choose from. Hope that this critical review can help, I am just very honest with my opinion. With love!

Wonderful experience especially for the first time! Lexi and MiMi made our evening the best by sharing ideas on what to choose! Completely explained in detail what we would be ordering and continued by explaining as it arrived to the table! MiMi was training with Lexi but MiMi's smile was incredible and made me smile! I would definitely refer friends and family here. Just keep in mind your getting the real deal there is no fillers here! I hope your experience here is as wonderful as ours!

We’ve been wanting to try this place for some time and finally did realizing we hadn’t missed out on much. They state no heavy sauces, avocado etc but they either need that or some salt. The miso ramen had barely any flavor outside of the pork belly. The spicy ramen wasn’t that spicy but had good flavor. They both had a good amount noodle/broth in them. The onigiri were huge which made it difficult to eat but husband really liked them. Great customer service but food was just ok compared to a hanabi ramen or blue sushi.

Been here twice. Best thing is to give your server a dollar limit and let them take you on a food journey. Done it twice and not disappointed. Make sure to let them know if you are opposed to certain foods.

Been here once before in 2017. Food and service was good on both occasions. They didn't have a couple of items that we had ordered so that was a bummer, but overall it was a pleasant experience. We ended up staying a little late (past 9), but the staff was very friendly and didn't rush us. Most of the dinner plates are small plates, so you order a few and share. We ordered 6 things and were very full by the end (could have probably gone without one of the dishes). Not too expensive, but it does add up since you'll likely be ordering several items.

Wonderful, wonderful experience. I came a little early for lunch to avoid crowds and get a little more personalized experience. The ambience was pleasantly relaxed. I was very comfortable as I perused the menu and figured things out. I think this was my first Japanese food restaurant so I had to take it a little slowly. The server was great and I ordered the build-your-own-bento lunch. After I ordered, it turned out they were all out of chicken, which was included as a meat in my order. This was no problem as I was able to get shrimp instead. I was blown away by the flavors of the plate. I opted for tempura vegetables (the fried mushrooms were especially interesting), green tea soba noodles, squid salad, and the shrimp kakiage. I was not expecting the portion size. Before I got my food, I asked the server to prepare a to-go sushi roll, but halfway through my bento lunch, I knew I had ordered too much! But what a wonderful problem to have. I ordered the squid salad on a whim just to try something new and I was so delighted by the flavors and textures of it. The shrimp kakiake was the star of the show. I loved the very slightly spicy sauce served over it. All of the food came in the bento pictured, and it is more food than it looks. In addition to my bento and my to-go roll, I ordered the matcha tea ice cream. Having never had it before, it was an interesting and tasty treat. It actually leaves your palate feeling fresh and clean after eating all of the varied flavors of the bento. I was so incredibly stuffed when I left, but I couldn’t be more pleased with the whole thing. I really hope to come back soon!

Excellent food and service. We loved everything we ate, but our favorites were definitely the okonomiyaki, pork buns and takoyaki. :)

Having lived in Tokyo I was excited to discover this place. Long story short - the menu was unreasonably limited no udon - really. The service Carlos provided was extraordinary - always checking up on us. The sushi pieces were more like slivers of fish. Slightly over priced for the portions. Need to focus on substance vs show.

Delicious for date night! Happy hour is superb- the tok fries were incredible & such a good deal. Also enjoyed the takoyaki. I like how things come out fresh when they’re ready. All the sushi and rolls were also fresh. Our waiter was so helpful w/suggestions- never would’ve tried anchovies before but they were a pleasant surprise. Attentive service, lovely cocktails & nice Friday night evening.

I've been here three times, once with my wife, once with my brothers, and once for takeout. In-restaurant was generally awesome. Ordered lots of small things which were all delicious. Takeout took a little longer because they were out of some ingredients, but they took care of us with some delicious sushi. Definitely recommend.

Great sushi chefs. They were so busy on a Saturday night but everyone was super sweet and doing their best! Helpful hint: Order the sashimi instead of rolls/sushi…

FOOD IG: @northtx.gemz 🍒WHAT THEY’RE KNOWN FOR: cute little Japanese food restaurant offering authentic eats on magnolia street. 🍒WHAT WE ORDERED: • Spider Roll • Chicken Karaage • Beer Braised Pork Buns • Garlic Rub Albacore Sushi • Shiro Maguro (white tuna) Nigiri • Okonomiyaki 🍒 PRICE: ~$70 + tip 🍒 THE VIBE: super casual, intimate and kind of indie hipster vibes. 🍒 WOULD I COME BACK? Maybe. •••• Overall Rating: 8.5/10 - Another sushi spot to try on your list! If you like very authentic sushi (literally they don’t put avocado, cream cheese, or any heavy sauces in any of their sushi or dishes) this is the place for you! - The spider roll was immaculate I liked it a lot. I liked the freshness of the garlic rub albacore, but I think I would stick to salmon or tuna next time. I loved the white tuna nigiri it was so fresh! - The most unique thing I had was the okonomiyaki which is basically a fried sushi-like pizza? It had a lot of flavor and honestly wish I didn’t order the chicken karaage (not good to me) so I could enjoy the pizza more (since they were both fried it was a lot together). - The pork belly buns were very good too but honestly you could skip on that. Overall, they pay attention to the prep of food and it’s a pretty solid place! I only said maybe I would come back only because I like super cute places and this was a definitely casual, hipster place so it’s personal preference. Service was AMAZING btw. Everyone is so nice and made the experience very enjoyable.

Great sushi and great service. The rolls, and specialty dishes are nice and fresh. Sitting at the sushi bar is good because you can get suggestions from the chef. Sake is good both warm and cold.

Loved our time at Shinjuku. Definitely get reservations because there were limited tables. The pork buns were fabulous. The takoyaki (octopus fritters) melted in my mouth. Sushi was great. The old fashioned was a little sweet for my taste but house saki was just what I needed.

Best Japanese restaurant in the Dallas Fort Worth area! Food was extremely tender and delicious. Customer service was kind and attentive.

Server was attentive & had great recommendations. Surprisingly, my favorites were the swiss chard (fresh without being bitter) & wild mushrooms. I mixed the sauces with a bowl of rice & was pretty content scarfing that down. My next favorite was the hama chili (another server recommendation). The fish was sliced perfectly thin & had a slight kick from the chili. The only disappointment was that they ran out of the matcha panna cotta dessert. Parking is a bit scarce due to construction & go to the back of the building for the entrance.
