Came here on a Saturday around 3pm. Parking was $5 just right outside the main entrance and there were plenty of spots. Tickets that day were $18 for adult at the gate, and $17 if you buy it online. This zoo was pretty nice and was extremely family friendly. There were attractions for kids and adults so it's suitable for all age groups. A good variety of animals at this zoo. They had a petting zoo which was fun. I enjoyed the giraffes the most even though I did not get a chance to feed them. I enjoyed my time here.

Was an amazing experience at the Fort Worth Zoo! Went with my mom and my sister and we had so much fun. There's lots to explore and so much to see even though some of the exhibits were closed due to expanding some of the habitats. We went on a Saturday during nice weather and it was crowded. We rode the train and went to the Stingray area. Saw all the animals that were out and all three of us enjoyed the experience. We will be going back when the other animals are back and would recommend you go enjoy the experience. Before we left we all got cute animal plushies and a back for them to commemorate our time we spent there at the zoo.

Second time visiting this time it wasn't as busy so it was great to see some of the animals up close. A lot of exhibits to see. Only stayed for two hours because of other obligations we had and saw only half of the park. For two adults and one child it was about $50 dollars but you definitely get your moneys worth. A definite must visit if you are in the area.

So far, one of the best Zoo I ever been. It’s very thematic , you can feed giraffes, you can pets a snakes, and more many things. Very nice for families, too. Lot of shops and food around. Very nice place, all my recommendations.

We really enjoyed our first visit to this zoo! Exhibits have tons of nature and they are all very well taken care of. It is very easy to walk through it. My 3 kids under the age of 6 were able to see plenty of animals. There are access ramps throughout the whole zoo and all doors have automatic open systems. They offer several shows for kids at different times during the day. There is also a little petting zoo area. The zoo gets pretty crowded though, so the earlier you get there the better. I wish you could see more animals from the train ride (a bit pricey). Parking is $5 and on Wednesdays prices are cheaper!

I love this zoo. I've been coming here for 55 years and there always seems to be something different every time I'm here. The first time we were here this year was an unpleasant experience, half the exhibits were closed as well as half the restaurants. Plus there really is a lot of construction going on. However, we went back this morning at 9, on a Monday, which I recommend for membership holders. There was no line to get in, there was free water and an orange, the animals were out eating and being active. We got a lot of good pictures. It appears the birds are back on exhibit. And there still is a lot of construction going on however the progress they're making is very rapid. All the exhibits are top-notch. And those didn't look up to their standards are being improved. Even during the hot summer, if you go on membership Mondays, the shade of the trees and the wind are enough to keep you cool for the most part. Also worth mentioning, the train and Carousel are free on Mondays all day to membership holders as well.

Great experience here at the zoo. Was a bit crowded due to half Price Wednesday but still overall a good day. Was able to see the baby elephant, Brazos, and plenty of birds, alligators and snakes. We will be back for sure, but will probably wait until the construction on the Africa section is done.

FAVORITE zoo, bar none! Absolutely gorgeous gardens inside and out. Meticulously kept. Beautiful exhibits. Many, many animals that were all in beautiful, humane enclosures. Great dining and gift shops. Outstanding decor throughout the zoo. Very friendly staff. Clayton in one of the gift shops was so cordial and helpful.

Fantastic zoo, the new Elephant exhibit is awesome with water guns and a beautiful waterfall! My favorite exhibit is the Hippos, it's at the far west side of the zoo and has a 50' glass wall allowing sub-surface viewing of the Hippos! One of my favorite places to take the family. Also there are 3 new baby giraffes you can feed for $6. During our most recent visit we counted 11 giraffes!

This has to be the most themed zoo I've ever been too. Really beautiful with waterfalls everywhere. Even some misting stations to help with that Texas heat. My favorite exhibit was probably the giraffe one. For $5 you get to feed them. I didn't see any live shows or an aquarium but still one of my top 5 zoo's I've been to.

The Fort Worth Zoo is an absolute gem! I recently had the pleasure of visiting, and I can't say enough good things about this place. From the moment you step inside, you're transported into a world of wonder and amazement. The variety of animals they have here is astounding, and it's clear that they are well-cared for and loved by the dedicated staff. It's not just about seeing the animals; it's about learning, conservation, and appreciation for the incredible diversity of our planet's wildlife. The exhibits are beautifully designed, and you can tell that a lot of thought has gone into creating environments that mimic the animals' natural habitats. The African Savannah exhibit, in particular, was a highlight for me. Watching the majestic elephants, graceful giraffes, and playful zebras roam freely was a surreal experience. The Fort Worth Zoo isn't just a place for kids; it's a place for people of all ages to connect with nature and be inspired. Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast, a family looking for a fun day out, or someone who appreciates the importance of conservation, this zoo has something for everyone. In summary, The Fort Worth Zoo has earned its reputation as one of the best zoos in the country for its exceptional commitment to treating animals with the utmost care and respect. With a focus on animal welfare and conservation, this zoo goes above and beyond to provide spacious, naturalistic habitats that mimic the animals' native environments. The dedicated team of caregivers and experts ensures that every resident animal receives top-notch medical care, nutrition, and enrichment to thrive. Their strong emphasis on education and conservation programs underscores their dedication to not only providing a home for these incredible creatures but also inspiring visitors to join in the efforts to protect and preserve wildlife for future generations. When it comes to setting the gold standard for ethical and compassionate treatment of animals, the Fort Worth Zoo stands out as a shining example!

One of the greatest zoo in Texas. It’s bigger than you actually expect it to be. I enjoyed the wide varieties of animals and birds and reptiles and fishes. I like the way they we kept. Well managed. There are lots of things to watch and enjoy.

There's a lot of beauty and a lot to last about mammals, birds, aquatic life, and more. The wild West section is so fun. I loved the flamingos who are there to greet you at the entrance. Ibex are fun to watch scale mountains. Giraffe, leopard, rhino, ostrich, elephant. There are a couple of spots to enjoy air condition and eat.

Fort Worth Zoo, was very nice. They had a lot of great animals that were fairly active in the morning. The exhibits gave multiple angles of most of the animals and was pretty relaxing. Pathways are smooth and big enough to support light traffic. Tickets can be bought on site or online. Parking is 5$ the lot seems adequate. Went on a Sunday morning was a little busy but not too crazy. Takes about 2-3 hours to see the zoo but you could spend more time if you wanted too. I’d definitely recommend checking it out if your in the area.

It's been a few years since we've gone to the zoo. Oh my goodness, the renovations are amazing! Everywhere we went was shaded and the animals had a large water feature for them to play in. These changes made our zoo trip enjoyable even on a triple digit day in the Texas heat. Well done and thank you for a great experience today.

The zoo was pretty cool. There were plenty shaded areas, a decent amount of animals to see but I especially enjoyed how close the giraffes came (to be fed, at cost) they also do activity / education at certain times which are posted by the animals, usually in front. I also recommend getting a map because you are sure to miss animals if you don’t.

This is definitely a good sized zoo so be prepared for minimum 2 hours here. We took 2 and half hrs here but was great so many animals to see we did the giraffe feeding and it was fun. We went on a cloudy day so the animals were there hanging out. Plenty of restrooms areas, benches for a quick drink/snack break. We enjoyed our time here highly recommend

Well so far just getting into park is a bust. We reserved tickets for 10am, and it is 1030 and we haven't even made it in yet to park. Not sure why it is so slow other than the booth for parking?More to come once we get inside.parking More? Well only 2 booths and three lanes coming in from 2 directions. Now once inside, everything flowed very well, never seemed.crowded. all the animals were out. Very impressed, the habitats were clean and marked well. Easy to get around. Can't wait to come back.

Truly one of top three zoos in the US. Things are much spacing out and the animals seem freer. We enjoy the layout and the exhibits as well the variety of the animals. The wooden walk board is such a treat. Even though some part of the zoom are under construction, we thought it was really worth the visit and looked forward to coming back when they finish their projects. One cool thing that they give us discount for tickets since have membership from Dallas zoo. Our kids now keep talking about coming back for a visit.

Compared to the San Antonio Zoo, you can tell that they actually truly care about the animals and the scenery here. Once the construction is done, it will be even more beautiful for the public. To all of the people complaining about the parking, you do realize you will even have to walk within the zoo as well. IT IS A ZOO! School field trips, etc etc happens. Get over it.

Autumn is a wonderful time of year to come to this place! It was nice and cool and the animals seem to be having a great time as well. We thought you guys would like these photos! Visited on a Monday during spring break, I was expecting it to be extremely packed and I was pleasantly surprised to find it wasn’t nearly as crowded as I anticipated. Was really excited to see the new additions including the flamingos, baby gorilla, giraffe, and elephant. We got to see many of the animals around feeding time (late afternoon) and got to see some awesome interactions. The ground were very clean and maintained. Was a little disappointed how much of the zoo is under construction (zebras, tiger, lions missing) but hopefully will be back soon! Overall great visit! Reasonable pricing too. Would recommend a visit to the zoo!

Very nice, clean and great-sized zoo with a wide variety of animals. People here are nice, polite and friendly. We are a family of six with 4 children visiting from Bay Area of California and our kids loved it and had a great time here to see and learn about lots of awesome, cool and cute wildlife animals!

Let me start by saying we enjoyed our day. The kids had a great time and that's really #1 on our list. Others have mentioned some of the negatives (having to pay for exhibits inside the park, construction, etc) but the biggest thing for us was it didn't feel like there's a lot to see. Lots of walking and beautiful foliage but not a lot of animals. Also, they advertise pretty heavy that they're the #1 Zoo in the US. Not sure how they're measuring that but we would rate the Dallas Zoo higher so we must be missing something on the rating.

One of the most well maintained and interesting zoos. I love how green and well shaded the place is. Exhibits were definitely more interesting than other zoos I've been too with some have some running water. Highlight animals for me were the mountain lions, coyotes, red wolf, hippo, and some of the monkeys. There's a good variety of animals here and I saw some I've never seen. Lots of information and trivia plaques talking about the animals. I feel like you can learn so much here.

Always impressed with the cleanliness and habitat presentation here at the Fort Worth Zoo. The cool weather has all the animals out and and active, enhancing the experience. Plenty of ramps to keep all areas accessible. Bathrooms well located for convenience. Several snack and small eateries to get you through the experience. Can’t wait to come back when the construction is completed on the back row. Looks like it will be amazing. Train is always popular.

I loved it! All the exhibits were great! When construction is finished it will look so amazing! It has changed so much since I was a kid...so many baby animals and everything! I highly suggest going here. EDIT: The lions are are back and so are the rest of the predators and I kid you not i became a child again! It was so amazing and I was so happy. It looks beautiful and it is a whole new experience!

During this time I expected to see someone at the entrance and exit of the MOLA exhibit regulating capacity. unfortunately we could not visit the exhibit due to the massive amount of people in there when we entered. Unmasked adults and dozens of unmasked children (21st century plague rats) going back and forth touching and coughing and sneezing. completely unregulated in a humid narrow environment. Very disappointing to see this at the Fort Worth Zoo. We can do better than this. Please do.

Granted we got our membership when we just moved here about one month pre-pandemic I can’t help but think how poorly overall the zoo has done with covid precautions. There are people at the gate who tell people they must wear masks and that’s where it ends. Theres hordes of human garbage walking through the park doing whatever they want to do without masks calling people who wear them, per the orders of their very Governor, sheep. So not only is the zoo unimpressive and most of the exhibits lack animals, you’re actually being harassed by the trash that live around here while you attempt to mind your business and entertain your one year old. Super great. Will never frequent this zoo again. Ever.

REVIEW: @fortworthzoo is such a great zoo! It has been rated as the top zoo in the nation for several years in a row now, and it truly is a wonderful #zoo if you like them. This has been one of the BEST memberships I've purchased for myself and my kids. We go once a week and spend an hour or more. The park is huge and it would take a full day to see everything and even then 6 hours (hours are 10am-4pm) may not be enough because there's so much to see. Currently, there is a huge construction project underway called A Wilder Vision which includes the lions, tigers, leopard, hyena to name a few so prepare yourselves not to see those until 2023. Even though the construction is ongoing, there are still lots of great exhibits open: *Toyota Children's Ranch & Petting Corral *African Savannah *Australian Outback *Flamingo Bay *MOLA (Museum of Living Art) *Parrot Paradise *Penguins *Raptor Canyon *Texas Wild *World of Primates Today's exhibit highlight is Flamingo Bay! Enjoy the photos of some of the colorful flamingos. I will say, this is the one exhibit that I'm thankful to be wearing a mask through. Those birds are beautiful but they sure get smelly! 😂 Do worry too much about the smell though, it's right at the entrance so you'll be through it quickly to enjoy the rest of the #park Whether you get a membership or just visit for a day (Wednesdays are half price), you should definitely plan a trip! Go online to make your reservation up to 3 days in advance. You need that before you go!

Wow. Having been to the Dallas Zoo just the previous month all I can say is wow. I don't want to do a comparison between the two, as they are different, and they each have some very different types of animals. However, I was very much impressed with this zoo. It's very big, so don't think you'll be done in a few hours, if you can spend the whole day there, do it! You will not run out of things to do, and things to see. The architect and design was very well thought out and they did a great job at it. Everything seems to have been designed with a purpose. Great variety of animals. Very clean. Affordable. I 100% suggest visiting the Fort Worth Zoo and bringing the whole family!

Great zoo with soooo many exhibits.. the kids had an awesome time. The staff have done an amazing job in keeping the place clean and less smelly, compared to other similar sizes zoo's. This is the first zoo where I have seen a rhinoceros with its tusks.. the giraffe feeding experience is a must do activity, which the kids love the up close experience ... the hippo with the colorful fishes is a must see attraction as well.

MUST DO in Fort Worth! This zoo has so many amazing enclosures and they offer a very diverse range of animals from all over the world! The greatest flex about this zoo is that you can feed the giraffes 🦒 so you are up close and personal with these beautiful animals- they currently are going through renovations on certain areas, but it’s well worth the money you spend here! I visited with my family and was a wise decision to visit this beautiful Texas landmark ❤️

Nice and well organized I really think that it's going to be great when they get the additional areas finished next year. What I really like is the children's interactive center which contain the porthole for multi-level climbing and then a rope bridge across leading to a spiral slide at the bottom that seemed like a lot of fun for the kids. When you go to the safari area you have giraffes and other animals and an open area and they also sell lettuce leaves that you can actually feed the giraffes and interact with which is really a great thing also.

A great experience and well worth the visit! Some of the exhibits were closed due to construction, but that only means the zoo is going to be better in 2023. Buy your tickets online to save time and parking was 5 bucks. A great way to spend an afternoon!

we spent a good 3 hours here to see all the animals and exhibits. We didn't get to see the big cats like tigers or lion because their exhibit was closed down from construction. It looks like they will be finished in December 2022. So much has changed since we were here as kids. It was a great time!

I visited for the first time in April on a weekend - it was my first time visiting a zoo in nearly a decade. Prices were fair - $5 parking and $17 per ticket if purchased online. The weather was perfect in Texas and the crowd was quite large, too. The grounds and restrooms are well kept. Kudos to the staff. Majority of the animals were active. There are numerous exhibits to visit and enjoy. It was a great experience overall and took us about 2-3 hours to explore.

I just visited the Fort Worth Zoo for the second time in a year, this time for the Elephant Managers Association’s annual conference which they hosted. It’s a three hour drive (one way) from my home but always worth the time. I have visited a lot of zoos across the country and Fort Worth is by far my favorite. The staff was incredible hospitable for our conference visit but as we toured the zoo on our own, nothing lacks. Available throughout is lots of shade, seating and amenities. The layout and landscaping of the zoo is magical and immersive, feeling as if you are traveling through parts unknown as you view each exhibit. The new Predators area was now open - wow. Absolutely beautiful (with a state-of-the-art backstage holding and management area which we revived a special tour). I absolutely love the Fort Worth Zoo. Your trip will be worth it from however far you decide to travel.

Super fun for a date! Went with my husband and spent 3 hours walking through and seeing every section. The way the zoo is organized almost feels like a theme park. It was my second time visiting, and I still enjoyed it very much. There are so many varieties of animals here. And there are a few areas where you can pet the animals, which I’m sure is geared more for children but it was fun for us too. We stopped by a candy shop inside the zoo and bought some fudge and rock candy on the way - a nice sweet treat as we walked.

It is a very nice place, I really liked it and my daughter was excited about the animals. Although we couldn't see some of them due perhaps to the cold weather, we still enjoyed it. The giraffes are excellent... it is a little big so we walked around it for about 3 hours. everything went pretty well! I would definitely go again.

Well worth it. The price of admission is very reasonable and I saw so many animals. The enclosures mostly felt like they were great sizes. Was a little confusing to navigate at first, I went straight to Texas area but should have done the other path first as it meant I ended up doubling back and then back again later. They are sponsored by Dr Pepper so if you like drinks made by Coca Cola bring your own

A medium sized zoo and quite manageable in 2-3 hours. They are asking everyone to wear mask, but not all are abiding the rule. Once people are inside a lot of them took the mask off or putting the mask down. This is more important in the “MOLA” area where it’s indoor. Please enforce mask rules more tightly to protect people. The zoo is clean and quite enjoyable, otherwise. A lot of picnic tables and sitting areas. Take breaks and enjoy the exhibits.

One of the best zoos in the nation and definitely the best in Texas. The exhibits look very natural, at least compared to other zoos. I would stay away on Half Price Wednesday, while I saved some money, I wasted an extra hour just trying to get to the park. Also, it is so crowded that a good view of the animals is extremely hard and I probably seen about a third of the exhibits. I also advise that you pay for parking if you can. Besides saving so much time and sparing your legs for inside the park, I assume the price supports the zoo. One last tip, bathrooms are few and far between, so take advantage of the one by the entrance.

Awesome half day zoo! Four stars only because about 1/3 of the zoo is closed for updated exhibits projected to open in 2023 (cheetahs, tigers, zebras, hyenas, lions). Also, the elephants are slated to reopen Spring 2021 but there's still a small section to see them from afar. Once these are completed it will be 5 stars for sure! The rest of the zoo was great! The animals were super active and fun to view and learn about. I was also super impressed with the Texas Wild exhibits and got to learn a lot about Texas that I never knew! The Savannah exhibit is really awesome too how close you can get to viewing all the animals!!

A decent sized zoo. This zoo had a very detailed amphibian / reptile exhibit. There were more birds and amphibians than mammals. The penguins were adorable. There weren't many food options currently but you could bring your own food. You have to wear a mask to walk inside but the place isn't too crowded and is manageable. They handled the Covid epidemic quite well. A good 3-4 hour visit overall and quite enjoyable.

The zoo was so fun! We loved seeing all the animals! It was under construction when we went so I can’t wait until the predators are open to see that amazing new area! The only problem was that the food areas were all closed except the burger shack so they were so busy that ordering took 20-30. It was the Friday of Memorial Day weekend so you think they would have opened more things.

My first time visiting this zoo, and thought it was nice, but definitely not the best zoo in the nation. We went on a Friday, so it was a little crowded and tons of school kids were there. Parking was a long way out because we arrived about 10:00am. They do charge $5 for parking and admission was $32 for two and a toddler, and the train tickets were $4 for adults. The exhibits were nice, and it looks like they are expanding or remodeling. There are definitely a lot of bird exhibits! There are shops and restaurants inside the zoo, but we only stopped for a snowcone at one of the vendors. The train was not a sightseeing train through the zoo, it only took you from the back of the Zoo to the front…which is well worth it if you have a little one with you. I’d like to go back once all of the work they are doing is complete. It took about 2 hours for us to get through but we didn’t explore all of the bird exhibits.

A wonderful zoo with a lot of terrific exhibits and plenty of shade, restrooms, places to eat, and very easy parking. The African Savanna and Asian elephants are highlights, along with the Texas wildlife area (although new better accommodations are definitely needed for the jaguar, mountain lion, and bobcat). There is a very large new exhibit under construction for the lions and tigers and cheetahs. You could easily spend 4 hours or more, as you like.

The Fort Worth Zoo is one of my favorite outdoor places to visit in DFW! The hubby and I went recently for a day date and were pleased to see even more investment and expansion. The lions, tigers etc are getting an all new enclosure with more space to occupy! Always clean, plenty of snack, drinks and places to rest. I love how they’ve built into a “hilly” area and planted tons of shrubs and trees to feel like you are surrounded by nature. The exhibits are top notch and we love the animal interaction opportunities. Take advantage of the opportunity to touch a snake or dip your hand into the water at the Texas river exhibit to experience starfish and more! The primate exhibit is our favorite along with the underwater hippo viewing area. Purchase some lettuce to feed the giraffes 🦒 Parking is usually crowded, but they’ve hired attendants and have police directing traffic for efficiency. Host a private event at their center with private animal encounters! A zoo wedding would be precious. I’ve been frequenting FTW zoo since the early 1990s and have watched this place transform into the staple outdoor activity in our community that it is now.

This zoo was amazing! It had all the animals you would want to see. The best part is feeding the giraffes. Coolest experience hands down. There was plenty of shade and even misters. We went in the morning when the animals are most likely out. One of the best zoos we have ever visited.

I don't have one single complaint! Our family of 5 (aged 9-60) had the most marvelous time We've ever had! We've been to many zoos over the past several years. San Antonio, the Ohio Columbus zoo, and many, many more. Never before have we seen such a lovely park! All, and I do mean all, of the animals were out to visit. The enclosures were spacious and well-kempt. The animals seemed to have many activities, good nutrition, and room to roam. Viewing points are well placed and glass kept clean for photos. Most viewing areas enable you get very close to the animals. Small children will enjoy it as well, as they can access all of view points! Even the reptile house had a step so smaller children could easily see into the taller tanks. The park itself was sparkling clean. From pathways to bathrooms to restaurants. I didn't see one rogue cup or shred of a wrapper. The ambiance was wonderfully beautiful! Many species of plants line the pathways. There are numerous benches to take a rest. If you're handicap or older, the entire zoo is your playground! Absolutely every single exhibit is handicap accessible! Wheelchairs and electric chairs can be used everywhere. Shade is easy to come by. Light music in the "civilized" areas, such as the Texas Wild area and gift shops, can be heard. The indoor enclosures were air-conditioned. The staff were incredibly friendly, personable and prevalent. They answered every question we had with detail. The food was scrumptious and cheap for such an establishment! Our hungry family of 5 ate a massive meal in the Texas Wild area, of pizza and barbecue. Drinks, meals and desserts came to $70. The gift shops were also very reasonable! We spent about $50 for 2 larger toys and a couple key chains. And let's not forget the actual admission and parking cost! $86 for 5 to enter! To put these prices into perspective, another option for our family was the Dallas aquarium. Which was going to be $200 JUST TO ENTER. It took us 6 hours to see everything but if you're handicapped or just want to take your time like us, we HIGHLY recommend making a day of it! Go for the full 7 hours that the park is open! I could go on and on. The park is hands down the most wonderful zoo that our family has had the pleasure of visiting! 10/10! Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ WE WILL BE BACK!

Went with my boyfriend for his birthday, and we both absolutely loved it!! First time seeing a giraffe and elephant, so to me that was so cool! The reptile exhibit as well was amazing !! There are soooo many !! My favorite was the green mamba or the komodo dragon! My boyfriend loved the crocodiles and the hippos !! We also got our tickets on the website so we didn't need to wait to get in, which was super nice !! Totally recommend coming to this zoo! ❤️❤️

I was excited to visit the FW zoo until I actually arrived. I was a bit taken back by the condition of some of the animals. The cat species looked malnourished and most of the animals were pacing as if looking for food, some with babies. I inquired about feeding times and was never given a concrete answer. It was truly disheartening to see these animals in captivity, to bring entertainment to onlookers, looking as though they themselves are suffering without anyone coming to their aid. My heart truly heart upon leaving this establishment.

We’re proud supporters of the Fort Worth Zoo. Took my father for an impromptu visit today and were delighted to see lion cub Moja and his beautiful family in their habitat today. Love all the animals and species conservation programs the Fort Worth zoo participates in.

To be able to do something normal and feel safe in a Covid compliant atmosphere felt so good! Reservations required. Lots of hands washing stations. Lots of shade. Very pleased with our zoo outing!

Plenty of shade, nice views of the animals, beautiful habitats. Plenty of seating around the zoo. Staff was friendly and helpful even in the middle of this pandemic. There is some construction on new elephant enclosure , but other than that a full zoo experience minus the couple of indoor closures.

We spent most of our day walking around and viewing all the animals. This is the finest zoo we have ever visited! Really worth traveling to and spending the entire day. Our family enjoyed it so much we could of stayed there for a week. We took the train back to the entrance and it was fun. They have little scenes set up along the way and our kids really enjoyed that.

Just an excellent experience, the kids, parents and grandparents had a wonderful time. Public places are difficult right now with the pandemic, but never once did I feel too close to anyone or in a compromised position. A great way to get out of the house!

This zoo was a bad experience for me & my family. We arrived at 1:55 p.m stayed about 50 mins because we were by Kona Ice waiting in line for a snow cone. A worker came up to change the trash can & bees were already swarming the trash, but flying cockroaches started coming out. One flew on my 5 month old stroller visor. Disgusting! I had to run off w/ the stroller to get away from them! They should take notes from Houston Zoo. While I understand we are outside...but if they cleaned out the trash cans they would get rid of them nasty bugs! Most of the animals were missing! Gone! Social distance was not happening. At all. Mask hardly worn. They do have the usually animals, birds & reptiles.

The family & I had a pretty good zoo experience this time around. There is soo much to do here even with a few indoor exhibits closed. 90% of the animals were out ( went around 10am ) & the pricing isn't terrible. Several food options. Note: It was very crowded ( some real tight areas as well ) for the entirety of the trip. Bring a mask!

First time ever coming to this Zoo, I heard all the hype but did it deliver? Eh .....Nah......it might have been because of all the Covid , masks and construction going on but still lots of the exhibits were closed, food was ok. Long lines to the kid water area. The cool thing they do have are the sting ray exhibit, we were able to feed them and touch them and stay as long as we wanted. I'm sure before covid it was much better but it didn't live up to the hype that everyone says. I liked the old town area, that was cute. We had no maps of the zoo so we had to looked it up online as recommended. Might visit again next year.

Great zoo! Great atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Feel like you are in the wild yourself. Great variety of animals and close up experiences, through glass or up close and personal. Takes about 2-3 hours at minimum depending how long you view animals. Most will ask, Dallas or Fort Worth? If I had to pick one, I would pick Fort Worth. Both are great but Fort Worth has more to offer and little better experience. My only downside is the expected one, the price for food and drinks... $4 plus tax for a soda drink or bottled water. And of course food, including candy is jacked up. *Pics of some animals included in post*

Labor day weekend and it's in the 90's and the Dippin dots and all of the snack stands are closed. Only 3 food places were open. The pens for the animals were small, especially the small penguins. Overall experience was a 2, but the animals raised it to a 3. Good variety of animals and trails were nice.

  • 4/5 Nicole C. 3 years ago on Google
They need filtered fountains for kids to run through... it's Texas heat.... just sayin. But still the "only" zoo to go to in DFW area due to the accessibility to see the animals. You can feed the giraffe's for 6$ a head of lettuce (kinda pricey, but worth it if you cut them in half). Feed the giraffe's first and enjoy the Savannah, feed the birds in the the bird cage ($1?), see the gorillas, jump on the bouncy bridge on the other side of the Zoo, and check out the sea otters which did laps back and forth along the glass when we went. Sometimes it's just a "be there at the right moment" and you will get amazing views of the animals. If it's too hot, the animals could be in the shade. If it's a little cooler, they will be out. Still the "only" Zoo to visit in the DFW. Great Zoo. Can't wait for it to get warmer again to go.

I love this zoo, and it is always worth going. I hate to give it 3 stars, because I'd normally give it 10, but the combination of COVID and Construction put a damper on the experience. They are doing their best in light of the situation, but it is harder to get around, many things are closed, and some animals are entirely off display. The construction should be done in 2023, and I'm hoping it will be back to fully awesome. I probably won't visit again until after then, but I look forward to it. Still my favorite, and don't miss out on half price Wednesday!

Although this zoo isn't as big as Dallas's, it makes up for it in the quality of the displays. When I visited, there were tons of baby animals (chimps, zebras, elephants), and all of the enclosures were gorgeously designed.

Wearing masks correctly is not enforced at all. Even saw staff wearing masks under their nose. People without mask right next to staff and they weren’t told anything. Felt very unsafe in this zoo.

  • 1/5 Sidney R. 3 years ago on Google
Decided to try this one as opposed to the Dallas Zoo. 2 things: About 50% are maskless here, it's really bad. A lot of clear and vocal anti-masker mom groups. The Dallas Zoo only had about 5% without masks so it's better... Staff doesn't regulate mask at all so not covid complaint. At least 1/4 of everything is closed under construction until 2023. Kids were a little bummed. I won't return and I'll stick with the Dallas Zoo instead.

  • 2/5 Dee 3 years ago on Google
The enclosure for the Coyotes was terribly small for 2 adult sized animals. Clearly they need more room as they were both pacing frantically. If you can’t house an animal in a proper sized space, it would be better for them to be at another facility. Same went for the penguins in their minuscule enclosure. ☹️

  • 5/5 Linda J. 3 years ago on Google
It exceeded my expectations. They are taking covid 19 seriously and everyone had a mask on except some of the young children. We plan to return again in the fall.

1/3 the zoo was closed and over half the animals you go to the zoo to see was closed. would rate it 3 stars but would not have bought memberships or even went if they would have mentioned all of those animals were not viewable, large cats(lions, tigers, cheetah....) elephants, hyenas and many others closed down, all I saw on the website was elephants were not viewable, temporarily, but was thinking when we go back in a month or two.... nope. 2023. Would it beat the Dallas zoo? Yes, if the exhibits were open. However, San diego zoo as well as many others beat this by far, have no clue how it made #1 zoo in the U. S.

Merits: One of the biggest zoos in Texas. We can find almost every animal, bird, reptile etc. Demerits: Mask usage is not enforced properly. Majority of the guests weren't wearing a mask. The most popular animals like Lion, Tiger, Leopard, Zebra are not in the zoo now due to a renovation project. These are the trademark animals of a zoo. This is a big let down for not just the kids, but everyone. They are going to return only in 2023.

We took a 45 minute drive to the Fort Worth Zoo and spent the whole day there! The layout was easy to walk, there were plenty of restrooms and refreshment stops. The animals were breath taking and the memories made were sealed deep into our spirit. We will for sure return.

Have always enjoyed going to this zoo! And with the new construction, it is just getting better!

You're a nuisance! For two hours I can't get home because of your "events"! I fall short on words to describe my outrage! Maybe instead of bringing in new pets you should invest into expanding roads and building a parking garage space and learn how to be considerate of the neighbors around you!

It was very crowded. I will never plan to go here on spring break. We had to walk forever and a day to get to the main entrance. Didn't really enjoy myself but it was because of the crowd.

Nice sign on the corner of South University Drive and Colonial Parkway as you turn in for the entrance of the Fort Worth Zoo. Note only visible when going southbound on University. Nice location to take photos. AND the sign is currently lit up with “Fort Worth Zoo ... the #1 Zoo in the USA” !!!

We went 30 minutes before closing to Boo in the park, I still had to pay full price.. What I saw was amazing, so many animals. I will definitely return with my grandson.

In reality we go to work inside de zoo, there is a lot of work building estructures to hold the animals, wild dogs birds and all kinds of animals.

I was some animals. One looked at me funny and I called him a cuss word. Then he jumped at me and I ran out. It was wild, it was like World Star

Amazing place in the heart of Fort Worth! Love the Giraffe exhibit where you can feed the giraffes!! Can't wait to see the new savannah exhibit they are currently building. Also love the iguana they decorate for holidays!

Broad range of animals from Savannah to Texas natives. Great little kids play area up at the Texas section. Good amphibian and reptile house, kids enjoyed playing spot the snake or frog. Food on offer was basic but good places to enjoy your own picnic if you packed one. Little train ride was also popular with the kids.

The Mola was a great experience for kids of all ages even the full grown ones. Gardens are beautiful and cages throughout the zoo were clean and well kept. Pity about the elephants not in the inclosure and about the predators not ready to be seen in the new enclosure. Kids were really disappointed. Train was a big hit. Well kept with easy wheelchair or pushcart access. Can recommend

We went on Wednesday because it was half off admission. It wasn’t overcrowded, a lot of little gift shop themed to the animal you got to see, a lot of open area where you can see them up close, multiple locations of restrooms and different varies of animals to see. I wasn’t fond of the birds or the reptiles as it was in an enclosed area and it was very hot and humid in the area

Love the time at the zoo. I am retired and got a annual pass so get to go spend time with the animals. I am excited about the new safari exhibit coming this month.

Honestly one of the best places that I have been, they didn't have the predators do to some construction but they have made up for it by being the most kid friendly zoo. Definitely 5 star when they bring back the rest of the animals.

It's a good outing especially with family. They have good senior discounts and parking is only $5. They also have scheduled shows with great facts and Q&A.

I went today as soon as it opened, the heat is not much of a factor if you go early. Also, there are trees all over the zoo which provide shade. There are also some sections with misters. Furthermore, the penguin habitat is like a giant freezer so that's a nice spot to cool down as well. Overall, the Zoo was an inexpensive experience. It was worth it to see all the animals they have which is a lot. Keep in mind, if you go during midday where the heat is extreme, then the animals might be hiding in the shade not doing much. Despite the triple digit heat today, I still felt like I saw enough.

I really enjoyed this zoo! I rate zoos based usually on habitat space and does it offer a realistic approach to their natural settings. The Lions, Mola, Giraffes, Apes were the highlights. Very poor habitats for Jaguars, Mountain Lions and Ocelots. Very themed out zoo, should provide more space for animals, less for stores! Come on-$5 for water-very ugly!

Edited 11/12/23 to add new photos and say that the new predator habitats are spectacular! Beautiful, spacious, and you can get so close to the animals. The baby gorilla really stole the show with his dance moves today though! Wish I had gotten a good video. Original: Absolutely stunning every time. I love how interactive this zoo is. Highly recommend checking out the elephant training sessions!

This zoo is amazing you can find variety of animals and entertainment for kids and adults, is very clean, if you want to see the entire zoo you need to get there a little early.

Best zoo in DFW area. Vast amount of wild life. You can also feed giraffes. Baby gorillas were the stars of the zoo. A lot of people but not too crowded during the weekend. Cheap tickets, definitely worth the experience.
