The cultural district in Fort Worth is Worth visiting if you have an appreciation for art. There are several museums in the area, some of which are of no cost to the public.

Good art museum if you’re a fan of Western art such as Remington, horses, cowboys. Miscellaneous displays of other American art lack focus. Not enough of any one type of thing to make up a whole room. The building itself lacks interesting architectural features and is reminiscent of state university buildings of the modern era. Veranda area seems empty and wasted but useful for events. Beautiful view. I got the impression the Carter museum lacks support, big donors, or direction. But maybe they have plans. Perfect location. Easy to get to on the culture trolley.

The Amon Carter Museum has an amazing collection of American art. In addition to Western paintings by Remington and Russell, they also have great works by other artists including Georgia O'Keeffe and Grant Wood.

Took my two year old for a kids activity day (Art tales). He was a little young to really enjoy it, but I’m glad to expose him to things he’s not quite into yet anyway! The parking lot is annoyingly small; arrived at 10:07 and it was already full, but there was cheap street parking down the hill. I studied Richard Avedon during my university degree in photography so it was fun to see some of his work in the collection!

Get thee to the museum! Visit your favorites or enjoy the new. The Texas Prairie Grass inspired exhibition just opened and be prepared to be captivated. As an outdoor inspired Texan, this show spoke to my heart in the language that reads nature in all her mystery. I could hear the wind and feel the Prairie Grasses of my grandparents' pastures as my eyes and heart devoured each inch of this space. If abstraction is more to your liking, head up the rainbow 🌈 topped stairs to the recently opened mid-century sculptural and lithograph pieces to see what they become with your viewing. And see if, like me, your mind goes wild with conjecture as you walk up the ramps lined with an installation designed specifically for this space at the Amon Carter. As always, the museum is free but welcomes donations!

Beautiful museum and collections. On the day I went to see the BLACK EVERY DAY exhibit. Sit was amazing to see black people shown in the excellence of everyday life. It’s inspiring in my own quest to photography life in America. Many of the other collections drew my attention also. I learn about Amon Carter, Remington, Lachaise, Steele, and many more.

Worked the Fort Worth Stock and Rodeo show with Chevy. If you’re attending, come early in the weekend as it gets busy. There is a lot of vendors and a lot of activities for families.

I've been enjoying this museum since my first trip in 1970 when I was in elementary school on a field trip. And when I think about the Amon Carter museum I immediately think about the painting Parson Weems' Fable" by Grant Wood. I also enjoy the perfect placement of the museum to where you can stand on the steps and look out at the beautiful view of downtown Fort Worth from an elevated point. The placement of the sculptures "Upright Motive No. 2, 7, and Glenkiln Cross by Henry Moore in the eastern edge of the plaza even adds to the beauty of that view! In 1976 Henry Moore visited his work and said "I love to see the sky as a background for my sculpture, it's often a better background than any other."

Best known secret. Beautiful redesign from 2019 with LED lights where photography and paintings and more. We had a wonderful time reading about the art works. Free, but feel free to donate because it is well worth it! Georgia O'Keefe and of course Remington's, but Soo many more artists you won't want to miss.

Fascinating experience with all of the artworks. It has a family room for meditating and enjoying being an artist with all drawing supplies. Suitable for family and kids who are ready to dive into the world of knowledge and art.

My first visit got the Amon Carter Museum. Entry is free. There is a recommended donation box off to the side as you enter. I had to move fast as I didn’t have much time. It’s not large a museum. I would think 45-90 mins would be enough for most people. Mix of art mediums and time periods covered. It’s an American art museum so by definition you are not looking at ancient artifacts. Some modern art. I saw some pieces from this year. There is a small gift shop. It sells some drinks and food I think but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a cafe. There is a parking lot and overflow parking both are free.

First off, the story of the guy this museum is named for is fascinating and second their collection and building are top-notch. My favorites were the Warhol and Ruscha. It’s also a good place to grab some lunch

Looking for a great place, with some good AC (you Texans know what's up), to spend some time? The Amon Carter Museum is the place to go! Did I mention it's free?? I absolutely loved the Remington collection and the staff is extremely friendly. The security guards know a lot about the exhibits and willing to answer questions. Oh and face masks aren't required!

We recently visited and were totally blown away by the Louise Nevelson exhibit! Beautifully curated and included many pieces and different media we had never seen. This completely changed my perception of the Carter and we will now visit regularly.

I really enjoyed a day trip at the Amon Carter Museum. I'm a graphic designer, and the exhibit and installation pieces really inspire my line of work.

Fabulous. A wide variety of exhibits. Staff are friendly and helpful. You will be sure to view something you like. I'm no art critic. But I find this museum enchanting!

I went here to see the works of the well known artists, Remington, Russell and more which were, of course, well worth it. But they also had an exhibit by two artists I'd never heard of. The brothers Scott & Stuart Gentling. There prodigious output in several media was nothing less than mind blowing. You could fairly say, their exhibit stole the show. Please do yourself a favor and go see it.

Super interesting exhibits, some permanent and some rotating, plus it's free. Perfect spot for a day date - has a nice lawn area out front too that we sat on for a bit. Wasn't crowded at all on a weekday afternoon, gave us plenty of time to look at everything and move at our own pace. It's close to other art museums downtown as well - finding the parking was the only tricky part, but I feel like that's par for the course with any place downtown.

It as their "Second Thursday" activity. There was a lesson on color, then two fascinating docent tours of the Dove collection. The first was a discussion around his small paintings on paper with various mediums as a way to capture sound in a two a demintional space. The second review of the exact same collection was about conversion and preservation with different wavelengths of light. Fascinating, Kristine, the second docent, got so excited about her craft at times she couldn't speak.

It's a great place to visit with/ without kids. The entrance and parking is free. We loved the exhibit, they have a small library and gift shop. The kids also loved their grounds. I would definitely recommend a visit.

This is a perfect museum. It is not too big. All the art is well curated. There are lots of docents who are very knowledgeable. Even the gift shop is fairly reasonably priced. This was a great place to spend an afternoon with friends.

A great museum of American art that I loved! Oil on canvas paintings are excellent in which the excellent American artists have dipicted American life and history in 19th and 20th centuries in details! You will also find many wonderful bronze and a few marble, wood and plaster art, and Texas Cabinet is interesting as well. Try to allocate enough time to see all precious art pieces slowly, and please don't forget to see "Ease" by great artist William M. Harnett in second floor: Details have been showed incredibly by oil painting!

After you’ve finished your delicious brunch at Don Artemio over on W7th head for the Amon Carter. Once known almost exclusively for its western art(which can still be found there and is still stunning) the Amon Carter has a wonderful collection not to be missed. It still has a distinct southwestern flavor but the breadth of works from John Singer Sargent to Georgia O’Keefe is sheer joy. Not stuffy or pretentious. Oh and it’s free.

I just finished an appt nearby, and I needed to use the restroom while walking to a bus stop, and this wonderful place let me use their restroom. I’ve never been here before, and let me tell you, it is something to see! It’s gorgeous! You should definitely come see it if you can! They have amazing customer service as well! I didn’t have to find anyone or ask anyone anything! As soon as I walked in, the man at the front desk asked me how he could help me today! 5 star service!
